Do you think its mean of us not to put up a christmas tree this year and only minimal decorations?!
Everyone is giving us a hard time over our decision not to put up a tree this year but our house settles 15th dec, we will be moving in on the 16th and 18th and then still unpacking and whatnot... so really its just a whole heap of unneccesary work.
What do you think?
Its DD2's first christmas and DS's first christmas that hes really REALLY into it.... so I feel a bit mean but its not like we arent decorating at all!
What would you do?!
Nah its not bad... just get a mini tree u can use that on a coffee table and put pressies under the table that would be enough!! and put whatever decorations on the mini tree and a bit around the house to make it feel festive enough

Its not bad, but i know i couldnt go through christmas without one...
You can buy those little pop up trees, easy to put up and down!! lol
I'd put the tree up and forget the other decorations. At least then on Christmas day you'll be able to sit around the tree and unwrap presents.
Last year we flew to Darwin on the 18th of Dec for Christmas. All I put up was the tree, as it gave us the feeling of Christmas without lots of putting up and taking down to do.

I think it is mean not to have a tree. I see no point in decking out a home for christmas(like in the movies)until you are fully settled. BUt considering it is christmas, the first real christmas DS is excited for, i thinka tree would be in order, and you would want to remember your first christmas in your new home with atleast a decked out tree

How about one of those smaller trees that comes already decorated with ribbons and things? That way it would be easy to put up and take down, no fussing.
I know where you are coming from... I am doing very little this year due to the fact that I will be 8 mths PG and we don't have any kids (yet). But next year we will go all out as it will be bub's first xmas and he will be nearly 1.
I am still undecided about whether to do the lights on the front of the house too.

smaller xmas trees make it look like the kids have HEAPS more pressies !! BONUS  I wouldnt bother wth a big one
We arent having a xmas tree this year. We would have to buy a new one and money is a bit tight. Also, DS is running around now, and i dont have anyway of keeping him away from it, so i dont think it would stay decorated anyway!
Im sure your kids will be much more excited about the pressies anyway!

oh a small pre-decorated tree sounds good lol !!
Since when has Christmas been about the Christmas Tree:confused: If the house is decorated, then that's great. There are presents, the kids are happy, your with the people you love, that's what it's all about! I'm sure your kids won't complain to you in 10 years time about that one Christmas when there wasn't a tree. Don't give in to others expectations, you are going to busy unpacking, the last thing you want is to stress over something so trivial

I don't think it matters, mybe get one of those small Xmas trees that you put in the middle of the table, thats what we're going to be doing as we have a 2 year old and I'm scared she might pull it down on top of her (we had a small one last year too)
