Ok - so I know i am getting way ahead of myself here (i like to be prepared!!) - but i have been seeing the adds recently for the new Tommee Tippee bottles/teats that are meant to be 'closest to breast' and they have got me thinking. I am hoping to B/F again, and had a few issues with nipple confusion with DD, so want to try & get the best bottles possible so DH can start giving the odd bottle of EBM after 3 months.

We had Avent ones last time - as DD didn't like the Nuk ones that are also meant to be great. I already have the avent steam steriliser, heaps of bottles & the insulated carry case, so to change brands now (not sure if the other things are compatible with tommee tippee?) would be expensive - esp since i plan on b/f to at least 12months. Has anyone heard anything about the new tommee tippee bottles? Has anyone else had to change bottle brands? Anyone bought any feeding accessories yet?
Thanks guys!

I will do both as I will be returning to work.

I sucked at expressing - will try again but if anything like Harriet will just stick to straight breastfeeding. Luckily I don't have to go back to work and tend to have the baby with me no matter where I go so it isn't too much bother. I really hope that I can do it this time. I too have all Avent bottles so will probably just stick with them.

i'm hoping to be able to breastfeed with no real problems. my mum is a breastfeeding counselor & midwife, so i'll have pretty good support. i'm also lucky as i'll be taking at least 12 months maternity leave, so will be able to breastfeed for a while.

having said that, DP wants to be able to do some feeding at some point too, so i'm sure we'll do battle with the bottle as well.

Charli's mum, when I had to start expressing and giving DD EBM due to low supply when she was around 3.5mths old, a LC came to see me and it was her opinion that the best teats to get (closest to nipple) are Pigeon Peristaltic teats. They come in cross-cut as well as normal holes and she said she thought just the plain holes were better.

I also had all Avent bottles, pump, steriliiser etc, but the Pigeon teats fit the Avent bottles perfectly. They are definitely more like a real nipple, and the trick is to kind of corkscrew them into bub's mouth if they don't take a full mouthful - so that they have the same open flanged mouth on the teat as they do on the breast.

Hope that helps.

Cosmic - don't be sorry! Especially since you had great advice. I will be keeping an eye out for the pidgeon teats, it's great to know i prob won't have to buy all new bottles/steriliser etc. :smiliedance:
