How much effort do you put in & what kind of decorations do you put up for Christmas. Is it just a Christmas tree & maybe some lights out of the front - or are there some of you out there that go the whole hog and decorate the entire house.....inside and out!!!!!

id love to go the whole hog, but its hard when you dont own where you live coz you cant exactly go about putting hooks up everywhere, so for us its just the tree and a few inside and window decorations. When dd gets older we might get more into it though.
I JUST LOVE CHRISTMAS :smiliedance:

Real christmas tree with old fashioned glass decorations, special table linen, candles/candlesticks, and a few china ornaments about the house. And a wreath on the front door.
I make the house look festive, but I don't want to be spending the whole of January un-decorating iykwim.

Bit of tinsel.
I tried the whole tree thing but my cats knock it down and eat the decorations every single year!

We go all out I love christmas for us its all about the kids anyones kids will do, and family.
I just went to day to pick up another outdoor light it was from Kmart a rocking horse light so exciting the 1st dec is getting very close.
I send hubby up onto the roof which he really is not that keen on there through the garden beds and everywhere.
I just love hearing kids go by and hearing them get so excited about the lights and what thay can see its soo worth the 2 days it takes to put them up and bring them down again.
Hurry up the 1st of December :smiliedance:

just a tree for us, although this year we have our kitten (we got him in January) so not sure how long the tree will last as he is a little sod for climbing and playing!!!
A wreath on the front door is nice, will probably do that again once we're out of rented.
I dont like lights outside houses - no offence to anyone but I find them tacky.... not very environmentally friendly either! ;)

I go all out !!!!
Well ok last year we didnt because Boof wouldve pulled the tree over but this year its back to normal !
So that means tree, decorations in windows, on shelves, up the stairs, front door then outside we have a few bits & pieces that go in the garden & then we have the outside lights a few dangling stars that hang off our balcony & then the fairy lights through the tree nothing fancy but it looks pretty.
I love Christmas & i love making it a big thing especially for kids so i cant wait now that Boof can be involved :D
We go all out, and every year as I accumulate more, the decorations and lights just seem to get bigger. This year we'll have two trees inside along with tinsel and bits and pieces through the house. Outside we cover the roof, front verandah, back patio in lights and I've found a blow up Santa this year (2.4m tall) to put out the front. DD and the kids in the street love the lights outside and we have great fun setting it all up.

I dont think we will have found a house to buy & be in it before Christmas this year - so I will be off to the sales to buy heaps of bargain xmas decorations so I can go all out next year. :smiliedance:
Usually we just have the tree (fake) inside - but I do decorate it beautifully with babbles and icicle tincle & clear fairy lights......I love it!
Next year, we will have lights up on the outside of our house everywhere & then also have heaps of stuff in the gardens & also the windows. I used to have a wreath but our dog ate it when he was a puppy -- will have to get another one of those too! I also want to get pretty decorations to go on the inside of our house too -- like candles, ornaments & hopefully find some nice decorations to go on the walls/around windows (that dont look tacky).
I love watching Christmas episodes of American TV shows -- ultimately I would love to have a house decorated the way they seem to go over the top.........dont think DH would be too happy with that some how??

I wouldn't call sharing joy and good will with the surrounding community tacky, but, hey I'm a good neighbour.
PS. One solar panel + sealed lead acid battery will have your christmas lights running on their own, then when they're not up you can use it to power your backyard/garden/shed lights for free.
Not very hard to save trees & share some goodwill with the local community, you can even do it from the comfort of your own chair thanks to eBay.

I think this year I might put up a bit of tinsel and a small Xmas tree that you put on the table and maybe a wreth thingy on the door, last year we just had the small Xmas tree.

What kind of decorations do you do for the kids rooms? That sounds like a fabulous idea for when DD gets older.....she's 13m today! It would make it so personal for her to have her own "special" xmas decorations!
tree and decorations. i used to set up a manger but i left it with my parents when i moved out of home. I want to get a christmas wreath for the front door
