My best friend and I are both pregnant for the second time. We both have everything we need for our bubs and share no mutual friends. However, we would still like to do something special to celebrate. We have both given up work, so it cant be expensive, but should be something to comemorate the fact that we are pregnant for the last time and for the first time together.
Any suggestions would be greatly apreciated.

Hi there
My friend was having her second baby and didnt want a baby shower as such, but just a little celebration. So we held an afternoon tea- and of course people brought things like nappies, wipes, toys, etc (some people will just do that) but i took a big basket of food- easy pasta sauces, vegies, packets of biscuits... to have the pantry full for when the baby was born so they didnt have to rush around with dinners.
So i guess you could have an afternoon tea and still play some games (guess the babies sex, birthdate, etc) but not go over the top with baby shower things?
We said on our friends invites 'come and celebrate a special time- a present is not required, but your company is :)'.
Hope thats some help!

Have you thought of having a Blessingway (a mother centred baby shower). My friend had one and it was a fantastic experience for us all, celebrating her impending motherhood. You can google 'blessingway' for more info or check out these links.

What about a high tea(late afternoon)or a early evening cocktail party where its a celebration of the fact that you are becoming a mum for the second time. You know, a celebration of you (and your bf). You can asks that if people do bring presents, that they are for the mummy not for the bub. You know food items, pamper packs, comfy slippers, mag subscription, etc.
You could make it a bit glam and have everyone dress to impress (you know pretty dresses, heels) and have cocktails/mocktails and yummy fingerfood for the guests and just really enjoy each others company.
did u want to invite frineds, if not why not a baby shopping trip and get both your bubs matching suits
the afternonn tea sounds good also

Some of those ideas are fab! Would love to do the cocktail thing, but its not really possable. We would not being doing a party thing as we dont want to invite people but thought we could do something for ourselves anyway.
We have decided on doing a lunch and a shopping trip, but I was hoping to stumble upon an idea to do something that would be special for us and we could keep in memory of this time.
Someone suggested the matching baby outfits, I like that, and also thought of maybe we could make matching necklaces for us and bracelets for the bubs.
If only I had more time, the high tea/cocktale party would have been great!!!!!

Oooh just had an idea, what about getting some glamour photos taken together, of the two of you with your bumps. Then when your little ones arrive get some done with the bubs as well. Doesn't have to be at a studio, maybe just someone you know who takes a really good pic. Then get matching frames and they can go in the nurseries.
Orrrrr, what about getting belly casts done together. Hmmmm if I think of anything else I will let you know:)
A friend did a property inspection and saw the tenant had two photos in one of the double frame things (iykwim). It had the woman standing there with her giant belly and in the next one had bub out on her belly holding bub in the same position. Maybe you could do something like that with both of you? I love that idea, but never actually got around to it :(

Hi if you're going shopping why not take time out to do a pregnancy massage or at the very least a foot massage or a pedicure.
Hope you enjoy your time together!
