Hi everyone,

I am interested in starting sewing. I do a few things around here as it is nothing major just curtains and the like. I was just curious how did you figure out how to make your first cloth nappy? Is it more trial and error rather than following a pattern? what do i do for the middle? Do I sew it in or place it in? What material do I make it out of? lol sorry am soooo naive about all of this. I am asking santa for a new sewing machine for xmas :fingerscrossed:

Hi Jate1985, how's the MCN going? Is it lasting longer now?

I don't sew (although I'd really love to learn one day) but these links seem to have a few free patterns. Not sure if they're any good, though:rolleyes: Some of the other girls on BH who have sewing hands will be able to tell you if they're alright.

i found some pictures on the net of someone sewing step by step, i found the ones where you sew the absorbant stuff in place easier for me to sew since this was the pictures, but now i have worked out how to do the pockets and then you can do boosters for absorbancy that can be removed to make washing and drying easier.
look around here (http://www.thenappynetwork.org.nz/fitted.php) there are pics of making nappies and patterns.

to start off i just traced around a nappy to get an idea of the shape, but i gradually have found what works better for my bub along the way and the first nappies i made and loved now aren't that great coz my latest ones just keep getting better.
