As I need to trial DS on formula for a few days, I need advice on settling. We normally cosleep and he breastfeeds to sleep. I'm happy to continue cosleeping but how do I get him to sleep initially? Rocking and patting have never worked in the past.

I'm not stalking you CK! pwomise:p

DD went from having me give her boobie to sleep to DH giving her bottle to sleep....Millie has always fed to sleep one way or another:o

My little girl at about 9 months went to sleep without feeding if quiet classical/new age (ie wordless and without too much oomph) music was played - I just put it on repeat. Still works now. Very peaceful.

She by that stage was also a tummy sleeper - can't stop that rolling! - and seemed happier when put straight onto her tummy with a little bit of patting on her bum to start with.

Like MissK, it worked best to start with because someone else (other than the source of all amusement ie my breasts) put her to sleep.

Best wishes!

My DD is breastfed but has in the past month or so had comp feeds of formula. I find that if she is tired enough, it doesn't matter if it is breast or bottle, she will go to sleep feeding.

What do you do if they won't drink formula?

At one point, I stopped the during the night breast feeds. Aoife would not take a bottle at that point, so I sang to her and rocked her to sleep.
