Hi there,
My ds is is 3 1/2 months old and exclusivly bf most of the time when he is due for a feed he will do a couple of squarks nothing major and then when i put him to the breast he will squirm cry and pull off the breast until my milk comes in.I have tried getting the milk in first but it dosnt come down without him sucking.I thought that it might be because he is inpatient but then one day i put bonjella on his gums before a feed and he fed fine.
Could this just be his age and he is just too inpatient?? or is it because he is teething(he has white under the gums)?? I am not sure how to fix it and get trouble free feeds.
Thanx -Jaclyn

hi Reeny and Sash,
It is possibly a bit early for teething to bother your bub. He may simply have been distracted by the taste of the bonjela.

It sounds like he may be a bit impatient - I cant say without seeing him ( have you asked your health nurse or a lactation consultant to watch him feed?).

The key could be in your words - he is exclusively BF most of the time - if you have been topping up with bottles he could have come to expect a faster flow.

It is best to avoid bottles altogether but certainly until he is settled at the breast.
If impatience is the problem, you could try expressing a little until your milk lets down so he gets a faster flow earlier.

Good luck,
Pinky
