Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and was wondering if someone may be able to help me.

My husband and I have just recently started TTC bub #1 (this is our first cycle - I was on the pill previously). What I'm wondering is whether or not I could possibly pregnant already. My body is starting to do alot of wierd things and I dont know if that's because I've stopped taking the pill, so its trying to get back to normal, or if maybe I could be pregnant (I would really like this to be the case!). My boobs have started to get really really sore lately (mainly my nipples) - it hurts to put a bra on and they have kind of changed colour and shape as well ?? It's pretty wierd. I have also noticed that I am hungry ALL the time and I need to pee every 1/2hr almost. I did a pregnancy test this morning which came back negative, however as AF isn't due for about another 6 days I'm not sure if it would be too early. What do you guys think?? Could I be imagining it? Or could it just be because I've stopped taking the pill? Any replies would be much appreciated

Hi Lou,
Perhaps your body is adjusting to coming off the pill, although you don't say how long you have been off it.

The symptoms you have are signs of pregnancy, but they are also signs of an impending AF!

Things get worse for some women when they come off the pill.

I have changed my BC a few times and each time went through what you are, kept thinking I was pregnant.

Now I am pregnant I had no idea that I was. The need for the toilet and sore nipples tend to come later.

I would wait see if AF comes, it would probably be to early with a home test I think I would test a few days after your due if AF doesn't appear.

Good luck hope you get the results you want!

Sorry I wasn't much help! but thought I'd add my thoughts!

you might be pregnant it happened like that for me twice!

You can also get tests now that show up 5 -7 days before a missed period so maybe in couple of days try again with one of these,

Good Luck!

Hi there
When trying for the 3rd cylcle with baby #2 i kept thinking i was pregnant. I did 7 tests and each one came back neg but finally i got a pos after heaps of home tests. Though a scan a wk later showed i was only 6wks along. Looks like i must have thought i was pregers when i concieved. My friend also knew she was preg when she concieved.

My signs were a strong metallic taste in mouth (always a pos sign but yuck)
tender boobs, peeing often, nausea.

Hope it is pos for you but if not keep trying that the fun in it.
Rachel

Hi, Lou its hard to say whether you're pg or not. You could be getting these signs because you've come off the pill because the hormones are winding down. They may also because you're pg. It's possible to get pg so soon coming off the pill. You can in fact get pg even if you skip 1 pill! I got pg with DS the same month i came off the pill. I have read that you are more fertile when you come off the pill but i dont know how accurate that is. Some of the signs you have said are very similar to pg signs so with a bit of hope you might be. I would wait to test when your AF is due. Its more accurate and you dont get weird and confusing readings. Best of luck with the testing and let us know how you go. Why dont you join the "Trying to Conceive in October" thread? There's some great girls there and they are all going through the same things as you are.

Hi Lou,

I've heard (and had confirmed by lots of friends and my GP) that you are very fertile the first month you come off the pill, but if you don't conceive that month, it can take a few months for your body to get back to normal... So who knows? You might be one of the ones who stops taking the pill and WHAM.. pregnant! That would be great!! No need for months of trying (though that can be fun ;)).

The symptoms you are having sound just like the ones I had. My boobs would get sore around ovulation time, but when I conceived they just stayed sore and kept getting sorer (at 11weeks they're still bloody sore!). The needing to pee came a little later for me, but I have a friend who had that as one of her first signs. One of the things I noticed about my boobs was these monster goose-bumps around my nipples (on the areola - sp?) and that was 6-7 days after conceiving. About 8-9 days after conceiving I woke up feeling like a truck had run over me - like a hangover or coming down with a cold.. just yukky!

I did my test at 9dpo and got a BFP. :D The test I used was Discover One Step Early Pregnancy Test - I've heard others report early success with it as well.

Good luck!!!

Hi Lou,

I am new to this forum also...welcome. Anyway I came off the pill in Feb this year (I was on it for 12 years) and didn't really start TTC until we got married in May. When I came off the pill it was terrible.I experienced the worst period pain in all my life, I broke out in pimples and the oil just flowed from my skin and hair, my boobs were sore, I was moody, I ate like a horse etc...
I recently noticed that my period was 2 weeks late and had some symptoms like nausea, even sorer boobs, my belly was bloated etc.Our fingers were crossed hoping for a little one so I did a HPT only to come back negative. Then a few days later my periods arrived.
You can buy HPT that determines 1 day after TTC which are supposed to be 99% accurate.
Good luck whislt practising anyway and hope you have a positive outcome.
:)

Hi, sorry I have been so busy lately I haven't had a chance to reply to you all!!

Unfortunatley, it must've just been my hormones going crazy after coming off the pill because AF arrived exactly when expected :( Oh, well there is always this month, and the next and the next!! At least DH will be happy!

Anyway I will keep you updated

Hi im 17 my boyfriend and I have not been using anything not even withdrawal for about a month and I have been having symptoms for about 3 weeks now, I have had 2 blood tests and lots more home test but they all say im not preg, I am now a week late and my breasts have gotten sore and maybe a little bigger. could all the tests be wrong?

HoopDeeDoo

if you're only a week late your hormone levels could still be low. But I would strongly recommend using some form of contraception condoms or the pill?

Let me get this ?? Your 17 and actually "Trying" to get pregnant ??

What's wrong with that? I deliberatly got pregnant at 16 at it gave my life some purpose. Getting pregnant saved me, besides, I CRAVED a baby from the age of 12. Some people develope maternal instincts earlier than others. A wanted baby will be appreciated and looked after properly no matter what age the parents are.

Hi again everyone.

I just thought that I'd update you all on whats been happening lately. I did a home pregnancy test on Sunday and guess what?? Two blue lines!! Yeah. But, here's the problem (I think??) The second line was very very faint. So I got DH to go and buy a different brand and the same thing happend! Deffinetly a second line, but it was still really faint. I did another one this morning and still the same thing. I really dont want to start getting my hopes up just in case I'm not, but I was just wondering if anyone else has been in this situation?

Now the other thing is that I'm not sure exactly when AF is due, so I dont know if I'm even late. This is only my second cycle off the pill. The first one lasted 32 days and I'm now up to day 31 of this current cycle, but I'm not sure if this cylce would last as long as the previous one (Sorry if this doesn't make any sense, I seem to just be rambling on!). This morning I have also had some spotting. Could this possibly AF?? Sorry I'm really confused ( as you can probably tell!!)

Anyway, I look forward to hearing all responses :)

Well two blue lines means a positive! If you are having spotting that can be a normal thing to happen early on in pregnancy. i would go and see your GP to do a confirmation test, and tell them you are having spotting and they will probably send you for an ultra sound. Small bleeds doesn't mean you aren't pregnant, very rare but some people still get their AF while pregnant. I had some spotting in the sixth week of my first pregnancy and all went well. Just got to see the little peanut a little earlier than normal.
Good Luck!

Thanks Lucky*Me for your reply.

I've made an appointment to see my GP this evening, but it seems like such a long wait! I just really want to know now!!

When the second line came up, at first I thought that I was imagining it! But then when I did the second test I realised that it was actually there, but it was very faint. Keep your fingers crossed for me!!

How faint is faint? Sometimes if you look udner a certain light, you can see the indentation of the where the line would be if it showed up.

If you can see faint colour in the line, then it's a posative.

Good Luck Hon...can't wait to hear the news! :D

Hay Lou its sounds like a congratulations is needed for you! :D It happened to me this time around. I had 3 faint lines for 3 days and guess what im now 6weeks pg! How did you go with the doctor? As long as you looked at the test within the time period they tell you then that means your pg. If you look at it after that time then it could be a condensation line, making a false +. Let us know how you go and im sure that ill see you in the "due in july thread"! :D

Thanks for your replies. I went to my GP yesterday and she did another test. This one came up negative!! She said that she doesn't trust them anyway so she did another one. This one had a faint positive. So I have to go and have a blood test today to find out for sure. I also mentioned to her that I had been having some spotting. So she then said that I should get an ultrasound done as well. I'm hoping that I'm going to be able to book that in some time today, and will then take these results back to her this afternoon because she will also have the results from the blood test.

I'm starting to get a bit worried though because this is the third day I have had spotting. I know that it's deffinetly not AF because it's dark brown in colour (sorry too much information!!) and not consistent enough. Has anyone else experienced something like this?

And another thing, the GP was pressing on my tummy and when she pressed on the lower left side it was really sore (silly me, I didnt even ask her what that means) but is that normal?

:( sounds like an etopic (tubal) pregnancy. They will know for sure with the ultrasound. I have my fingers crossed for you that I'm wrong ((((HUGS))))

Brown is good - bright red is bad, so as long as the blood is brown it could be your body cleansing itself of the old blood.

Good Luck with your U/S!!!!

Well, I went and had my blood test yesterday (And nearly passed out - How embarassing!!) And then I went back to the doctors for the results, and................... BFP!!! Yeah. Very exciting. Hopefully I won't experience the same thing you did M & M. That would be absolutely awful.

But I must admit that I am very worried that something will go wrong. I feel like I shouldn't be too excited about it in case something happens. Does anyone know what the chances of miscarriage are in the first 12 wks? I was even considering not telling our parents last night becuase I dont want to get their hopes up in case somethign goes wrong! Does anyone else feel like this?

Once you get to 12 weeks its considered the safe zone. I think everyone is worried about what could go wrong, and it's a big relief once you get to 12 weeks. I was 12 weeks yesterday, and hopefully will feel even better after my U/S today
I'm not sure what the stats are, it wasn't untill I found bub hub that I discovered that M/C aren't as uncommen as I first thought. Anyway try not to stress I'm sure everything will be just fine. I wasn't going to tell the family untill 12 weeks this time but I couldn't help myself, and told my mum on the way home from the doctors LOL :p (I had just found out for sure and was 5 weeks)
