my dp was born with a heart condition it was picked up till he was 4.i dont rember the exact name of the condition but its a blocked major artery and dp had to have an op to try and fix it he has 2 artiers joint together now working as one. he sees a heart dr every yr and has been told most likel in his 30's he will need a new heart:(
well when ds1 was born we were told to get him checked for the condition and we did when he was like 2 months old and was told then he was ok. now we are worried coz ds1 hasnt grown inbetween mchn visits and dp said he hadnt grown for a yr before he was diagnosed.
:crying: i dont know if i want to know if ds1 has the condition coz i dont think i can handle seeing him have heart operation.now that dp mentioned it too me after we took both boys to the mchn ds1's lack of growth and the possibility of him having the same heart problems as dp are always playing on my mind.

Please go and get him checked out. It's the only way your mind will be put to rest. And it is so important to catch these things as early as possible. The longer you leave it, the more likely it is that permanent damage will be done to your DS's heart. My DS who is now 6 months had a heart operation when he was 4.5 months. It is only just over a month later, and you would really have no clue he had ever had the op! He is just so healthy and normal.

Your DS has already been checked out once, so have some faith that the Drs do know what they are doing, and have already declared him fine. But you need to put your mind at rest. Is the CHN worried about the lack of growth between visits? Did she indicate that you should get your DS checked out for a heart condition, or any other issue which may be causing the lack of growth?

There is no point sitting there worried. Just go and see someone. Maybe start with your GP. If there IS something wrong, then at least you can take action. I will pray for you that it is all fine, which it probably is, but you won't know this until you go see someone!!!

Heart operations in babies are really common and routine now - When I was in hospital with my daughter I saw lots of babies come in at 2 weeks old - have open heart surgery and go home 2 weeks later. Perfectly healthy... Oh how I wish my daughter had a heart condition!!!!!

Stop letting your own fears get in the way, go do whats right for your child!!!!

Please don't get offended
