We have a Holden SS Commodore & a Mitsubitshi Lancer. DH wants me to stop using the SS & start driving the Lancer.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has a 2 door car that size & how you go with the carseat. We are turning DS's Carseat on the w/e so he wants me to do the transfer then...not much notice  . I am just really worried that I'm not going to be able to get him in & out as easily as I'll have to climb in the back with him rather than going through the door...
Any tips, advice comments are greatly appreciated.

We also have a Lancer, and are looking at getting the Turn a Tot car seat bc you can turn it to the side, which I've heard is really helpful in 2 door cars....

Just a word of warning......
Hatchbacks are extremely dangerous to have infants in the back seats. The seat in a decent accident can just fold over & crush them.
Dont mean to scare. But I did a safe driving course when I was 17 & that is the one thing that has stuck in my mind. And I was not even thinking about kids back then. :o

Mmm, really, thanks for that. I was actually curious of things like this as the back seat is alot small in width than the SS ofcourse.

I had this for DS from birth.
I have a mitsubishi mirage and it came in real handy getting him in and out.
He's now in a booster car seat and its a little easier to get him out but i have to admit, i cant wait to get a four door as my back hurts so much lifting my 15kg boy in and out

I use to drive a 1980 Chrysler Lancer...hatchback, and it was so cramped in the back, he could kick my seat, and it was just a nightmare on my back.........
Your DH is probably looking at fuel costs, but seriously I would look at getting another car rather than using a 2 door car with a child.....
Just my opinion...and I know that it is not always feasible to buy another car, but it is so much easier........

We have a Camry but our second car's a 2 door Lancer. It is not a hatchback. We also have a Safe n Sound Meridian, and yes, it's a big seat but fits well in the centre of the back seat.
I have had several days where I've had to go out and about in the Lancer. My experience is yes, it's difficult and harder with a 6month old, as you gotta carry him while climbing into the backseat in order to buckle him in. (murder on the back) Once my DS learned to walk it got easier, just had to tell DS to climb into his seat and I could then simply buckle him in.
I am now selling the Lancer as I'm expecting twins, but ultimately the choice is up to you. It's gonna be difficult but if you have no choice really, then try and make it work. I don't really think it's worth your while to buy another carseat, unless, you'd like a carseat in each car??

Well this was my point to DH.. He has a Worktruck so at the mo' the Lancer is sitting there. We only drive at the moment if one us has to wip down the street or something. The SS will still be used as our "family outing car" so I thought that we'de need a 2nd seat too, but he says no....Thanks for that, I' know I'm not insane then...I might have to have another chew on his ear about this:rolleyes:

Hey Ang:wave:
I am putting a car seat in gertrude (my little getz) soon cos Todd doesn't like driving a girls car everyday(she is purple hehe) and I always forget to tell him when I want the other car with the car seat in it. It will probably be a bit tricky (will be a turn-a-tot one that Melissa gave us) but at least I know that I can use whichever car. Plus I love my gertrude:laughing:
Bye, em xo
