I haven't been there, but i know it's about 40 mins from the sunshine coast, so i guess from the gold coast 3hr20mins would be about right. The only zoo i know of anywhere near there is the Australia Zoo, which is actually at Beerwah which would probably be at least an hour from Rainbow Beach, not sure if there is any at Rainbow beach, i doubt it though. Also, i have heard it is very beautiful up there i have a friend who goes there a lot for 4wding and stuff. Hope you have a nice time!

if you go through gympie there is a goldmining museum, if you are interested in that stuff i take my kids whenn i m up thatta way and next to it is the duck ponds, not a zoo but you can see lots of ducks/geese there, and once we saw an eel in one of the ponds. also a timber museum on the other side of gympie.

as you go up the highway if you go on the tanawah tourist drive there are lots of cheesy tourist attractions (that i love doing with my kidlets:D ) a good one is the hedgemaze cant remember wat its called though.

have fun

Rainbow beach is beautiful, DP & I went up there last year before bub was born, there is a nice hike, not ure if you can do it with the kids.........it takes you up to the Carlos Sandblows........ absolutely gorgeous.......

It took us about 3 1/2hours to get there from Waterford West, and we are about 30mins from the Gold Coast............

If you go for a drive to Tin Can Bay ( about an hour away if that) you can feed a dolphin, get in the water with it etc.......

As for tourist attratctions people have already mentioned the places I know of........

Have fun, as I said it is a beautiful place, oh and if you had the money you could get a tour bus over to Fraser Island for the day..........(another gorgeous place)...

Not sure about playcentres......dont think there is, but I could be mistaken.....I main street has a pub which has nice meals, fairly cheap, a grocery store, coffee shop, a surfie shop, and a few other shops......... eg fish & chip shop etc..... It also has a RSL......

We stayed at Rainbow Shores Resort, and there is a playground there, not sure where else though......
