Who has tips on how to keep your christmas tree out of the way of little fingers? I fear that Elise is going to grab one of those decos and the whole thing will just come crashing down  At all costs i would really like to avoid the emergency room during the holidays!!
I thought about putting in the play pen, but then it doesnt 'look' very christmassy, but thats the only solution ive come up with so far, Ive also thought about putting it up high on a table, but then were are we going to eat, im trying to prevent us from eating in the louge as much as possible!!
So what do/did you do when your kids were at that 'inquisitive' age to protect them from the tree and the tree from them
Cheers Tanni

I usually hang lots of bells low on the tree. Little brass ones with tartan bows.
It works well to let me know if the cats or the kids are at it.

Aww, the thought was good while it lasted.
Its not exactly a play pen that i have, its just an unused pro-a-cot :p

I use the playpen. Just got me thinking that I might have to wrap some tinsel around it to make it very Christmassy.

My father used to tie the top off the tree to the curtan rod and a strong hook in the wall. If you use 2 ties like that it's pretty hard to pull the tree over. DH did the same when we had climbing cats.

ooh good idea Martha!
I was going to say put it inside the playpen.

We have resorted to a dinky sit on bench tree (for the moment) while they are so little and very cheap ornaments... We put more emphasis into the lights...which we don't put on the tree anymore but hook up around our loungeroom window....

We didn't have a tree the last two years... there was just no way we could have one. But this year I'm having it up on the dining room table, which is against the wall in the corner of the room. I will put the tree up in that corner and have pinned the chairs between table and wall so that Ronan can't pull them out and climb up to the tree.
Of course, this means no eating at the table for a few months... but we were never good at doing that anyway! :o
We put the tree in DD's playpen. After a few days you only saw the tree and not the fence surrounding it.

I put the tree either in the portacot or play pen (now I have one a friend passed on to me), sounds weird I know, but then I put a couple of bricks on the legs of it, so it won't fall, and stack all the wrapped presents around the esky, so you only see the tree coming out of the piles of presents. Kids can't reach the tree, or the pressies! Have done this for about 7 years now, and works fine.
