View Full Version : Boob size
My husband and I are TTC at the moment and there is one little thing that I am very, very worried about! I'm hoping that someone may be able to ease my mind (hopefully??).
I am currently between a D and DD cup which I am a bit uncomfortable with at the moment because I find that most people (mainly males) talk to my breats instead of my face! What I am concerned about is how big they will get when I get pregnant! Does everyone's breats get larger during pregnancy? Do you think there'd by any chance mine would just stay the same size? Has anyone been in the same position? Any replies would be much appreciated!!
Thanks

I was a DD in Yr 11 at school, right through the pregnancy and i'm still the exact same size now :D The only time they were bigger was the day my milk came in and for about a week after.
I was plesantly surprised, just hope they stay the same after i've finished breastfeeding MJ

I'm barely an a cup, or was before having my son! They didn't grow until my milk came in, then they were HUGE for 4 days, now they've settled down and comfortably fit a b cup, so i've increased 1.5 sizes. Not complaining, just hoping they stay this way for a while!

Sorry to say I was in the same position and I went to an E cup. Really hard to find a maternity bra. Especially a 16E. But the best one I found was the Elle McPherson one. I think it only goes up to a 14 E but I am normally a 16 and the 14 was fine for me. I have tried every bra possible! I stopped feeding not too long ago so will be interesting to see what happens now.

Mine are smaller now while feeding a 2 year old many times a day than they were in pregnancy. There are quite a few bra options round although I mostly use shelf singlets as they're easy to bf in! Boobs are meant to grow and nourish your baby, and they will do a beautiful job. It's what they're really for! :D

I went from a 12 C to a 14 E with the pregnancy and when the milk came in. Unfortunately they have remained huge at 12 E and my daughter is nearly 2 and I stopped breastfeeding at 6 weeks.

Mine went from a 14C to a 16 E/F when I was pregnant. They're now down to a 14 DD now that I've stopped breastfeeding. They're shrinking slowly with the exercise I'm doing but I don't expect to be a 14C anytime soon :)

I went to an H while pregnant from a DD. I think it is hard to prempt what your boosies will do. I have a friend that was a DD and she had no change. Just make sure that you go and get a bra properly fitted to give the maximum support and comfort if they do happen to go bonkers on you :) Also good to scope out good nursing bras and get one fitted as well.

Hi, well i hate to tell you this but the majority of pg women get bigger breasts during pg, sorry! My breasts didnt change that much during pg but they certainly did after birth. I was a D cup and now im a DD. They say you usually go up a cup size during the whole experience but everybody is different. You might be lucky enough not to get bigger during pg. Unfortunately you can thank the pg hormones for the volumptous look!

Yep - I was a D before pregnancy and DD throughout pregnancy. Day 2 after having DS, someone came in and replaced my breasts with melons ... big whopping H cup melons. My lord they were so big they were under my armpits.
I remember the post-natal physio coming into my room and her eyes nearly popped out of her head. Not very often you see perfectly pert rock hard uncovered H cups staring you in the face :o . Come to think of it ... I wonder if my son will be a boob man as a result?
The good news is, there are now lots of things you can house your ample bosom in to keep you comfy and supported both during pregnancy and when b/f.

Hi there everyone.
Wow it is actually comforting that there are lots of other woman out there in the same situation. Before i had my first DS i was a 14 C which i liked (loved to be that againg unfortuately can't afford a reduction + DH wont let me). By the end of that preg i was a 16D - DD. Towards the end of my Preg i was fitted with and 18G bra  but it was a little bit roomy around the front to let me grow when the milk came in so i was prob more a E or F. I didn't breast feed with either as i couldn't so the dr gave tablets to dry up the milk with the second baby. I am hoping that if i lose weight they will drop down to a more comfortable size but i think id need to get quite slim for that to happen.

Hi Lou,
I too am a DD and at 39 weeks pregnant have not changed size at all yet. I'm a bit worried about what will happen once I've had the baby and have bought E cup maternity bras (this was what the woman at Myer recommended) but I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I have been pleasantly surprised that I have not got bigger during pregnancy.

So it seems everyone has quite different experiences with their boob size
I'm another one yet to change. I too was a bit worried about them going out of control as I'm normally a D cup. I'm now 13 weeks and got fitted for a couple of maternity bras last week - both of the bras I bought are D cups and there is still a bit of room in the cups for me to grow.
PS - Also I had no idea that the reason we needed maternity bras early on was to have no underwires.

OH I'm gutted. I was hoping that mine might evetnually go back to the 10C they once were. I was 10D after my frist Miscarrige and they never went back down after that. By the time I was pregnant again they were a 10DD and then 10E when I was BF. Very hard size to get, most size 10's only go up to DDcup. Apparently not many small people need E cups! I was only able to BF for 5weeks. It's six months later and I'm now back to a 10DD. They look awful, I wish I could afford to get them lifted and reduced.

A tip for all the big boobies out there! Save the reduction till after bubs or go a bit smaller than you want to be!
I was a 10F/FF before a reduction 2 years ago, that made me a 12C. 4 months after having DS I am a steady 12D (I expressed for one month, so impressed they worked!) I am still wondering if this is my new size or not, I think it is.
JulieXavier, I totally agree, bras are a nightmare here, I only ever found good 10F's when I lived in the UK, I always thought it would be a great business to set up here!

Before my first boy I was a 16DD, when I fell pregnant I went up to 18E and that's where they stayed until I fell pregnant with my second son and then they went up to a 18H and that's where they stayed, well that was till I fell pregnant with this bub, now they have started to get bigger again.

My DH said he would consider us saving for a reduction, after we have finished having children (If I still want one then). I thought it might be the case that they could get bigger again if you had the op before you had stopped having kids and BF. Also if you had a lift they could drop again if you BF too.
In the mean time you just gotta shop around and spend hours trying on bras to one that fits perfectly. It's worth it though, you feel so much more confident when your wearing a good bra!
Oh Katherine I feel for you!!! I'm whinging about nothing compared to you! Must make BF difficult with so much flesh! I found that my son was getting smothered by my boob alot even though I had advice from Lactation Consultants on postioning. Quite tricky! :D

I had lots of BF trouble, with Angus I could only BF him for 2 1/2 weeks because I had enough milk for twins and the poor thing was drowning. Then with Caleb I BF him for about 2 months but had twice the amount of milk but I think because he was such a big boy we got to go a bit longer, I just hope that it is different this time round.

;) I had a few problems when i first started bf because i had so much milk that it just kept coming so my boobies were always tender & sore it was like that for 2 months. I hate having big boobs i don't even now what size they are but i hope they go back to normal when i stop bf. Hi Julie..
