Hi all

After a couple of long night sleeps I was :fingerscrossed: but last night Alex was up every 2-3 hopurs, Usually just after I'd managed to get to sleep again

Morning ladies
Kim what a gorgeous boy you have there.

Gail sorry you didnt have a good night. Maybe Alex is having another growth spurt and thats why he was waking up so frequently.

Jess I had the same problem with the nappies. I took a bag back the other day to swap them for the next size up. They let me do it too:yes:
Ive got all the kids xmas shopping done apart from Noah's. Ive got no idea what to get him:confused: as he will only be 10weeks old.

Debbie that is horrible. I know how it feels though I had the same problem. I was only saying yesterday to my mum how quickly my nipples healed (although at the time it felt like eternity). Its nice to feed him now without cringing and tensing up everytime he latches on.

Kylie-anne there is definately a resemblance there between you and Amelia.

Well after a few days and nights of a very unsettled baby we actually had a good night last night. Noah had his last feed before I went to bed at 9:30pm and slept till 2:30am then he stirred around 5:30am but didnt really wake till 6:30am. Im very proud of my little man after some horror nights of being woken every 2hours.

Hi all

Our little man is behaving pretty well :hugs: with a little more happy wakeful time each day. Last night he fed at 6.30pm, 12.30am, 4am and 7.30am - not too bad I reckon, but DP and I went to bed at 10.30ish and I just dozed with the lamp on because I thought he'd need a feed, so I could have had 2 proper hours of sleep in the dark. Oh well!

I also managed to get away by myself yesterday for a quick shopping trip and to walk the dogs this morning :)

I have been singing to Ripley but I keep crying because I get emotional - I've been singing him songs that he would know from being inside me because I was in a choir throughout my pregnancy and he looks as though he remembers.

PS Kim, Alex is a real cutie and BFK, I think Amelia does look like you a bit, but her cheeks are even fatter!

Yay :smiliedance: I'm child free for a couple of hours :fingerscrossed: They are both having a sleep atm. I have got a load of washing I need to get hung out on the line. I have had a very busy morning sorting through DS1 toys and rearranging furniture and bits and peices - I feel like I need to have a big household cleanout soon!

Mel - glad to hear you got a good nights sleep last night.

Mia - great to hear you have been able to get a few things done over the last couple of days and Ripley is behaving himself.

When Rylan settles in for the night he seems to have about a 4- 4.5 hour sleep first up then wakes 2-3hourly after that. Last night he went to sleep at almost 11pm and then woke at approx 3:30am then slept until 6:00am then back to sleep again for another couple of hours before he woke for a while.

Well, better go and have a quick sandwich and get back to the household chores again!

Hope everyone else is having a good day

Jess that's uncanny - Alex has the same sleep pattern as Rylan! He goes to sleep between 9.30 and 10 and sleeps till 2.30 - 3am every night, then gets up 3 hourly from there! They are well and truly in synch (sp?) with each other!

Alex's cold seems much better today - the nose spray works wonders it seems. His nanna and poppy came to see him today so he's been held all morning and consequently barely made a noise - he loves to be nursed! Will have to get him out of that pattern down the track, but for now, I can't help but give him all the love I can!

I took him to a chemist to weigh him this morning, and I barley beleived my eyes - he is now 4.18 kilos - up from 3.71 last week! He has put on exactly a pound! Is that excessive for one week?? On the plus side he's extremely content! :D

Mia it's so beautiful that you sing to Ripley and he remembers - they say that bubs really do remember all that went on in the womb - that certainly proves it!

Mel glad you have had a better night. Nothing like a little extra sleep to perk us up!

Hope everyones having a great day!

Hi everyone
I must log on more often! Or threads will be open and shut before I get to see them!!!
I've been blessed with a sleepy head. I'm SURE he just lies there with his eyes shut, listening and taking it all in! I'm just the "feeding beast" as DH says, but it must be a hard life for a baby having a liquid only diet;) If I remember from hospital being deprived of solid food wasn't much chop IYKWIM:D

I can't beleive there's some murmurs about using the BFP icon!!!!
With the C/S scar and the sore boobies I still can't lay on my stomach:banghead: (though I do miss my baby bump) Riki scinse you brought it up perhaps you'll be the first. BTW I haven't seen much noise coming from your kitchen?!? :detective: What gives?!?

Mia sounds like our babies are twins. Same sleeping pattern but the little devil wants to feed every hour it seems till midday.
Kim I hope your bubs feels better soon.
Mel somone told me in Target the other day don't go over board with nappies as they grow out of them so quick but I still need more and James is already 4.5kg (so send them over ;-) I'm sure they'll keep for the next one. I have heaps of left over maternity pads.

BTW when can one reconceive with the next after a c/s?
I'll be back....................

Kim I got the Medela mini-electric pump - I would have liked to get the swing model but don't think I can justify spending $300 on a pump.

It's a bit noisy but other than that seems to do a good job so I'm not complaining. Might be a bit hard to explain the noise when I'm expressing at our work chrissy party at the casino tho!!

We went to mum & bubs yoga today - Brylee wanted to be fed half way through the class but what the heck.. at least we went for a coffee afterwards :)

Nats I still cant lie on my stomach either, and I didn't have a c/s - just the sore boobies - I wonder if they ever desensitise, or do we have to stay off our stomachs till they wean

Hope you're all having a wonderful day...

Debbie I'm thinking of getting into the habit of expressing though I don't think I'll be going back to work yet but I'm sure it'll come in a handy skill. Does it mess up your supply???
Everytime I try to express I can only get out 30ml and one boob ends up going HUGE! Though I've got this great book Baby Love by Robin Barker. I'm yet to put the instructions to use....

Cass 24MONTHS?!!!????
What? why Oh why lord did I not have a good healthy fear of the epidural needle ????? With out that needle labour wouldn't have stalled and I would have push James's big fat head out with a 4th degree tear if need be but with my uterus intact!!!! See Cass I had the same prob as you. The cervical lip but my doctor didn't say it was possible to push past it so into theatre I went. I read that you did extremely well! Your a brave girl. I hope you cinceive again at an appropriate and convenient time and regale us all with tales of morning sickness, water retention and cravings good luck to you.

BTW here's a link with pics of James 2 days old. Hope it works -

I'm not in the pics as I was layed up in bed with a hammering epidural headache but that's DH in the red shirt.

Morning Girls:wave:

Far out I have a busy life these days!! LOL The weekend flew by in a blur and I have been out so much of late that Im glad for the days that I get to stay home, put on my trackies and slippers and go for the no-makeup look:D

This morning the CHN came a did a home visit and Harrison has put on over a kilo since his birth - she was really pleased with his progress and above all is a nice healthy chubba bubba:yes: I was so pleased - its nice to know that everythings in ship shape.

Harrison is a dream bub - he eats, has some waketime, usually about an hour(including the feed) and then goes back to bed to sleep for a couple of hours till he's due for his next feed. Last feed between 9.30-10.30pm and doesnt wake about 3.30am ish and sleeps on til 7am. Im just LOVIN him sooo much and love having a baby in the house again.

LOL Nats!! Dont think you will see any BFP icon coming from me lovie!! I think 3 children just might be my fill. Im pretty sure anyway. Ohh and you have missed the rattle in my kitchen because its been currently moved to that of the Cheescake Shop where I frequent regularly becuase Im completely and utterly OBSESSED with their mudcake!!! Man my cravings whilst breastfeeding are always so much worse than when pregnant - has anyone else found this?

Ok its time for a nooner on the couch I think - back later with some more personals:)

Nats that baby of yours sure has some WILD hair growing! My baby is just about bald.

Riki re the cravings, I just saw an ad for KFC "hotrods" which are like hot and spicy chicken pieces on a kebab stick, and I wanted them sooo badly! DP says he will get them for my birthday, I'm 37 on thursday, wonder if that's too old for #2?

I will fill in for Riki okay, because today I've made a lovely big apple pie and in the midst of making a ham, sweet potato and leek quiche. I have the in laws here this week.

Just fed and settled the little man, he's such a good bub really, except for the nipple attacks.

But don't let DH get the snip just yet cos you never know how you might feel a week from now right;)
But please can you be my doula for my next birth?!? I know how you like your births natural and I need some of your resolve!!!! Oh to have a VBAC that would be a :bfp: However I'm so lucky with "Spike" He's like your Harrison in temperament only he gets me up for a 12am feed as well as the 3.30pm.

Cass James hasn't lost any hair.....speaking of hairloss have any of you girls started losing yours yet. I haven't really but, damn it soon I'll have to start brushing my hair again lest it tangles.

Cass - LOVE you new Avator! Logan is a dish thats for sure! Man I cant believe you have to drive all that way to visit the rellies - they are supposed to visit you not the other way around! Some people have cheek sometimes. Yep I should be around here more but for some reason I always have to go out - really drives me nuts sometimes!! Its such a 3 act play these days:rolleyes:
Still I do really LIKE coffee....................................and chocolate mudcake come to think of it...

Mia your pics were gorgeous!! You just cant beat the black and white I reckon - its so classy especially when you have such a handsome chap there. I cant believe what you cooked today - WELL DONE! I took some mince out for dinner - Ive been waiting for it to turn into a slowly simmered bolognaise sauce but nothing seems to be happening so far..........lol. Oh and 37 is DEFINTELY NOT too old for #2! You still have plenty of fertile years in you yet lovie:-) Mmmmmm KFC hotrods......I went to get a works burger today whilst I was picking DD2 up from Kindy but forgot my purse:banghead:

Nats - Consider me your Doula then for #2!! lol course I have no training but Im sure I could shift your cervical lip out the way should it happen again......ok scuze me a second..........*hastily googles cervical lip* OHHHHH its down there!! Righto:-) and should you start asking for the epi I will tell you all sorts of lies about the anethitist(sp) on duty and then you will more than happy for me to just rub your back and tell you what a birthing goddess you are and to "PUSSSHSHHH through the pain!!"
ahhhh yes..........I hate the pushing..........dont think I want #4 now that I think of it.lol

Hey can you fall pregnant before AF returns? shucks I sure hope not:o Oh Cass - My AF when it returned with the girls was just regular so I would definitely be letting your OB know at your next check up. Mine hasnt come back yet - still getting leftovers from this birth. Leftovers?? Was that the right word? LOL

Hey Mel - How is Noah going today? Are you off shopping or are you snoozin on the couch?

I've been expressing every morning as DD sleeps for "too long" - she goes to bed around midnight and doen't wake up for a feed until about 6/7am. The problem being my boobs are ready to explode by 5am.

If you want to express at the same time each day your supply will adjust to provide the extra milk. I'm getting 50-60ml each morning so I'm saving 2 days worth and freezing in 100-ish ml lots.

Hehe Riki, yes you can fall pregnant anytime after 4 weeks

Okkkkk so anything that I 'got in' in the last 28 shouldnt count then right? Right? Ohhh please say RIGHT!!!!!!!!

After I gave birth to DD1 I got AF at 6wks and fell pregnant that cycle:eek:

Deb - Thats such a good idea to make 'extra' milk! I hadnt thought of that before. Im not sure is Harrison would take a bottle but it sure would be nice to be able to get away even for just one feed. I could squeeze in a movie or something. Thanks for the tip:thumbsup:

Evening ladies

Riki so good to see you back. Thanks for asking after us. Noah has been good for most of the day but hasnt slept much at all. He has been awake now pretty much since 3pm and its now 9pm:eek: How is Harrison going? He is such gorgeous little thing.
I hope that you cant fall pregnant just yet. Ive still got the leftovers from birth as well, not AF and I cant go on the mini pill till she comes back.

Cassie it took 4.5 months for AF to return for me after having DS1 and I bf him till he was 12months.

Kangaskippy sounds like Jack is doing really well.

Mia your so not to old to have another bub. Hmmm maybe you will be the 1st to get a :bfp: ....lol

Sorry to all Ive missed. Hope you all have a great night.

Hi mel - sorry just missed, posting at the same time. Rylan has been the same as Noah today - has only had a 20 min sleep all day  and has just gone down for the night now. I don't know how he's managing, if I were him I'd be  like a baby!!

Mia - sorry missed this earlier... don't be silly gal you are not too old for another by any means. In fact you were looking lovely in those pregnancy photo's if they are anything to go by! You look like you take good care of yourself, so go for it when your ready chicky ;)

Hey Ladies!

Long time no post! I've missed you all!! I'm so impressed that you're all finding the time - it's all I can do to load the dishwasher these days and have a shower!!

I'm loving all the updated Avatars - you've all got such gorgeous babies!! I'll have to update mine as Lauren has changed so much already! She's smiling now, which I love - just melts my heart when I get a big hello smile from her when I go to get her out of bed, just love it!!

We had a really crappy couple of weeks - she was really unsettled, screaming all day for no apparent reason and not sleeping a lot, but now that all seems to have settled down again. We even managed to go away for the weekend to a friends wedding in Berry this weekend and Lauren was a little angel for the whole thing - didn't even cry during the ceremony!!

I managed to get the pram out of the house (down heaps of steps) for the first time last week, so I'm starting to get some sort of sense of normality again, which is good - was going a bit stir crazy!!

Anyway, good to hear that you all seem to be doing so well and your little bubs look like they're absolutely thriving!

Luv n hugs, :hugs:

Hi

I think Alex is having a growth spurt - after being up every 2-3 hours last night, he had feeds every 2-3 hours today, but today he has cried less than any day for the last 2 weeks!!!!

Isn't it funny how DH's always think their illnesses are the worst?? Yesterday DH thought Alex had burst his eardrum (I'm not kidding  ) after only a 10 min cry/scream. I've had him crying/screaming all week by my ear and I"m fine!!

Oh - I almost forgot. I emailed Practical Parenting about some articles they had and they emailed me back today and asked if they could publish my email in the next mag, so I said yes. Then I looked at the last one and they were giving away almost $200 of beauty products if you get your letter published so :fingerscrossed:

Here you go. Nothing exciting.

Dear Editor

I just wanted to thank you for the great article by Silvana Giles, "Mothers' Group Dropout". I identified with it immediately and was glad to see that I'm not the only one who feels on the outside of the circle, especially when moving here from the UK when my daughter was already 7 months old.

I also wanted to say how brave I think Meaghan was in revealing her fears in Month 3 of her baby diary. Some mothers might have tried to hide that, especially when revealing it all in a national magazine publication.

Thanks also for the good read. At the moment, with a toddler and an eight week old baby, I just think how well I'm doing to get through your magazine quickly (I think) when the next one turns up on the doormat faster than I think is possible, but then, time flies with babies around.

Keep up the good work.

Kind regards

Gail

 Hey everyone. Been MIA for a few days...had a really hectic weekend. Even went out for dinner on Saturday night with all our neighbours. Was a bit reluctant because of the circus that Abbie usually creates in the evenings but thankfully she was a perfect little angel, and the other ladies were fighting over who got to hold her so I managed to eat my dinner while it was still hot! I can so relate to those of you who can't be bothered going out in case the little one is unsettled - it all seems too much of a hassle sometimes!

I think Abbie has dropped her 2am feed! The last few nights she has slept right through from 8 or 9 pm to 5 or 6 am! :fingerscrossed: that trend continues!

As for expressing, for the past couple of days DH has given Abbie one feed of EBM in the evening. He really enjoys it (nice for him to have a cuddle - it's basically the only time of day he gets to be near her when she's not cranky!) and it also gives me a bit of a break as she is still feeding every 1.5 - 2 hours during the day (sometimes I feel like she's been attached to me all day!). I then express as much as I can just before I go to bed, for the next night's 'daddy feed', which has the added advantage of leaving me with less-explodey boobs the next morning. I'm actually wondering if this has helped her to drop that 2am feed - maybe she gets a bit more of a full tummy????

Cassie you did ask what I do for a living that would let me take Abbie along with me...I work as a practice manager for a group of GPs - HR, IT, bookwork - all back-office stuff in a private room where she won't create too much havoc! I've only ever been 3 days a week in that job.

Sorry no time for personals...the princess has awoken!

Morning all

Definitely feeling rather perky this morning following a really good nights sleep. Alex went to bed after his 9pm feed and slept til 2am, but DH got up to do that one with some EBM I left for him and then he slept til 5.30, fed, went straight back to bed till 9am. Thankfully I went to bed straight after that 9pm feed, and got to sleep straight through til the 5.30 one, so I'm feeling refreshed and ready to go!

Mia - too old at 37! NO WAY! You're only as old as you feel

Riki - great to have you back on board! Luv the food stories! Harrison sounds like a dream! I really don't think you can fall pg this early, but who am I to say??!!!

Good to have you back Jen! Love the avatar! Lauren looks gorgeous!

Sammy you lucky thing having the 2am feed gone! I'd be jumping for joy! :smiliedance: The two hourly feeds during the day are more than enough to compensate I'd say! Sounds like you have a great routine worked out!

Cassie, March will come around in no time! I find the days fly by like minutes with a bub on the scene! It will give you time to enjoy Logan too.

Anyway, best be off to get a few things done before his highness wakes up! He's slept from his 9am feed, so he's being a real gem!

Casie how you manage with less than 1 hour naps at a time is beyond me! You must run on pure adrenaline! You must be counting seconds as well as minutes til your DH gets home to give you a well earned break!
Good luck at the Paed - I really hope he has some good advise/news for you about Logan. BTW - he's just too cute in your avatar!

Hi all:wave:
Hope your all having a grerat day. I just got home from going to my best friends place to try and regain a bit of sanity.:banghead: . DS1 had been driving me crazy all morning so I took him around to play with my friends little girl who is 12days older then him. He wore himself out and has just crashed out on the lounge. I was trying to get a few things done this morning and walked back into the room to find him trying to pick Noah up off the activity mat on the floor:eek: .

Goodluck with the paeds appt today Cassie. Hope all is well with Logan.

Kim nothing like a good sleep to "perk" you up! Hope DH does it for you every night from now on to let you get that extra sleep.

Sammy you lucky thing. Hopefully Abbie decides it is better to sleep instead of waking up for a feed at 2am every night.

Hi Jess, how is Rylan today? More settled then yesterday I hope.

Hi ladies! Happy Halloween!!

Thanks Kim! :D That's the most recent pic I've got of her a the moment - shame I was in it!! All photos of me at the moment have me looking like a panda - big dark circles under my eyes!! LOL! Tried to get some pics of her smiling today, but I kept missing it! Will try again when she's awake again later!

Mel - that's so cute! My best friend walked into her living room one day (upon hearing her little one crying) to find her toddler trying to rock her, but actually shaking her instead!! She was only trying to help, poor little thing, but gave her mum a bit of a fright! Oh dear!

Has anyone tried routines yet? I'm having another stab with Lauren now - the feeds are going according to plan, but she's been really wakeful today.

Hope you're all having a good day!

Mel that must've given you a bit of a fright! Still I wouldn't be too concerned...my SIL used to let her kids drag their siblings around 24/7 and it never seemed to do them any harm - babies must be pretty tough!

Cass hope you went ok at the paed...hope you got some answers! Couldn't imagine having to deal with all that on my own. If I was you I'd be putting in an order for a biiiig diamond for xmas from Simon - you've definitely earned it! Glad he's home soon.

Kimgotta love that good night's sleep! Good on your DH for giving you a break, too.

Jess OMG Rylan is sooo gorgeous! Great pics!

Jen good to hear that you've managed to get out & about. It makes such a difference to your mood. Sounds like you had a torrid few weeks there!

Rik you definitely can fall pregnant before AF comes back, so be careful! A good friend of mine has two little ones 11 months apart for that very reason! Sounds like Harrison is a little gem!

Hi everyone. He's waking up so I'll be quick! DP has just gone to change him. We're just back from a pram walk through the botanic gardens which was nice. Had him weighed again today and he has not gained very much :( and the nurse said we should try and feed him up more - only gained 100g in the last 10 days. He seems pretty healthy and developing to us though, oh well, get those boobies out!

SammyD
31-10-2006, 15:34
Mia we posted at the same time! Don't worry too much about your little one's weight gain...at least he is gaining and not losing weight. They don't always gain according to the textbook!

*Kimmy*
31-10-2006, 16:28
Thanks for reminding me bout Halloween Jen! I clear forgot. I forgot last year and figured no biggie -as no-one I know celebrates it, then got sprung by about 15 knocks on the door by kids trick or treating! I had to turn them all away - I had nothing to give them  I just sent DH to the shops to get some so I don't get sprung again - now you watch - noone will show up this year!

Mia don't stress too much bout Ripley's weight - I really do think our bubs have their own plan of attack that goes nothing like the rule book says! So long as he's gaining and not losing, I'd say he's fine.

I've been trying really hard to persevere with BFing only today, and avoiding the forumal top ups afterwards. So far so good - he hasn't had formula since his 9am feed. I really hope I can continue this, as I really want to exclusively breastfeed if I can. Doing both is a major hassle - means I have the nipple pains, supply worries and alcohol limitations (!!), as well as the sterilising, making up bottles, etc, etc.

Off to finsish off tea before the little man decides to eat again.

HI all

Just wanted to say that I love the new avatars everyone!!!

ALso, yesterday my DD wore proper pants all day at daycare (instead of toweling training ones) and then wore them at home instead of going "I WANT MY NAPPY" as soon as she gets in, as she's been wearing the toweling pants at daycare for months. Then today she wore pants until naptime, when we had a little accident and she put a nappy on for naptime but now she doesn't want to wear pants again. I gave her a huge cuddle after she had the accident and told her how proud I was of her and I just hope we do as well tomorrow!!

Oh and AF - Aunt Flo - I think refers to an old euphemism women used to use in public when talking about their periods "Aunt Flo is visiting next week", etc

:fingerscrossed: for good nights for all!!

:fingerscrossed: Cass with the medicine. Our dr put Alex on Losec last MOnday and we also changed his formula to lactose free and there was no real difference until yesterday when I realised I hadn't given him his Losec since Saturday so I think his digestive system has matured. According to an RN my MIL knows this is normal. The valve at the top of the digestive system doesn't mature until about 2-3 months old.

Jack was sooo good last night with his sleeping...

Usually he goes to bed around 10.30pm and the feeds around 3am and is up again around 6am (which by the way I thought was great!!! sleeeeep)..he only has cat naps of up to 1hr during the day...likes to play!!

but last night he slept from 7pm - 10pm, fed for 20mins then slept until 4 am, fed again for 20mins (I had to wake him up as he was eating his fist and my (.)(.)'s were about to explode)..then slept until 7am...wow...

and tonight is asleep again by 7pm...hope this becomes a habit! nice :)

well wishes to everyone on this forum, I love reading about how your little one's are progressing and all the information you lovely ladies have to offer...thanks again..

Well we had a bit of excitment at our house this arvo. Big storm blew in with hail 5cm in diameter! Damaged one of our cars and had the SES out here this evening to battern down the roof again. How did you other Hunter mums face up.... Mel? B-J? Hope you guys are o.k.

Sammy - Thanks for commenting on the photo's of Rylan I had posted earlier ;) I love taking B&W and sepia photo's. I bet your little girl is just adorable too  I'd really love to have a little girl one day.

Mel - Hi, Rylan did manage a to have a better sleep today. He had about 1.5 hrs.

DH got home early from work today - luckily too or we may have had hail damage to both cars! Rylan was actually having a  before the storm hit which is when I ducked out to visit a child care centre for DS1. When I was there I notice just about every child had the sniffles (TMI) green boogies hanging out of their little noses :barf:

Oh I cant believe it - I was the second person to post this morning and I wrote the biggest post full or personals to all and I get back on tonight and find that entire thing is missing!:banghead: GRRRRRRRRR! Now I dont have time to respond to everyone again becuase bubs is due for feed. How frustrating!!

But anyways.......hello to everyone:wave:

Harrison had his last feed last night at 10.30pm and then not again til 4am - its so exciting to see him stretch further every night!! Sammy I can just feel your excitement at Abbie sleeping through last night - its amazing how much refreshed you feel in the morning hey?

Cass - You poor love:hugs: - I honestly dont know how you cope, you are really strong - I would be bangin my head against the wall by now. Oh help me now I laughed SO much at your comment of "maybe when Simon flies in I will fly out"
I hope the meds from the Pediatrician work quickly and Logan starts giving you some good sleep:-)

Ok chics - gotta head off - will try come back later for some personals. I did THAT much housework today that we are having take out for dinner but ohhhh last night I made the lovliest dinner and the biggest fattest vanilla swiss roll filled with cream, covered in chocolate icing and topped off with strawberries that you EVER saw!!! It was fabulous:-) I have eaten so much of it today that I feel truly nauseas..............that or Im pregnant! LOL

Evening ladies

Jess we didnt even get the storm down here thank goodness. Hope the roof is all secure again now. Noah had an ok day. Catnapped off and on but has decided to really be unsettled from about 4pm till late. Hope its not a habit he is going to get himself into.

Cass good to hear the paed is going to try and sort Logan out for you.:fingerscrossed: the medication works.

Kanga- sounds like Jack is getting into a nice routine for you there. Hope he keeps it up.

Gail- thats great about your DD going all day in normal undies. Dont worry if she relapses for a bit its quite normal especially with all the change going on having a new sibling. She will get back into it soon enough. My DS1 has been kind of toilet training himself. he will refuse nappies most of the time when we are at home and rarely has accidents but Im not brave enough to do it when we go out.

Riki- Dont you hate when you lose such a long post. someone said to do it in word then cut and paste it in so it doesnt get lost in bubhub neverland. Thats fantastic about Harrison sleeping for so long of a night.
Oh and your swiss roll and all the trimmings sounded soooo yummy! Hmm might just have to jump on a plane and come and have a coffee and one of your yummy baked creations with you....lol:laughing:

Best be off for now and go and do something constructive.

Just got the dude down for the night - boy he was persistent to keep his eye's glued on me tonight.

Ahh Mel, good to hear that nasty storm didn't stop by your neck of the woods!

Kangaskippy - Your bubs sounds a bit like mine. He doesn't really cry during the night when he wakes for a feed, I just hear him grunting in his basinet moving his head from side to side trying to find these (.)(.) or eating his fist.....but he doesn't go down as early as your bubby - what ka good little boy!

Riki - one word for you 'Yummy'! :D Oh yeah... I've had that missing post with a looong list of personals happen to me too... Grrrr!

Cass - Glad to hear your appt for Logan went well :fingerscrossed: for the little dude hope he starts feeling better and you gain a little more time on your hands.

Jen - How are your felines taking to having a  baby in the house? Good to hear from you too!

We got take out tonight.... Domino's two for Tuesday, with..... choc fudge brownies :shame: Oh dear! They weren't big enough...Grrrr!

Night, night gals....

Mel - Dont you just hate those evening fussy times with bubs:rolleyes: ? They are always at the wrong time of day. I wish they would happen in the morning - not at the time when you want to veg on the couch (or computer lol) and watch a little tv etc or worse when you are in the middle of bathing kids and cooking dinner at the same time.

Oh and just let me know when you land and I will pick you up at the airport:) *quickly runs off to make up the sofa bed*

Harrison fussed for a while tonight but I was too exhausted to mess around so in the cradle he went and soon dropped off to sleep. Going to have a shower now before his last feed and then I can go to bed. So tired tonight - had such a busy housework day!

Jess - Oh I SO want to try those brownies:yes: !! Everytime the ad comes on my mouth starts to water - hmm come to think of it maybe I should cook some tomorrow:chef:

Thanks Mel. We were just leaving for the shops this morning when my MIL turned up (love her - she's coming over one day a a week at the moment and staying over so she cooks, etc :D ) so I left Alex and the nappy bag at home with her and only on my way into the shopping centre did I realise I had Jess in pants for the first time with no back up as her nappy was in teh nappy bag :banghead: so I just made sure we went to the loo when we got there (very cute in one cubicle they have a big toilet and a little one so we *TMI* went together!!) and then bought nappies and wipes in COles and put them in my handbag :D

Yesterday I was looking at my last piece of UK chocolate in the drawer and wondering whether to go to "Treats from Home" and order some more, and (this is true) there was a knock at the door and postman left a package from my friend with chocolate in it :smiliedance:

Im doing really well - thank you for asking:o Harrison is really settling in well in our little fam. I just changed my avator from his birth pic to his 4wk one and man it made me soooo sad. Why does it have to go sooo fast? I just love your avator - the look on his little face with his mouth open like is completely adorable. Did he really start smiling that young? I think its more the fear then anything for most women after they have there bubs.

Morning...

We had a bit of an up and down night last night. First sleep 3 hours then woke 2 hourly after that.... is there a 6 week growth spurt???I'm actually so proud of myself and Rylan this morning. I was able to put him into his bassinet and leave him to settle himself, he was quite content so I think that made it easier. Hope we can both stick to that arrangement!

Awww.... what a cutie boy Noah is in your Avatar Mel! Oh, how I just love babies!!

B-J good to see you pop in and hear Zoe is still being wonderful for you! Rylan is in 000's too but  even they are looking a tad small now. Might have to pull out the 00's soon!

Doing the deed...Hmmm :o I had an episiotomy with my first bub so I waited for the all clear at my 6 week check, then got stuck into it after. This time I had second degree tears - I feel o.k. down there but I'm just making DH wait until after my 6 week check again  Mel I agree with you when you say - it's a mind thing... fear of it hurting etc. I have a great GP - she has 5 children of her own and she's youngish still (late 30's) and she said the more you prolong having sex after having a baby the worse it will be (psychologically) on you. I have my 6 week check up tomorrow so that means I will need to start giving it up

Well, I'm going to try and venture out today to get a few things done. Hope you all have a lovely day.

P.S Sammy with your hail damaged car - were they able to repair it or was it a wright off? I'm hoping they are able to repair ours as it is worth more to us than what we currently have it insured for as we had done some mods to it after we got it and it's only insured at market value when we should of had it insured at an agreed value. PM me if you want . I'll BBHL though.

Jack was such a good boy again last night...even after I dragged him off to sydney to visit my work/office and my husbands office...big day for him...

So after all that he was asleep by 7.30pm - 1am(woke me up due to him chewing on his hand again, but no cries of hunger??) then back to sleep, more hand chewing at 3am, but still no cries..then up at 6am for a short feed before another sleep till 9am... I have had the best 2 nights sleep since he was born...feeling so great today!!! and now he has gone back to sleep at 10.45am...I must have tired him out yesterday, and I thought he would be very unsettled due to the excess people and outside the house activities...wow..

I also have been waiting for my 6 wk check up before resuming sex...Had that on monday, so hoping to try this weekend and see if it all still works! ahhahahaha

Finally - i get to come onto the internet. DD's easy, it's the rest of my life that takes up too much time.

I accidentally bought a car yesterday, we went to an auction and so I got excited and bid on a car, but then everyone else stopped bidding and we got it! It was sooooo stupid - now we have a car that might not even work! But I was DESPERATE for a new car, I hate putting DD in our other little car, it just seems too dangerous. I'll only be happy with myself if it turns out to be an ok car.

DD has two 5 hour sleeps at night and doesn't eat much in between.

I LOVE waking up to her in the morning (i put her into our bed after her 7am feed) because she wakes up smiling and 'talking' to us - much better than crying! I'm glad I had her while we are studying, because we both get to sleep in and talk to her all morning as a whole family.

Oh okay, I had a normal VB but a 2nd degree tear. I think the ob did a good job on the stitches though, it all looks pretty neat lol. Didn't have any issues with the repair work except for tenderness and bruising initially. And my pelvic floor seems to be in good shape (must be all those exercises) Since some of you have starting doing it already I guess I will give it a go soon omg.

Little Ripley fed at 2am and 5.30am overnight, so not too bad. I have to try and help him put on weight a bit faster so he is getting woken up and fed today. I still haven't registered his birth, we have 60 days but I think I might try and do it today.

My god no way I was waiting anywhere near 6 weeks  , I walked out of hospy with a prescription for the minipill & was chasing DH around a few days later! I had no tears or stitches, though. It's really not as bad as you imagine, just take it easy the first few times.

Fruitjuice I like cuddling up with Abbie in the mornings, too. This morning she slept in till 9.30!

Cass good luck with the medicine, hope you see an improvement soon. Hubby is home tonight, isn't he?

Morning Girlies:wave:

Had an ok night - Harrison has a cold and woke up twice for a feed, very out of the norm for him. Poor little bloke - its so frustrating when they are sick and you are trying to work out if they are in pain, tired etc. Puts my mothering skills to the test I guess!! LOL My DH was so crook with the flu that he had to call in sick and is currently flaked out on the couch:sleeping: So today I have 2 sickies to feed and look after - good thing DH is toilet trained though heh heh.

BJ - Good to see you here - we miss you and those crazy avators! Im in the same boat as you re: the contraception thing - only Ive done it more than once:o So here's to 2 BFN for us!! lol

Morning Mel :-) - How did Noah sleep last night?

Cass - Good Luck with your check up today - and squeezing that shower in too! lol hope you get the all thumbs up to fall pregnant again!

Jess - Its so great when they can settle themselves isnt it? Frees up a lot of time for yourself I find. Harrison gets better at it everyday - sometimes fussier than others but we're getting there. I know what you mean about the growth spurt - bubby is almost out of his 000 already - last night I actually put him in a 00 and there was no room left in the arms for any growth at all! But a little extra leg room though. Hope you have a nice day out today:-)

Kangaskippy - Well done - it sounds like your bub is doing fabulously! Isnt it so much fun to show him off to your work friends? I used to love that - havent worked in a while now, 5yrs come to think of it so havent been able to show him off like that this time around.

Fruitjuice - Good luck with the car!! Sounds like bubs is sleeping well - how lovely:-) Hope your study is going well.

Mia - Getting up just the once at night is great hey? I always find it makes a big difference to how I feel the next day. So how is that :bfp: coming along? lol

Sammy- Im with you girlie - couldnt wait 6wks this time around LOL!!

Lee and Kim and Deb - How are you girls going today -anything exciting cooking up in those kitchens?! LOL :-)

Oh Sammy.... you are a brave woman! Chasing after your DH only a few days after birth. You are very lucky not to have any stitches down south. Would have been a little bit messy though :o

Mia - I didn't have to worry about registering Rylan's birth or putting the Family Assistance Maternity payment in as DH ran out of the hospital with the papers in his hot little hands and done it all. He wanted to make sure I didn't make any changes to anything :D

fruitjuice - your DD sounds like a gem - 2 x 5hr sleeps, that's great! Good to hear you are really enjoying motherhood. I hope the new car works for you (fingerscrossed).

Phew, what a day!!

What a week actually...

Sounds like most of us are getting the hang of this parenting business (or getting the hang of having an extra LO in the house for those having their 2nd/3rd/4th/5th...) - now the first few weeks seem like a bad memory - were we really feeding every 1-3 hours around the clock? I think my memory's starting to fade - is this why we go back for the next baby???

Monday we went to mums & bubs yoga, yesterday was mother's group (at the child health clinic) then food shopping afterwards, and today was a bub hub mother's group and some non-food shopping. I think I need to stay home tomorrow!!

I also got a call from work asking if I want some contract work between now & christmas (up to about 25 hrs a week, but I can do the vast majority of it from home - they'll give me a laptop :) ) and I said yes, so just have to wait & see how much & when it'll be - the $$$ will definitely come in handy with Christmas just around the corner (and I miss earning my own money already!)

Last night I made Porcupine Balls for dinner (no, not some wierd endangered species stuff, just mince, lol), so now I have to figure out what to have tonight....hmmm maybe something with chicken...

I should go & get the shopping out of the car - when we got home Brylee was wimpering for a feed (wimper comes before screaming/hyperventilating) so I just came in & fed her - I THINK she's just gone down for a (late) afternoon sleep, so fingers crossed...

Have a great day everyone!!

Evening all!

Hope everyone is well.

Cassie - SS to hear that you're having a rough time, good luck with everything - hope it all works for you. :hugs:

Jess - my cats HATE Lauren!! They hated me too til last week - wouldn't speak to me when I came home from hospy and have pretty much given us both a wide berth ever since!! Mog is the soppier of the two and she now meows at me all the while Lauren is crying, as if to say "pleeease make her stop!", so funny (except for when I'm feeling frazzled, then it just adds to the stress!). Meg is totally jealous and everytime I bring Lauren near her, she just heads off elsewhere. Poor things, they're not getting nearly as much attention as they used to get, but it can't be helped.

Well, last night Lauren slept through from 11pm til 5.50am this morning, which was great, but she's been a little horror today, has barely slept and been crying all day!! Aaargh! Still, I'm sure the good night's sleep is helping me cope better!

Sex - I haven't gone there yet, my tummy is still a little tender after the c/s (even if I lie on my side), so DH is going to have to wait a little longer!

Right, I'd better go and try and grab some dinner while she's quiet (first time today) before she starts screaming again. DH is at TAFE again tonight so won't be home until after 10pm again...grrrr. I'm trying to be supportive, but three nights a week plus locking himself away at weekends to work on projects etc. is a little unfair to me and Lauren - I'm wondering if he's using it as an excuse not to get involved....?! And then he moans when I get all the smiles or she cries when he holds her!! Thinking of just leaving him a supply of expressed BM this weekend and just going out for the day - might do the two of them the world of good!

Anyway, I digress...night night.

Love n hugs and sleep dust to all, :hugs:

Jen xxx

Hi everyone,

Wow - another busy day on the hub! DH, DS and I have been out visiting relies yet again. I guess I shouldn't complain - most of them have come to see us, but I'll be so glad when these visits aren't a pre-requisite anymore! We are taking Alex in to DH's work tomorrow, and I want to get him some more little outfits, so tomorrow's shaping up to be another busy day...

Doing the deed.....hmm...DH keeps asking when we're 'allowed to', and I haven't had the heart yet to tell him that there's really no time requirement - it's just whenever I feel ready! Mind you, I did have an episiotomy, and so I was still tender till a week or so ago. I must admit tho I feel great now, and probably have no reason not to!

Cassie I hope you have a well earned sleep tonight followed by a nice relaxing day tomorrow - just point DH in the direction of the bottles and formula, and leave it up to him - you deserve your rest.

I'm so jealous of all those of whom have bubs sleeping in large blocks. Alex has a long sleep from 9 ish to 1 or 2am, but then wakes 3 hourly again. I guess he's still not yet 4 weeks (hmmm - that changes as of tomorrow!), but one does get a little impatient! He does sleep quite a bit through the day though, so I guess I shouldn't whinge too much. Plus I still have DH at home - he had 5 weeks off work, so I've had tonnes of help. Unfortunately he can't help too much with the feeds while I BF, but he does enjoy giving Alex his top up bottle straight after..

My back has really been bothering me lately, and I am so worried that it has to do with the epi that I had. I suffered no headaches, and the anaesthetist did a great job putting it in - first time, no pain. However I've had daily back aches since, that get to the point where it hurts to sit, stand or lie and is particularly bad when nursing Alex as it puts even more strain on my back... I should get it checked out, but how can the docs possibly tell if it is a side-effect from the epi? And more importantly, if it is, there's nothing that can be done from what i hear.... The thought of dealing with this for the rest of my life though is utterly depressing.

ANyways, hope everyones having a great day and catching some early zzzz's.

BTW - Pinch and a punch for the first day of the month!!!

*Quickly unlatches the baby... pops him into his crib and tip toes out to the lap top*.... :D what's happening on the hub??? fingerscrossed he keeps quiet!

Cass, :hugs: I would drop by and offer you a break if I wasn't so damn far away - I'm great at juggling a few littlies in my arms  Do you have any support close by? What's Logan like when you go out? I know Rylan seems to sleep more and feed less when we are out then when we're at home - must go out more often.

When I was out today a old man pulled me up and stood in front of Rylan's pram - he was gooing over Rylan and asking me all these questions about him. You don't often see a man stop in his tracks to admire a little baby!

Ooh...Oooh - I hear a squawkin in the room, DH's gone to check.

Kim - I hope your back feels better soon. I don't know anything about epi's as I haven't ever had one. I hope it's not a permanent thing fingerscrossed I have heard some bad stories about them.

Jen - When our cat saw the baby first she kept her distance too - didn't like the baby... her face was like  what the heck is that thing!! She still keeps her distance now but is a little more sociable.

Deb - you have been a busy busy mummy! hope you have a relaxing day tomorrow.

Sorry I've got to go service the mouth of a whingy baby...

Bye, bye....

Hi all

Ive had a pretty busy day myself like alot of you. I find if I stay at home I end up going a bit stir crazy so I went out to the shops. I was on a mission to buy a box of huggies nappies (Woolies have them on special for $29.99:thumbsup: ) only to find they didnt have any in infants size.
Noah decided he needed feeding so off we toddled to the parents room and while I was feeding him my girlfriend took her DD to the toilet and I thought DS1 had gone in there with them. When she came out I asked where Callan was only to find he had locked himself in one of the feeding rooms. The door has a lock on it like in the toilets. he couldnt turn it to unlock it. I was waiting for him to start screaming and panicking but the little bugger was just sitting in there singing to himself or calling out "I come out now?" Lucly that there was a cleaner around who radioed for someone to come with a screwdriver to get the door unlocked and let him out.

Riki Noah had a restless night last night. he woke every 2hrs unfortunately. The only good thing with him is that he only feeds for about 10mins then straight back off to sleep. How is your gorgeous little man going?

Cass sorry to hear you are having a rough one today. bet your counting down the minutes till DH gets home.

Jess that was very sweet of the old man. Hope Rylan gives you a good night when he finally goes down.

Kim- Noah is much the same as Alex and has one big block of sleep from about 9ish till 1-2am then every 2-3hrs after that. It will get
better.

Jen you lucky thing. Im sure having a decent night sleep does help you cope lot better with a baby that wont sleep during the day. We had a rough one with Noah last night and he has slept most of the day. Hoping he sleeps well tonight.:fingerscrossed:

Debbie- great news about the work and the extra $$$ for xmas. Im sure that we must forget the sleep deprivation, cracked nipples etc and thats why we do go back again....lol

Kanga- there is a few of us that dont live to far away from each other. As Jess said it would be good for us to all get together one day. Where abouts in the newcastle area are you? you dont have to answer that if you dont want to.

Sorry if I have missed anyone. My post is way too long as it is.

Ahhh... FINALLY... now it's time for me to have some sleep BUT... not before a Lindt milk choc ball and a quick post....mmmm :D

Mel - I rocked up to the local wollies today with my 2 bags of Newborn Babylove nappies and thankfully they gave me a swap for 2 boxes of the Huggies nappies that were on sale for $29.99, I didn't even know they were on sale! So I was rather stoked when I handed those useless Babyloves over for the Huggies and only had to pay an extra $2 Yeah, I was looking hi and low for the Infant size but found out Huggies don't manufacture them in the large box... so I went for the 6-11kg crawler size - he'll be in them in no time at all anyway. I was just glad to get rid of the others!

:shame: naughty Callan... tipical two year old boy. I'm forever calling out to Hayden when we go out, he's always walking away looking at this and that. I feel like a broken record "HAYDEN...HAYDEN...HAYDEN" :banghead:

I think all the bubs are similar with the feeding frezy that goes on in the evening, then the big 4 hour block sleep, then waking every 2-3 hours.

Lee - how you going lately.... you've been MIA for a few days???

O.K I've had my little fix of 'ME TIME' soooo short these days  now it's off to catch some ZZzzzz's

Hi all, I am located near Morisset...and would be happy to form a group of local hubbers for a chat...haven't gone to any mothers groups yet, but am interested...

Jack did another great night of sleep...7.30pm to 2am (feed) then slept till 6am (feed) and another nap till 8.30am...although he is happily playing in his bed at the moment...

He seems to be getting easier every day...(now that he can play in his gym when awake and sleeping a bit longer..) and he is sooo much more fun now...I love being a mum and can't believe it took me so long for the first one...:)

Well Alex definitely had a good night. He slept from his 8.30pm feed till 2am, then fed and went back to sleep till 6.30! Yay - only had to get up once! I would normally then try and go back and catch a few more zzz's til his next feed with him, but we have to go out again today. Off to show him of to DH's work. He's all dressed up and looking gorgeous and ready to go!:D

I hope my back will hold out for today. Not liking the limitations it puts on me - bit like being pregnant again

Oh Mel - I shouldn't laugh but I couldn't help but have a littel giggle at your story. I keep picturing your little man sitting in there singing to himself! Least he wasn't in distress. He wont do that again I'd say!

Jessica well done on the exchange! I have a few packs of babyloves that my SIL has got for me as she works at a supermarket, so she didn't pay for them, however I didn't have the hear to tell her I prolly couldn't use them. I haven't tried as they are too big for him at the moment but I've heard stories that they're pretty well useless.

Hope everyone had a great night and is geared up for a good day too!

B-J :D Yup... wrong choice of words, dare I say? Oh...shut up Jess

Kim - I found the Babylove nappies excellent when Hayden was still in nappies as a toddler and a few other mums I know also think they are great for the older ones, but unfortunately not as good for Newborns.

Kangaskippy - good to hear you and bubs had a good one last night. Ahh Morisset, my DH grew up in that area.

Well, I'm off to my 6 wk postnatal this morning... so time to start getting everyone organised so we can get out the door on time.

Cass :hugs: hope your hubby gave you a well-deserved break last night and you managed to get some sleep

Jen don't blame you for feeling a bit put out with DH's night classes! I always look forward to mine getting home so I can have a few minutes of peace, so when he has to do something after work (which really isn't that often) it's quite disappointing. He was funny last night, had been home for only about 10 minutes (I handed Abbie to him as soon as he walked in the door!) when he started complaining about how time consuming it was looking after her! Duh tell me something I don't know!

Kim sounds like Alex is doing exactly what Abbie was...having a good block of sleep the first time she went down at night, followed by shorter blocks afterwards. You might find that while the shorter blocks will remain, the first block will get longer and longer until he's basically sleeping through. Have fun showing him off...I love getting Abbie dressed up like a little doll!

Mel pretty funny story about Callan in the feeding room...lucky he wasn't too worried otherwise it would've been pretty awful!

Jess mmmm Lindt balls.... :D I'm not really a chocoholic but those things are just divine! Trouble is I can't stop at one, I'd have to eat the whole box.

Well I have to take Abbie to the doctor later this morning. She has a really gluggy eye, poor little thing. That eye has been a bit sticky in the past, and I've cleaned it with breastmilk which always worked quickly. But this time...I noticed it yesterday and this morning it's heaps worse...really yellow pussy discharge and it's a bit red and swollen, so it really needs looking at.

Hope you all have a great day!

Sammy - Rylan has had a sticky eye for some time too. I have also used my breast milk and I'm forever wipping it. Yesterday I droped into the chemist and got some saline so I've been using that and it seems like it's gotten worse - maybe getting worse before it gets better? I'll check with doc todat too.

Yup, Ripley was on some insane clockwork mission overnight, I swear I put a nipple in his mouth at 1.03am, 4.03am and 7.03am! I have to wake him during the day/evening sometimes, but he knows when 3 hours is up in the middle of the night

He's so good though, the settling is really going well, hardly any crying and goes to sleep in his cot. He doesn't seem to sleep all that well in the pram when we are out, but that's okay.

We are off to post natal exercise class today. My abs are still separated unfortunately, I have to do lots of tummy sucking in. Oh and it's my happybirthday today and my DP is making a special dinner for me.
Riki I can't believe how "NEVER AGAIN" I was after the birth, and now I am thinking maybe about #2 .

Have your bub's pooing habits changed? Ripley used to poo a little nearly every nappy, but over the last few days he is more of a big-poo-once-a-day guy. Assuming that's okay as long as he is happy etc.

Kim, hope your back gets better fast. As if we don't already have enough to deal with!

It was our wedding anniversary on the 30th, I was spoiled:D . We had a good night together hehe.
My bestfriend had a baby boy on the 29th he was only 2.490 kg so so tiny Lachlan looked sooo big next to him!!!

Morning ladies:wave:

Mia have a happybirthday . Hope your day is fantastic.
As for the pooing habits they do change. Noah went from one just about every nappy to one every other day.

Sammy Im sure the Dr will give you something to clear up Abbies eye.

Kim its ok to laugh about Callan. I wasnt at the time but I am now. I rang DH when we got home and told him what happened and he had them all laughing at his work when he told them. I hope your back holds out for you today. Have fun showing off Alex.

Kanga Im about 15 minutes from Morriset (south). Thats great about jack's sleeping. Its great when you only have to get up once during the night.

Jess yay for Rylan sleeping for such a long time last night. Do you find your (.)(.) are ready to pop when he goes for so long? I find that with Noah then when I go to feed him I nearly drown the poor thing. When Im that engorged I usually lay down to feed him as it stops it from flowing out as fast.

I was starting to think Brylee was the only one pooing almost every nappy still - glad to know we're not alone Sammy!! Although she does miss a few poo's now so we do have some wet only nappies - it's always a pleasant surprise :)

I think being out 3 days in a row wore Brylee out - she slept from 1am till 8:45, then back down after a feed until midday!! I feel like the day's slipping away from me but what the heck...

I "have" to go shopping again at some stage.... our work Chrissy party's on the 25th and the dress code is cocktail - I don't think any of my dresses will fit (still a few post-baby kg's to lose) and/or be suitable for breastfeeding or expressing (depending on what I end up doing). Hmm should see if the venue has somewhere for me to express too - I don't mind b/f in public, but expressing in public's a bit different!!

Have a great day everyone.

Hubby's xmas party is on the 25th, too. I'm actually going to leave Abbie with MIL (still not sure how I'll cope with that, haven't left her for more than an hour before :o ). God I haven't even thought about what I'll wear yet  . Prolly be a bit of a big night, thankfully I have a good supply of frozen EBM, because I have a feeling I'll have to express & discard the pickled milk after I get home!

I'm still not really comfortable BFing in public... mainly because I still have to use nipple shields to get her to attach - so it's not like I can discreetly pop her on the boob...it's all hanging out there! And I'm with you Debbie, not real keen on expressing in public, either, can you say MOOO?!

Thxx for the birthday greetings ladies and the advice on pooing frequency, that's very reassuring. I have to eat my words a bit because he did another big one while we were out, so that's TWO big ones today already. And he has fed nearly exactly 3 hourly since 1am - already done 5 feeds today and it's not yet 3pm, surely he's gaining weight fast now.

True to his word, DP came home with KFC HotRods for lunch and is off grocery shopping for my birthday dinner so I think it's nap time.

Well I'm home from my Doctors appt and straight into the couch potato clothes...Ahhh feels so comfy :D

Sammy - good to hear you got some antibiotic drops for Abbie's eyes. I just have to keep an 'eye' ( ) on Rylan's over the next couple of days and keep washing it with the saline.

I'm not really one to 'demand' BF in public either. I prefer to feed Rylan straight before I leave and take a dummy with me. He survived 3 hours today between feeds and I have only fed him the once since I got home now he is  in his bouncer. At home I demand feed him but when I go out I like to stretch his feeds a little sometimes. He really doesn't seem to want to feed much when we go out compared to when we are at home.

Mel - I BF Rylan laying down in bed at night all the time. It's so much easier, comfortable and doesn’t disturb others in the house. I just pop the lamp on in the lounge over night which gives me enough light to tend to Rylan throughout the night. I'm finding now my milk is adjusting and my (.)(.) aren't feeling so engorged. My milk use to leak everywhere in bed a few weeks back, even when he use to sleep for just 3hrs. I would be feeding from one breast and the other would just start leaking like a tap! Now they are full of plenty of milk but they aren't dripping everywhere iynwim. Unless he only has a quickie from just one breast after a big block sleep and can't be woken.... then I'm in trouble with the other one (fully loaded!) Which happened last night.

Mia - Rylan has done two poops for me today too. Usually it's one can be two or sometimes none.

Lee - good to hear from you. Sorry to hear you have been flat out but on the upside sounds like you really enjoyed your anniversary :yelclap: Congrats.

My postnatal went fine got the pap over and done with for another few years and got a jab in the arm to check iron levels. Got to go back in two weeks now for Rylan's needles. Who else is getting their bub the new oral vax for gastro (it costs about $110)??? My doctor strongly advises mum's to get it.

BJ that's amazing - I'd give anything to not have the 2/3am feed! Well done!

Quiet day here on the hub.....hmmm..is everyone having an exceptionally busy and productive day or a really bad one??!! I hope it's the earlier one!

We had a busy day - only got home not long ago after leaving the house at 9am! We took Alex to see DH's work - they loved him! I couldn't beleive it though, out of about 15 people that we saw, about 9 of them were pregnant! Must be something in the water!

We then went and looked around for an outfit for Alex for Xmas. I found this gorgeous outfit - it's the Guess brand and it's shorts, t-shirt and shorts with matching shoes....:o too cute! DH nearly had a heartattack at the price tag, but I convinced him it's a special occassion, and well worth it, as it's really good quality.

We had a lovely lunch at a cafe and went for a long walk, then came home - all in all a great day.

Hows everyone else doing??

Well, what a relaxing arvo/ evening I've had. Rylan has been in limp mode since my last post. He has fed twice and has gone straight back to sleep again. So fingers crossed he will be like that for the rest of the night. I think his growth spurt has just ended. I found with his growth spurts @ 3wks and 6wks he tended to feed lots and sleep less during the day in the weeks leading up to weeks 3 & 6.

Oh yeah, when I was at the doctors today for my postnatal she did a breast check and advised me that Rylan has given me a little hicki on my nipple :p I had no idea but as soon as she told me she said "night feeding" and I knew straight away that it happened last night during the 4am feed. I was half asleep when I offered him my one of my (.)(.)'s and he was snapping away like a baby croc and latched onto the side too quickly  I was like Aaarrrgggh... what the heck??? Ooopsi :o wake up Jess!

Kim - glad to hear you had a nice day out today. The Guess outfit sounds like a stunner.... I can just imagine the price tag too! There's not much else you can get bubs for xmas yet - being too young to know who the man with the long white beard is anyway so why not spoil your little man Alex and dress him in style!

Cass - that be right... DH comes home and the baby becomes a little angel :fingerscrossed: he was just going through a faze before and now he is on track, hey!!

Evening all

Well we went out and about again today. Went and had lunch with my mum and sister then went for a stroll through the shops. I went to get some portrait pics of the 2 boys together but both were very uncooperative. Noah was too tired and Callan....well he was just being Callan....lol
Cass good to hear Logan is being a good boy for you. Atleast you get to spend a little bit of quality time Simon while he is home.
With the vax for cervical cancer it is not available to women who have had a previous Hx of CIN. I had CIN3 removed in November last year. I asked my gyn if I was able to have the vax when it becomes available but he was the one that told me that it wouldnt work on someone with a previous history. The only way to prevent it is to have very regular pap smears.
Jess I find that with Noah too with the more wakefulness and cluster feeding just before a growth spurt. LOL at the hickey on your (.)(.). Ive had that before from feeding in bed and falling asleep.
Kim sounds like you had a great day. Nothing like showing off your little one. I love it and feel so proud of what DH and I made together. The outfit sounds so cute. Thanks for the reminder that I havent gotten Noah's xmas day outfit yet.
Sammy I had to laugh about the Moooíng. I feel like that most afternoons/evenings. as for the b/f in public I guess it would be harder with having to use nipple shields. I dont have a problem doing it myself but I think thats because I have done it before and have boobs that are kinda big and ummmm:o saggy....lol.

Just wondering if anyone believs in psychic/mediums? Im asking as I bought a reading off ebay and I got the reading today. Im still very much blown away by what she has told me about my family. I gave her no details about us except names and D.O.B's for me, DH and DD. If anyone is interested I would highly recommend this lady. If you want any details about her just pm me.
Sorry I seem to have a major problem with keeping my posts short.

Hiya everyone!

Well, I had a fabulous nights sleep. Alex still woke for his 2am feed, but I had expressed some milk earlier and so DH did that feed for me. It was pure bliss sleeping from 10.30 - 5.30! Now Alex has had his feed, been bathed and dressed and is back to sleep again!:yelclap:DH is also sleeping soundly - I definitely think us girls cope better with the broken sleep than men - he's normally a write off the next day if he can't sleep in at least a little! So I'll be kind and let him sleep a little longer...

Cassie - wouldn't you know it, murphy's law - Logan sleeping soundly while DH is home! :banghead: Ah well, gives you time together and hopefully his content nature will continue even after DH goes back to work! I'll definitely take a pic of the outfit. It will have to be a pic of the clothes only though - it doesn't fit him yet... Can't wait to see it on him though! Will post a link later. BTW - R u moving? Did I miss that? Good luck with the house hunting if you are!

Jess, I loved your 'hickie' story! They're little monsters sometimes aren't they?! At least you got a funny story to tell him when he's older out of it! Some of the things these bubs do when feeding makes me laugh so much - it's so cute!

Mel sorry you couldn't get the pics done - bad day for it by the sounds of things. Hopefully next time will be easier... All the psychics I've ever been to have known a bit about me, and so I feel like they're basing their predictions on that. But I'd love to see a good one. Might take you up on that offer later!

DH and I are off out again today - we have a family day planned - maybe a drive and a stop off for lunch. It's DH's last official day off today. He goes back to work on Monday...oh no! Must make the most of today!

I hope everyone else is having a good morning and had a decent nights sleep.

I think I hear the little man cooing....

hi

1 handed here. Can't believe yesterday - Alex was awake & alert for only 3 hours, he spent the rest of the day feeding or asleep. Then we had a normal nite with feeds ever 2-3 hours. 2day he'salert & happy. So much better than last week - he's on lactose free milk now and he's a lot calmer . al;so stopped the losec meds (i forgot 2 give them a couple of daysand he's fine without.)

hungry now so back later

Oh we're doing the gastro virus thing. Gave Alex his first dose this week.

Poor DD - went to the library yesterday in pants and she had an accident. Both she and I were very calm and good about it but she had to walk back to the car with nothing on her bottom.

been out this morning...took abbie to get moulds of her hands & feet taken by 'twinkletoes'. had coffee with a mate afterwards & thought i'd be brave & b/f at the cafe. well...what a disaster! don't know whether it was all the noise, or whether i was rushing her or something because i was a bit embarrassed, but she wouldn't feed properly, on off on off, we both got covered in milk, she ended up screaming, and i had to take off home with my tail between my legs :o . isn't it amazing how one little person can bring you undone! so we're home now and she's feeding beautifully. no wonder new mums tend to hide away at home!

Aaahh shucks! I was up and down about every 2-2.5 hours last night. I must keep Rylan awake a bit more today.

My last post last night was edited because when I went to post a question I ended up figuring it out myself just as I clicked the 'submit reply'. Oh... it was about why these (.)(.) looked rather deflated and different to Mel's engorged (. )( .) (not literally of cause!) .... I ended up figuring out that I wasn't putting a space in, Daah!

Kim - great to hear you had a fantastic night sleep, having your DH help out with Alex's feeding during the night. I agree with you about us girls coping better with little sleep the next day. If Nathan is up a little late on a Friday night he usually sleeps in the next morning (I have to wake him and drag his but out of bed!) Where as if I am up late and also up and down during the night I still manage to drag my but out of bed early in the morning and get cracking into the new day!

 Kim babies can be little monsters... it's also funny watching them do other things when they're not feeding like when they are doing a poop  Rylan makes me laugh all the time when he's doing one... he'll squash his lips together, concentrating really hard on what he's doing, pulls a frown, then he'll start grunting and moaning.... oh dear it's VERY amusing!!

Mel - What a shame yours boys weren't up to getting a portrait done yesterday. As for your question about psychic/mediums... I'm not really one to believe what they say if it hasn't already happened, but i did have a reading done many years ago when I was in my mid teens and this lady was a well-known psychic. I went in very skeptical, she told me a few things that were quite amazing during the session and she also told me a few things about my future (which I wasn't intending she do) and to my surprise what she said would happen later down the track has actually happened unintentionally IYKWIM. So yeah very strange

Hi all:wave:

Jess I think our 2 boys are in a kind of sync with each other. Noah did the same thing last night. Not good when my day starts around 6am if not earlier. I had to laugh when I read your bit about my ( . ) ( . ).

Gail Thanks! I think he's such a cutie. Sounds like you might have sorted out Alex's problem. its so good when your bub is happy and calm and not screaming the house down and is inconsolable.

Sammy Good on you for being brave and trying to feed in public. Unfortunately some bubbas just cant do it and become to distracted by anything going on around them.

Kim Enjoy your time with your DH. It is so sad when they finally have to go back to work. I remember the last few days before my DH went back to work all I could do was cry. I think it was because I was freaking out as to how I would cope with 2 little ones at home on my own. But I have managed so far.

Well best be going for now and go and do more washing. It just never ends....lol

Gail it sounds like you really have things sorted - well done!

Sammy that is really my worst nightmare! I have so wanted to feed when I've been out, but just know I wont be able to make it happen as I am shy and sometimes Alex can be a tricky one, so I try to keep the environment as controlled as possible! Plus I use a nipple shield so would find it almost impossible! I really commend you for trying - that's one step ahead of me!
Oh the twinkletoes thing is so cute! I love it and definitely want to get it done....hmmm...maybe that can be the xmas pressie for Alex that we couldn't figure out what to get!

Jess so sorry you had an up and down night - they suck! Sounds like it's better you up through the night than your DH - glad mine isn't the only one who can't cope with a lack of sleep! BTW - I love the story of Rylan pooing - VERY accurate - Alex is exactly the same!

Mel thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one who goes into a state of depression when their DH's go back to work! I know I'll cope, but it's sad anyway!

We had a great day again - went for a drive in the hills, and stopped at a bakery for lunch, followed by a long walk past antique shops. Did a bit of light shopping on the way back (got yet more clothes for the little man - he has more clothes than me!), and then home. Just FYI if we're comparing notes - got my AF today, Alex will be 10 weeks tomorrow. I was just starting to wonder about it comeing back or maybe I"d hit menopause as I get 3 or 4 hot flushes a day!!

Two-handed typing!!!

We've had a good day - up at 6:15 for a feed, then I had breakfast and we headed off to an ABA meeting (Pram push along the beach :) ) - didn't get home from that until after 1pm!!

Fed Brylee and put her to bed around 3:30, and she's still asleep now!! I've even done some laundry, and I'm working on our Christmas cards (I'm going to print our own this year with a photo of Brylee on them).

Sam & Kim the b/f in public gets easier - I've fed at KFC, walking around Woolies/shopping centres, in coffee shops, Bunnings, in the park and a few other places I can't think of at the moment. I usually try to pick a fairly quiet area, preferably with a relatively comfy chair - Gloria Jeans/Starbucks, etc usually have some lounge type chairs that seem to do the job. Feeding with nipple shields would be a bit trickier tho - I even have trouble juggling breast pads!!! I mean, what do you do with them? Stick them on the table next to your coffee & muffin

We're doing the immunisation thing next week, so fingers crossed she doesn't complain too much - I've got the baby panadol on hand just in case...

I think I'd better go & wake her up - my ( . )( . ) are starting to feel more like ( . )( . ) *sigh*

Hope everyone has a great night - sleep dust for everyone!!

:hugs: Cass - I know I would be p*****d off too in your position. All I can offer is :hugs:

Well we've got the vomiting sorted but he just slept again most of today, just :fingerscrossed: that we'll get to a routine of any sort soon.

Is anyone else having hot flushes? I get 4 or so a day and didn't realise - just thought it was hot but am finding out it's just me that's hot.

Geeez, I had a major panic attack today! I went to put the car away in the garage because there were some nasty dark clouds in the sky. Hayden went to follow me, so I told him to go inside and stay with Rylan. I quickly ran out and put the car away and ran back inside. When I got inside Rylan was gone out of his bouncer  I started running through the house yelling out for Hayden, then I saw the two of them in our bedroom. Hayden had picked Rylan up blanket and all and carried the 5kg baby into our room and placed him on the bed. I couldn't help but yell at Hayden and send him to his room because I was in total shock! He hasn't ever once tried to pick Rylan up as we had always told him he must be sitting down if he wants to hold his brother and he has to ask mummy or daddy. I don't think he will do it again as he got a fright when I stormed in. I later apologized to Hayden for getting cranky, as I felt bad, I realised he was only trying to help console Rylan while I wasn't in the room.

Sammy - Sorry to hear about your BF dilemma whilst out today. I'm sure it will get easier for you both soon. I guess it's hard when there is unfamiliar distraction around. That's why I like to feed Rylan up before we leave because when I go out it's usually a mission to get it all over and done with quickly at this stage... ya know toddler and a newborn!

Mel – Glad I’m not the only one who has suffered a baby hicki! And yep, I have noticed a few of our babies patterns are very similar. I guess it makes you feel a little better when you log on and see that some of us had experienced a similar night!

Kim – Your day out today sounded fantastic, glad you enjoyed it.

Mia – poor ( .)(. )’s !! Hope you are able to get a better night’s rest tonight :hugs:

Gail – Great to hear your little man is settling down for you. Poor DD, she’ll get there soon.

Deb – Good to hear you had a great day today. I think we might need to label you the ‘Public BF Queen’ It’s so great hearing you getting out and about with your little one – you sound like you are really enjoying the whole experience of motherhood.

Cass – Sorry to hear you and DH have gotten off to a bad start on his return home. Hope you can work through things while he is still home :fingerscrossed:

Cass you poor love....big:hugs: to you. Maybe try and talk it over with Simon. As Riki said you really need him there now to give you a break so you will be able to cope a bit better when he goes back to work.

Gail it might just be your hormones doing strange things now that AF has shown her face again. Hopefully the hot flushes ease up for you soon.

Riki so good to see you here lovey. How's everything going? How is your gorgeous family today? You inspired me the other day with your mexican for dinner and Ive been wanting it ever since so it was burrittos for us tonight....yummmy!

I had a pretty good day. DH took Callan out for a couple hours so it was just me and Noah at home. We even got in a small catnap together. Just enough to recharge my batteries.
I dont know about any other of your babies but I have found that if I give Noah a bath late in the evening he is soo much easier to settle and get down for the night. I have done this the past 3 nights now and I now dont have 3 hours of unsettledness till he goes to bed. Thought I would share that little tip with you.

Sorry Jess I missed your post, must of been posting at the same time.
That is scary about Hayden picking Rylan up and carrying him. Ive caught Callan a couple of times trying to pick up Noah out of his rocker but a few stern words from me and he knows to not do it. I have the problem of Callan always wanting to kiss Noah but he gets quite carried away and does it quite hard on his head. Its hard as I dont want him to resent Noah by not being able to show him affection like the rest of us but he wont listen to us teling him to be gentle etc. Oh well Im sure he will learn eventually.

Morning ladies
Hope you all had a good night last night. We had another night of being up every 2-2.5hours again. I hope that very soon he goes back to the 4 hourly feeds at night, I can handle it so much better.
We are off to my parents place today for lunch.

Cass :hugs: can't believe your DH has made such a major decision without consulting you! Still, it's probably better to talk (or yell!) it out rather than leave it hanging there between you. Hope you guys can sort it out soon.

Gail I haven't had any hot flushes, but can only assume yours would be due to your hormones kicking in again. Now that AF is back you can aim for that :bfp: ! hehehe

Kim yep the nipple shields make it all just that little bit more difficult! Still, thank goodness for them because if I didn't have them, I'd still be expressing & bottlefeeding!

Jess OMG don't blame you for freaking out at Hayden. Poor little bloke would've got a bit of a scare but hopefully he will remember it and not pick Rylan up again.

Mel sorry to hear that Noah kept you up a bit last night. I totally agree with you about the bath in the evenings. That's the cornerstone of my whole routine! Abbie has a bath at about 6pm and you can guarantee that she will be asleep by about 8pm. Even helped her to adjust to daylight saving.

Debbie you truly are an inspiration! Good on you for being such a confident b/f mumma! I will keep trying :) . And I have Abbie booked in for her needles next week too.

Abbie has been really settled for the past few days! She's pretty much been going back to sleep after her feeds, without having a 'play time'. Still only having relatively short sleeps of an hour or so, which means that she's been feeding quite frequently...might be a growth spurt? Who knows. Anyway, last night she slept from 7.30 to 5.30!

After a wakefull period until 11:45pm last night, Rylan settled for the night until his feeds at 3:45am then 6:45am then 9:30am.... all in all a good night as I got to sleep in this morning while DH got up with Hayden

Hi Mel - Do you find if Noah sleeps really well during the day or settles late arvo/ early evening he tends to wake 2- 2.5hr as he misses the cluster feeds? I find that Rylan settles really well with a bath in the late arvo/ evening too  Hope you have a nice day out today despite the rain.

Sammy - how wonderful that Abbie slept for such a long period. You must feel great today :smiliedance:

:o aww shucks, I wouldn't go quite as far as public b/f queen :o

I just decided if I was ever going to get anything done I'd need to either make her "wait" for a feed which means crying, or figure out how to feed her wherever & whenever. Since it breaks my heart to hear her hungry cry the choice was fairly simple!

Mind you I think some people would be amused (or worried!) by the look on my face at times - it's hard to hide the OHMYGODTHATHURTS!!! look when you've got grazed/cracked nipples (yep, I've got 'em again).

Mel, hope you had a good day, and the feeds start stretching out a bit for you - the 2-3 hourly thing is tiring.

Sam 7:30 - 5:30 is great!!! Just hope you get a repeat performance tonight.

Cass, I hope you got things sorted out with hubby - sometimes they do things without thinking...

It's raining here on the gold coast - so much for beautiful one day perfect the next, but we're on level 4 water restrictions so no-one's complaining - we really need the rain.

Oh well, best head off & do some food shopping - Brylee's going to stay with daddy while I shop solo :yelclap:

Sorry if I :o you Deb... didn't mean to mate, BIG compliment to you :) Do you have a hug a bub or similar carrier you use when you are BF? My prob is I need to get some decent BF T's for when I'm out for long periods. The times I have been out I have been back home before Rylan was due for his next feed - he doesn't seem to get the hunger pangs when were out so thats a bonus for me to get everything over and done with and get home.

I also went solo grocery shopping today :yelclap: it's so good going be myself especially without DS1.

Oh.... and it's raining here too Deb

Aww that's okay Jess :)

I've got a hug a bub, but haven't managed to feed her in it, except for one (accidental!) time . She's only 4kg's so I just carry her and sorta waddle if I'm walking. I held a 5 mth old yesterday tho and I can tell you now I'll have to change what I do when she gets heavier  - probably just sit down to feed her - which shouldnt take too long - they're supposed to get faster as they get older!

I've got 4 peppermint maternity b/f tops - not cheap but they're GREAT - don't know what I'd do wthout them.

Bring on the rain!!! We're having pies for lunch (not great foor the figure, but anyway) and I might do a casserole or something for dinner...

Yep Im with you Deb:yes: - I just flip my boobie out anywhere, anytime and Im very modest about too:) I always have a bunny rug or something light and I hook it under my bra strap over the shoulder so it doesnt matter if bubs pulls off mid drink etc - Im never exposed.

But if I had to do it with nipple shields I certainly would be heading for the nursing rooms - that would make it really difficult for sure!!

Hey Jess - Dont you love solo food shopping! Get things done in half the time.

Well I got the best bargain on eBay this morning - a Brand New Electric Breast Pump in its box for $16!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im soooo stoked - its our 10th Wedding Anniversary next week and I want leave bubby with Grandma for just a couple of hours so we can at least go have dinner and it would be nice to have a dress on too because as we all know, breastfeeding with a dress around your neck is NOT a good look:laughing:

Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd drop a quick line to say hello. Looks like everyone is doing well. I havn't been on the bub hub for ages.

My little man is just over 7 weeks and weighs 3.7kg. He was only 2.2kg born.

He has reflux and doesn't like to sleep much either during the day. But at least he sleeps ok over night feeding every 2.5-4 hours. Doesn't give me much time to get jobs done around the house but we are managing.

Cheers

Hi all...hope you are having a nice weekend wherever you are located...

Well, went shopping today with DH...who is so great to shop with...doesn't rush me and is happy to keep jack happy if necessary...

However to give him some time to do his shopping I headed off to the Grocery shop alone...even after he offered to not do his shopping and just look after Jack while I bought groceries..but no, I thought I would be fine..Jack **likes** his carrier...hahahaha

First I had to wake him up from his obviously delightful nap to put him in said carrier...then he proceeded to scream/cry at me all the way through woolies...I had soooo many helpful people tell me he was hungry (which he had just had a mamoth feed at the last shopping centre, in the parents room while DH was again shopping!!)

Then a lovely little old lady asked me what on earth was I doing to that baby, to which I replied "Poking him of course!!"..hey, I had a screaming baby on my chest, don't mess with me grandma!

eventually he fell asleep, which was heaven as he was sooooo tired...and I continued on in peace..again to have a few people and the lady at the register say "oh, he's asleep at last is he!" seems everyone had noticed him...OMG! :barf:

But, we survived and got all foods back to the car and DH came and took us home...Jack was a little angel in the car and after an arvo feed is still asleep 2.5hours later...

Might not be a marter next time and will take DH up on offer to babysit..as was sooo exhausted had to have a nap myself...just to eliminate the headache...

Oh and DH and I started our mission to Concieve again this morning...sorry if TMI...:smiliedance:

take care!

Rik oooh congrats on your 10th anniversary! :) DH & I celebrated our 3rd the other week, but I couldn't bring myself to leave abbie with MIL just yet, so we had a special dinner at home. I might have to give the bunny rug a try next time I try to b/f in public (which might just be when hell freezes over!).

Pippa glad to hear you guys are managing OK

Kangaskippy I hear you on the interfering peoples while out shopping! Abbie was having a good old scream the other day while she was in her pram in woolies....everyone was staring! Made me feel like she was the only baby that had ever screamed while her poor mum was trying to shop! And to make matters worse, I was stuck waiting at the deli, and all these rude people kept pushing in front of me while I was trying to settle her!

Hi Ladies

Well i've been chasing my tail the last few days. Lachlan has been waking after 45 min during the day. Aaliyah has been constant ie at the cupboard or fridge wanting something, I get her something to eat and she doesn't eat it :banghead: . Put her down for a sleep, I can hear her jumping in the cot and laughing then nothing(she's asleep), then she wakes after 45mins I go in and she is totally naked with everything that is normally in her cot on the floor with her clothes and nappie OMG it is sooo frustrating!!! Jess and Mel I can totally relate to the constant cuddling & kissing. I'm so sick of saying "be gental", "leave him alone", "that's enough kisses now" I think she listens like homer simpson blah blah blah. Sorry about the vent.

I'm to scared to go out by myself even to the shop but I really need to get out. I have booked care at my gym now Lachlan is old enough to be left for an hour whilst I do a work out for me. Aaliyah gets to also do a kiddies workout.

Sammy thats a great sleep Abbie had last night I hope she continues it for you.

Cass I hope things are sorted now! Men sometimes don't think

Jess Lachlan does the same as Rylan if he doesn't have his cluster feeding in the afternoon/evening we are also up and down all night long.

Riki are both your girls at school??

Anyway Ladies it has taken ages to post this. You should hear from me more over the next 4 days cause DH will be home:smiliedance:

Have a great nite

Ah, so much to catch up on...toddlers stealing babies and moving them, DH's behaving out of line, BF in public, sore nipples, TTC, AF! I've been a bit busy, the little boy has been kind of unsettled the last couple of days and not sleeping real well, so lots of 3 hourly feeds like clockwork and then some grizzling. I am :banghead: right now because we took about 2 hours to settle him after a feed and a walk to the park, and he finally passed out basically in time for his next feed, so now I'm sitting here waiting and wishing I'd fed him the last time he screamed. Poor bubby.

My in laws left today, so now we're just a little family again. Both families wish we would move back to Qld to be closer to them but we are not sure we want to.

Those BF tops sound good, I am using maternity bras and t shirts during the day and maternity singlet tops at night. I think I have finally worked out that my let down is preceded by a kind of stinging/pressure sensation, I wasn't sure. I am no good at doing it for expressing though.

TMI - we experimented with sex this afternoon and it seemed okay (didn't go the whole conclusion due to no contraception yet)

Hi Pippa:wave: Nice to see you back - so sorry to hear that your bubs has reflux, thats horrible. I hope it clears up soon - I can only imagine how hard it must be to get stuff done!

Kanga - Oh I so sympathize with you about the crying in the shops - people must think babies only cry food and thats it! I laughed so much at what you said to the old lady:laughing: good on you! I might use that myself nextime.

Sammy - Congrats to you on your anniversary too!! Its really hard to leave bubs isnt it? I left Harrison with DH this arvo (DH likes to bath him and give him a little massage) so I could get some food shopping done and I wasnt even gone for an hour and I missed bubs like crazy!! Hope your nipples toughen up soon and you can throw away your sheilds and flop your boobs out anywhere you like!!:D

Gail - Im boarding the plane now ---- put my pancakes in the oven??lol

Lee - Oh my goodness!! Aaliyah sounds like a real character LOL:-) My DD1 is in Pre-Primary and DD2 is in Kindy. I'll be glad when Kindy is finished with though, its only from 8.50-11.30am and doing 2 runs out in the morning is a lot when you have a newborn trying to settle into a routine - its like he just goes down for a nap when I have to get him back up again. Ugh!

Mia - I work on 3hrly feeds too. I work on the feed, play, sleep routine. So he usually only stays up for 50-60min including the feed before he starts fussing and I know he needs to go back to bed - this usually goes like clockwork during the day. Do you put him in his cot to fall asleep by himself or do you rock him, hold him etc? Just wondering as I know how annoying it is when he gets fussy in the evening and his next feed rolls around before he has even slept!!

Deb I went to the Peppermint website, they look alright. They also have a few tops on sale too.

Can anyone else recommend some good BF tops?

Riki  I do love doing ANY kinda shopping by myself. Hey how are your DD's coping with their new little brother? Oh and well done with the breast pump.... WHAT A BARGAIN GIRL!!!

Hi Pippa - nice to hear you are hanging in there.

Kanga I wonder if you will get a BFN or a BFP???? Yeah, you tell em girl "DON'T MESS WITH ME GRANNY!" He, he....

Gail Mmmm pancakes with baked apple and ice cream AND friends cooking for you.... OMG!

Lee Oh... don't we pray things gets better real soon hey??? When I read about your DD going to the fridge or pantry it reminds me so much of what I hear from Hayden *sigh* "Mummy, I'm hungry" "Mummy, I want something to eat"....everyday just about every 20 mins I swear, and the boy gets fed well too. I am lucky Hayden is a little older and he is VERY gentle with Rylan, however he can be loud around him when I am trying to settle Rylan for a sleep, Aaarrrggghh!

Mia Now, now... don't beat your head against the wall darling, I'm sure the little man will wake when he's hungry. Enjoy the piece and quiet while you can. Well done for easing yourself back into "IT" too.

Hey Jess:wave: Congrats on finishing your cluster feed! Exactly what is that? Please excuse my ignorance:o Do you just feed for really really long or is a bunch of little feeds close together?

Oh my girls just LOVE Harrison but I too have to say " ok thats enough kisses now " or "dont lean on him like that" and "no you cant pick him up!" LOL but at least they kiss him and I dont have to worry about them hitting or biting:) I know some friends who's little kids turned into terrors when the baby came along so I guess I should count my blessings.

Im glad Im not the only one with little kids who have stomachs like bottomless pits!! My girls would set up camp in the fridge if I let them Im sure.

Well DH has been dipping strawberries in chocolate for the last half hour for our dessert as all the kiddies are in bed ahhh peace and quiet.

Do you put him in his cot to fall asleep by himself or do you rock him, hold him etc? Just wondering as I know how annoying it is when he gets fussy in the evening and his next feed rolls around before he has even slept!!We were having problems for a while so off I went to a clinic and had some one-on-one mothercraft training! So yes, the feed, play, sleep routine really works for us but I had to kind of learn how it works. At the moment I'm feeding about 20 mins on one side, then 10-15 on the second side, then off to the change table for playtime and nappy change (15-30 mins) then a cuddle and into his bed. He's probably up for an hour and a bit each time.

When he goes into bed he often cries and needs resettling but we were taught to leave him in bed and just soothe him, and even to let him cry a little (it's very hard!) for up to 5 minutes. The nurse was saying that babies have to "deprogram" and let stuff out before going to sleep and that crying is how they do it? So yes, he normally goes in his cot awake.

Had a pretty good night, feeding at 6.30pm, 10.45pm, 3.45am and 7.45am. I'm going to have to squeeze in some 3 hourlies today although I think he is getting enough because he often dribbles milk out after a feed. Is that a good sign? Also he's a happy happy boy who SMILES at us and it is heart wrenchingly LOVIN gorgeous!

Hey Jess:wave: Congrats on finishing your cluster feed! Exactly what is that? Please excuse my ignorance:o Do you just feed for really really long or is a bunch of little feeds close together?

 Riki

Cluster feeding is when babies space feeding closer together at certain times of the day and go longer between feedings at other times. This is very common, and often occurs in the evenings. It's often -but not always- followed by a longer sleep period than usual: baby may be "tanking up" before a long sleep. For example, your baby may nurse every hour (or even constantly) between 6 and 10 PM, then have a longish stretch of sleep at night - baby may even sleep all night.

Cluster feeding often coincides with your baby's fussy time. Baby will nurse a few minutes, pull off, fuss/cry, nurse a few minutes, pull off, fuss/cry... on and on... for hours.

Good afternoon all:wave:
I must say I love the weekends when DH is home. We spent the day at my parents yesterday and had a ymmy BBQ lunch. Noah spent most of yesterday awake. He probably slept in total for 2 hours all day:eek: . He did the big cluster feed thing from about 4pm till he went down at 8:30pm and he slept till 2:30am:smiliedance: then again till 5:30am then up at 7:30am. He let his mummy get some much needed sleep. Cant say my poor ( . ) ( . ) liked it much. They were well and trully ready to burst and the poor little man struggled to latch on at 2:30am....lol.
After not sleeping during the day yesterday he has spent most of today asleep and only waking for a feed.
Mia and Riki I try to use the feed, play sleep routine with Noah. It works most of the time and he mostly self sttles during the day and when he goes to bed at night its just the evenings that we dont have much luck with. I never did that routine with my other 2 and have had heaps of dramas with DS1 so was very adamant that Noah would be able to self settle and have some form of routine. I used to have to hold Callan to go to sleep then he would wake as soon as he was put into bed...not good and made me very stressed.
Kanga I cant believe you are trying again already! Goodluck to you anyway and I hope you get your BFP soon.
Lee the toddlers are so much fun arent they (notice the sarcasm in how that was typed?) DS does the same as Aaliyah in wanting something to eat and trying to help himself to the contents of the fridge or cupboard then wasting it cause he doesnt want it now....aaaahhhhh
Sammy, Gail, Deb, Pippa- how are you all. Hope your weekend is going well.
Just a ? that Mia had me thinking about re contraception. I used the mini pill after having Callan but didnt start taking it till I got my 1st AF. You cant start taking it before that can you? I thought you were safe from falling pregnant till your 1st AF came and even more safe if you are still fully b/f. Hope that made sense to you all:o

Jess, have a look at b/f tops at mother's direct here (http://www.mothersdirect.com.au/category13_1.htm)- they've got a few different ones then you could google the websites for the ones that interest you - some have a built in bra type thing but I didn't fancy that personally.

It was a quick reply to Riki this morning before I flew out the door for the day - unfortuately no time for chit chat :p

Deb - thanks for the link re: b/f tops, I also found another good one Mother & Child - they have some great specials on their site. Also what I am doing at the moment is I have just got a few of those boob tube type tops from Supre and I just wear them under some loose fitting T's  does the trick I guess as some of those b/f tops are quite $$$ even just for a singlet top!

Riki - hope you and DH enjoyed your choc coated strawberries last night ... Mmmm. What's on the agenda for treats tonight when the poppets have gone to bed???? :D

Mel - It is great when DH's are home isn't it. DS1 and DH often spend some time together which gives me a break. Good to hear Noah had a great sleep for you last night too. As for BFP before AF shows up - I have always been told to take necessary precaution just incase, but on the other hand it has been said that you are fairly safe while BF and no AF. So I guess if you don't mind BFP then don't worry about taking the mini pill. The doc gave me a script for it last week.

O.K I'm off to sort something out for dinner

Arvo Chickadees:wave:

Mel and Mia:) I run on exactly the same routine too:-) I did it with both my DD's and they both slept through the night at 6 and 9wks respectively so hears hoping all our bubs will follow suit:-) I really hate those middle of the night feeds!! lol

Mel your lunch sounded scrummy! I just love it when the weather warms up enough for BBQ's. I agree that the evenings can be hard to settle sometimes - when our milk is apparently lower not just in quantity (although I always seems to have huge boobs!!) but also in quality I find some nights Harrison is fussy and then other nights not a peep. Wierd hey?

Gail - You ovulate FIRST??? Oooohhhhh crumbs........... Hope you got in a nice nanna nap this arvo after last night. Good thing he settled back to sleep quick though:-)

Hey I just saw in another thread that Bronny is planning on taking a HPT this week!!!! BJ - come give us the goss here please - we miss you!!

Hey Deb - Hope your having a nice weekend too:-)

Jess Oh the strawberries were gooooooood - we went though the whole punnet and a half rather quickly!! Hmm wots on tonights menu? Now youve got me thinking.......mmmm kinda have my mouth set for a fresh carrot cake with cream cheese frosting...........just have to get off my butt and make it now! lol

Cass - Wherever you are right now - miss you heaps and hope that you and bubba are ok. Come back soon.

:smiliedance: well TTC was pretty fun (even though I was a bit petrified to go there after Jack was born!!) but every thing still seems to work ok!! maybe even better. OMG! but hey, if it wasn't the right time or BF stops it that is cool too..we are just going to see what happens naturally..no pressure, but would be nice to have another one within a year of jack's birth...(not sure if that is sane or insane, but hey, you have to learn the hard way...hahahahaaha!!)

thanks for the support...will be needing it..

Great idea Kanga

Rylan's routine is:
========
Baby's age: 6wks + 3days

Bed time: usually between 8.30pm - 10pm but has been a little later sometimes

Breastfed or bottle-fed: Breast

Time of wake-up/s: Varies depending on when he settles for the night but he will usually have a 4-5 hr sleep then wake 2-3 hrs and has been sleeping until between 9-10am when he will wake for a while.

How does baby wake you (ie. grizzling, scREAming, etc): He starts chewing/sucking on his hands then has a slight grizzle

Minutes per breast: 20 - 40mins, both sides during the day and sometimes only one side at night (shorter feeds).
OR
Millilitres drunk: If he has a top up it's usually 50mls

Duration of feed (ie. including nappy change and settling): 20 - 40 mins

Morning wake-up time: between 7.30am - 10am

How do you feel about night waking: Rylan is great at night just tends to dream feed without needing to be settled. So I'm happy but it would be great to not have to get up at all :D

Morning ladies

I hope your bubbas let you get some decent sleep last night.
Mine wasnt too bad suprisingly after Noah spent most of yesterday asleep. He went down at 8pm then woke at 1:30am, 4:30am, stirred at 6am and got up at 7:15am. All in all a pretty good night. If only I was smart enough to go to bed earlier then what I do. 11pm is a bit silly really but I enjoy the peace and quiet of no kids harrassing me for that bit of time.
Im off to take Callan to the Dr's today if I can get him in. He woke up complaining of a sore ear. He has had a cold for a week now so its probably from that.
BBL ladies. Have a good morning.

Rylan went down at about 10:30pm for the night then I think up for feeds 1:45am, 3:45am, 6:30am and 8:00am and still sleeping.

Mel - INWYM, I should get to be earlier some nights myself but I really enjoy having some 'me time' before I go to bed. Poor Callan, Hayden usually gets an ear or throat infection following a cold. He didn't this time though and has recovered quite quickly, and thankfully no one else caught it in our house :fingerscrossed: all germs have gone now.

The Hub seems to be moving rather slow this morning or it's my computer???

Well I'm off to do some housework etc...etc...

So I am feeling very rested today...he is happily watching ABC Sesame on his bouncy at the moment... seems to love Elmo and Grover!!! thought he was going to bounce himself out with sooo much excitment on Friday...hahahahaha.. so cute,..

Morning all

Busy weekend here on the hub I see! Been flat out over the last coupla days so have had no time to check and see what's happening - missed everyone tho!

Can't beleive we're discussing TTCing already! I'm still trying to forget the pain of the labour so I can get rid of my nightmares! I think DH and I will aim for a good few years in tween at this stage.

Nipple shields... I'd love to get rid of mine, and have tried regularly to offer the breast without it, but Alex refuses and it becomes more stressful than just giving in and using the shield. On the plus side it protects the nipple really well and i have almost no pain.

DH is back to work today and I was so stressed about it yesterday but have found it all ok so far! No hair pulling moments yet! Alex woke for a 1am and 5am feed and back to sleep till 9am - so I was very lucky to get a reasonable night sleep. He had his bath this morning and has had kick time on his playmat and is now sleeping soundly. All in all a decent morning.

We took so photos yesterday while at my nephews birthday bbq - will post a few later. Alex was a little star all day - slept and then woke to give everyone lotsa smiles and then go back to sleep! :D

Hope everyones having a great day.

we are doing alright getting into a sleep pattern, we had trouble getting to sleep during the day and the first sleep at night. Getting better now..

Morning Chickadees:wave:

Had a good night last night - bubs fed at 8.30pm - 2am -5am so a nice 5 1/2 hr stretch of sleep ahhh sleep. Man I miss it!! lol

Mel - Ooh you got a nice 5 1/2 hr stretch too - cool! Its nice to have some 'me' time isnt it? Although these days I find myself having 'me' time by going to bed at any opportunity I can:laughing: I wanted to go back to bed after the girls went off to school/kindy this morning but I restrained myself and made a coffee and went in search of the Hub. lol
Poor Callan :-( - i hope the Doc gives him something to clear up his ear - there is just nothing worse than an earache.

Deb - Could you come do my housework when your done with yours? Im too tired............or lazy - one of the two!!

Kanga - Wow - that was a good night for bubs! Sounds like you got nice and rested, it makes such a difference doesnt it? Oh hey I get the itchy nipple thing too! Sometimes I think its becuase they have been sucking so long its gets irritating? I also notice that the skin is reaaaally stretched due to breast size so maybe some moisturizer would do the trick. Hmmm have to give it a go.

Kim - Oh your sound like you are doing GREAT without DH!! Its hard when they go back to work though I know - makes the workload heavier but still now you can prove to yourself what a wonder woman you are:yes: and how amazingly one can multi-task without help! You'll be cleaning the loo, holding bubby and talking on the phone all in one go! LOL

Eliza - Welcome Back! Long time no hear! Glad to hear that things are settling in for you - it can take a while to find your feet sometimes hey? I have only just got back into taking control of housework etc.....its just so hard to find time! and I find that when bubs is asleep I just want to rest anyway.

Hiya well only one person missed me!

Well I was actually thinking to myself in the shower yesterday (as you do!) 'I wonder how ElizaDee is going...haven't heard from her in a while'! Glad to hear you're getting on ok!

Mel poor Callan, earaches are awful! You have more stamina than me, staying up till 11! I usually fall into bed at about 9 and pushing up z's by 9.30 :o

Rik good to hear you had a good night last night! Did you team up those chocolate strawberries with some nice champers?

Kanga good luck with the TTC! You must have a very understanding hubby...I think mine is checking my pill packet every morning to make sure I keep taking it!

Kim glad you're coping ok without DH at home. I was really not looking forward to mine going back, but it's really not that bad and it actually finally gives you a chance to get your own routine sorted out.

Anyone doing anything interesting tomorrow for melbourne cup? I'm going to a luncheon with a mate who also has a new bubba, couldn't bear the thought of spending cup day at home on my own (I'm a bit of a horse racing tragic!). So of course I'm freaking out about what to wear, seeing as none of my clothes fit properly, and with having to make allowances for wobbly belly, stretchmarks and breastfeeding (and taking Rik's advice about dresses :D ), it's all a bit of a dilemma!

Here's a couple of new pics of Abbie....

My oh my what a chatty morning that has been had by all.
I didnt end up taking Callan to the Dr's as he stopped complaining about it around 9:30am and hasnt said a word about it since.

Eliza we all did miss you honest. It is hard to remember everyone when you have not very long to read and then post before bub wakes or other kids etc need your attention. Oh and the housework needs doing to...lol
Sammy I dont know about the stamina just the sanity saving excercise of doing not alot for an hour or 2 after the kids have gone to bed. I do tend to fall asleep on the lounge some nights.
The pics of Abbie are just gorgeous Sammy. She is a real cutie. Enjoy your Cup luncheon tommorrow you lucky thing.
Gail your avatar is soo cute. Glad you enjoyed your mums and bubs class this morning.
Kanga I too find my boobs get itchy(not my nipples). I think cause they are getting stretched and are warmer then normal and the skin is alot drier then normal.
Riki How are you and Harrison doing today? I think Cass did say tuesday she would be back.
Kim I knew you would manage with DH going back to work. it is daunting but amazing how quick you will get into your own little routine. Have a great day.

Baby's age: 10 weeks today :)
Bed time: between 11pm & 1am
Breastfed or bottle-fed: Breast
Time of wake-up/s: sleeps through to between 6 & 8 am :smiliedance:
How does baby wake you (ie. grizzling, scREAming, etc): Grizzles, and if I don't get there fast enough starts crying
Minutes per breast: first feed of the day (with exploding boobies) around 30 minutes each, the rest of the day approx 10-15 mins per side.
OR
Millilitres drunk: n/a, although she does like expressed breastmilk - she guzzles if she's given the opportunity!
Duration of feed (ie. including nappy change and settling): an hour
Morning wake-up time: 6 - 8am
How do you feel about night waking: sooo glad she's sleeping for 6 or so hours in one go - I feel human! Being up till midnight cluster feeding isn't the most fun in the world tho...

SammyD, Abbie is soooo cute...well done..

Actually it is DH who is really keen to try for another baby...although I love babies too, so I didn't need much convincing...he was worried that I would be upset that I might not be able to go back to work...but this is a pretty tough gig anyway...actually going back to work would be a holiday (even looking after 50 - 100 staff members...ahhahaha although sometimes they could be more demanding than a newborn...):banghead:

Baby's age: 9 weeks
Bed time: between 7 - 8.30 pm (although tending to be closer to 7)
Breastfed or bottle-fed: Breast
Time of wake-up/s: can be anywhere between 2 - 5 am
How does baby wake you (ie. grizzling, scREAming, etc): sucks on her fist, whimpers (her bassinette is right next to my bed so I've never left her long enough for her to start crying
Minutes per breast: about 15 - 20 minutes first breast, maybe 5 - 10 mins second breast although usually only has second breast in the afternoons OR
Millilitres drunk: will drink about 120mls of EBM when given a bottle feed
Duration of feed (ie. including nappy change and settling): about 30mins at night, about an hour during the day (including play time)
Morning wake-up time: about 8am
How do you feel about night waking: really hasn't worried me much at all! Blessed because Abbie has never needed settling at night...always just drops off to sleep after her feed, and has quickly gone from waking twice, to once, to often sleeping right through. Sammy - Abbie is just adorable like I imagined

Kim - Alex is a handsome little fella too... and you are a beautiful mumma ;)

ED - Lovely to hear from you!

There are a few September mummies who have gone MIA lately. Don't be shy drop us a line and let us know how things are going??? I know it can be a little hectic - I am having one of those days today. I have been trying to get a fair bit done around the house - cleaning and cooking a few meals to freeze as well as juggling a baby and amusing a toddler. Rylan hasn't slept a wink since he woke this morning at about 9:30am. I am sitting down rocking him in his bouncer while I type as I have tried to put him down twice today and he just wouldn't settle himself. Oooh, he's  now FINALLY!

I don't have anything planed for 'Cup Day'. I'm actually going out to do a few things around town tomorrow.

Mel - good to hear Callan's ear is o.k. Have you had a good day?

Gail - Alex is a little champ to go from last feed to 7 in the morning!

Riki good luck with the plans tomorrow - I just may take that bet!

Mel you're right - I did manage and I'm still awake! I even got some washing done, had the meal cooked by the time DH got home from work and Alex was being a good boy. He decided tea time would be a good time to grizzle though, so only got through half before 1 handed eating came in to play! Not to mention the fact that it took me over an hour to have my lunch as he wouldn't let me put him down! Other than that a successful day

Hi everyone! Have just managed to sign on very quickly to say hi! Loving all the updated avatars - it's great to see how all the bubs are growing and changing!

Lauren and I seem to be doing quite well with the routine - she's settled into it quite nicely and after her 10pm feed (which I've finally managed to get DH to do!!), is sleeping through til 5am or 6am most mornings, which is great!

I'm still :banghead: trying to get DH to get a bit more involved with her though - he's never here, and when he is he just doesn't want to be disturbed!! I swear I never thought I'd be married and yet a single parent!! Apart from that it would be nice to have a hand with her every now and then, I'd just hate for him to get a year down the track and regret having not spent much time with her now. Makes me miss my friends and family back home really :crying: - not that I don't have some good friends here, but I guess it just reinforces the distance.

Anyway, on a more positive note - Lauren had her six week check at the Paeds today, and all went really well. Apart from a little issue with mobility in her neck (she favours her left side) - for which he's given me some exercises to do with her. She hates them, poor little thing and it makes me feel really mean doing that to her (holding her head down on her right side and pushing her left shoulder back down), but hopefully she'll get used to them and they'll do the trick!

Well, take care everyone - happy Melbourne Cup for tomorrow!

Jen sorry to hear your DH is still making you:banghead: . Men are funny critters arent they. My DH still asks if its ok to pick up Noah if he is grizzling etc. Well dérrr Im busy tending to another child and he is your son to you know...lol. Jen Im only just up the end of the freeway northbound if you get too lonely.:) Wont take much with the physio to sort out Laurens mobility in her neck.

Kim Glad to hear your day went well. It does make it hard to get things done when your on your own (especially getting time to feed yourself)

Jess the similarities between our 2 bubs is starting to spin me out. Noah ahs done the same thing again today with 2 little catnaps and I have only just put him in to bed awake. Hoping he puts himself to sleep very soon as Im tired and ready for bed myself.

Cassie Hope all is ok with you and little Logan. Come back soon we all miss you.

Riki sounds like it was nice and warm for you guys over there today. We have had it cool and windy with quite a bit of much needed rain for the last 2 days.

Well Rylan settled a little earlier for the night last night - probably due only having 20 mins sleep (if that) yesterday. He went down at 9:00pm and stayed asleep for 5 HOURS straight!!! but he woke every 1.5 hours after that  not good. I had an ealier night than normal last night and fingers crossed for a :bfn: for me too (Ooopsi).

Don't worry Jen - your not the only one who feels like a single parent sometimes. I was just saying to the DH last night the women (mums) have the hardess job in the world. We have to carry the baby to term, give birth to a watermelon, get the nutrients sucked out of us, get up and down during the night and spend pretty much 24/7 with the children, while DH go to work, come home, :hugs:  everyone, have dinner, help out with some chores, then the kids are in bed after only a few hours! My DH has more of a hands on role with our 3.5 yr old then he does with the baby of the house. He feels like Rylan is too fagile at the moment to change/ dress and bath.... funny though as if I'm out and Rylan has pooped his nappy he will change it.

Oh dear all these ladies that are risking :bfp: so soon. (* hides head so noone knows Im one of you...lol)

Were off to have Noah's hearing checked again today. Hopefully it is normal today.

Have a good day everyone.

We had a tricky night last night lol, I think all of us are taking it in turns? Ripley had a feed then bath at about 9pm and slept through to 2am, but then fed and didn't settle for quite a long time but I was so trashed that DP handled it. Then he had another feed at 5.30am and 8.30am. Hmm, now that it is morning it doesn't seem so bad after all. And yesterday he settled really well all day, I have to kinda wake him for meals though.

Wow, I am loving all of your pictures, ladies!

Jess your boys are so gorgeous! Little Rylan is just lovely...he looks so bright! I must say that I think Hayden is a dead ringer for your DH though :) . Glad to hear that Abbie is not the only daytime catnapper around here...I'm lucky if she sleeps for longer than 45mins at any time during the day. I know I shouldn't complain when she is so good at night, but sometimes it would be nice to have a bit of time to myself during the day too IYKWIM.

Kim we get the dinner time grizzlies here, too. We have to do the tag-team thing (and why is it that I'm always the one to go second and have the cold dinner  ) although the past two nights Abbie has sat in her bouncy chair and looked at the cat through the window (while the cat throws daggers at her! :D ) while we eat Good to hear that you got through your first solo day ok.

Jen good to hear from you! Sorry DH is still not being as involved as you would like. Have you sat him down and explained exactly how you feel? Sometimes men are as thick as two bricks! Abbie always leans to the right...I thought it was quite normal for them to lean to one side while they were getting head control...but maybe I should bring it up with our GP?

Cass welcome back! Wow Logan really sounds like he has turned the corner! :fingerscrossed: that keeps up for you hon, I always say you can handle anything during the day, as long as you get your sleep at night.

Mel, honey, just remember that when you play with fire, sometimes you get burnt!! Sounds like you had an awesome sleep last night. Good luck with the hearing test today.

Mia sorry to hear you had a difficult one last night - it always seems worse when it's 3am & they're screaming! Hope you have a better night tonight.

Whew, well I think that's everyone! I'm just about to get ready to head off to that cup day function. A bit earlier I felt like calling my friend and cancelling...Abbie was being really difficult to settle and I just felt like hiding! But I'm going to force myself to get out of the house and be sociable. I know I will enjoy myself if I make the effort!

Hope you all have a great day & back a winner!

HI ladies

Melbourne Cup day hey? Wish I was doing something other than housework today!

Jen so sorry your DH is not getting involved. That must be tough. I'd definitely be sitting him down and giving him a what for! I agree - men really are thick sometimes!

Mel good luck getting Noah's hearing checked today. I'm sure he'll be fine. Oh and GL with your bets today - hope you make some money!

Jess those 1.5 hour wakes must be murder! I really hope he has a better sleep for you tonight and is a good boy today. Least you had that 5 hour break in there last night! Hmmm...after seeing the pic fo your DH and the boys I'd definitely say they're looking a lot like they're daddy....but I can still see you in Hayden!

Cassie so good to have you back. It's great to hear Logan has settled for you. I hope it continues!

Mia I agree - we are taking the difficult niights in turns - it seems there's always a couple of us who had a crappy one, and a few who had a decent sleep. I hope to log on one day and see we've all had a fabulous sleep and bubs slept 10 hours straight! :D

Sammy I hope you have a great day out! Well done for dragging yourself there - I'm sure once you're there you'll have a great time!

Hope everyone else is having a great morning - will BBL.

Hi

Just a quickie - loving all the photos.

I had very bad pains last night when in bed and I was thinking "maybe I should go and see the doctor" when I realised they were period pains  . So long since I've had them I"d forgotten what they felt like :D

Cass - glad to hear things are better for you :fingerscrossed: he stays like this

Off now to bathe a smiling little boy whilst DD watches Play School - I love Foxtel IQ - means I can tape it for her whilst we're out like today.

Morning Chics:wave:

I had the best night - bubs went a whole 6hrs between feeds, the longest he has ever gone yet - and I feel like a new woman today:) I cant believe how much lack of sleep affects our bodies hey? You start to feel like that tired draggy feeling is natural.

Dont have anything planned today but some housework - at least now I should have some energy to wash the floors and change the sheets that I should have done yesterday:rolleyes:

Just dropped the kids off at school and pulled into Maccas on the way home for brekkie - and it was a burry nice!

Hope you are all having a nice day!
Cass - great to see you home:hugs:

Im back from Noah's hearing and he passed with flying colours this time.
I took him upstairs to go and see the midwives and had him weighed and measured. The little porker was 3600gms born and at 1month old today he is 4570gms:eek: . he has grown 4cm in length too.
Sammy i hope you enjoy your cup luncheon today. Oh and yes I am playing with fire but geez its fun....lmao:laughing:
Gail what a bummer on the period pain. Im so not looking forward to getting mine back. It wont be for a while yet I 'd say as everytime I think my bleeding has stopped from having Noah it comes back.
Riki yummmy I love Maccas breaky. Im never organised enough to get there in time before breaky is over. Hope your having a good day with your cleaning. Oh and the 6hours in one go is great isnt it. Noah did that last night too.
Kim Thanks for the luck. Heres hoping we win something too. Ah the 10hours in one night would be sooo awesome.
Mia It never does seem so bad in the light of day does it. Hopefully Ripley gives you a better night tonight.
Cassie Welcome back. Logan sounds like he has finally settled down for you which is great. It makes it so much easier on you.

Thats great news Mel about the hearing test and Noahs weight gain too! I had to laugh becuase Harrisons' nickname is Porky Boy:laughing: Its great when they are gaining weight like that isnt it? So re-assuring that your milk is plentiful and good quality.

Wasnt that 6hr sleep divine? But far out Im so engorged today becuase of it today - absolutely busting at the seams. Harrison could hardly latch on this morning and all he does is choke his little head off.

So this morning I was on a roll to get my floors done - took the girls to school, came home put bubs down for his nap, sat down ate brekky and had a coffee. Got all perky and caffenated, jumped up to grab the vac and bubby woke up for his next feed and then after that it was time to do another kindy run:banghead: then come home, make lunches, feed bubs........................

Now its nearly 1pm and Im too  to do anything now.

Told you guys a bet on me would be more profitable than the Melbourne Cup:laughing:

Riki just hearing bout your morning exhausted me!! Love that you had time to get maccas brekkie - I love it!

Mel so glad to hear Noahs hearing is fine. Alex has had a similar weight gain. He was 3500gms at birth and at 4 weeks he was 4500!!!! Porkers indeed! I haven't had his length checked in a while but I tried to but a pair of pants with feet in them on him today and they were too small from 2 weeks ago!

Well, Alex and I had our first shopping experience alone together this afternoon and I must say he made it very easy on me! Slept the whole time and is still sleeping now. Love his work!

Hope everyone elses days are treating them well. Must be off to do some folding....

The little porker was 3600gms born and at 1month old today he is 4570gms:eek: . he has grown 4cm in length too.Glad the hearing checked out this time Mel. Wow, your boy sure is growing FAST. Ripley was 3.82kgs born and is just 4.2kgs now at 5 weeks old. He didn't lose any weight in the first week. I just took him today to get him checked over. He gained 150grams in the last week though so that was excellent, and the nurse said he looked super. He has also got a bigger head and more length, what a good baby.

I celebrated (?) by going to the Maccas drive thru and getting the $5 feed.

Oh man, gotta run and get washing off the line, it's raiiining.

Whew what a day!

We went to an ABA meeting this morning then wandered around a big shopping centre for a few hours - got some CD's for in the car and sa couple of board books.

Had a nappy blowout while feeding in the parents room - not too bad, but a bit icky all the same - good thing I was just about finished anyway.

Riki it's great when they sleep for 6 hours isn't it? Although the first time Brylee did it I was lying there awake after about 3 hrs thinking "she'll wake up soon...won't she?" What a waste of good sleeping time!

Off to do some laundry before I run out of steam... have a great afternoon all.

Afternoon everyone

I've had a busy day out today and Rylan has been an angel - he is just great when we're out (sleeps most of the time!). DS1 will be starting preschool tomorrow :smiliedance: I get a break one day a week now. I'll be able to take a nanna nap when Rylan sleeps or go hit the town with the baby :D

Deb - I've had a few nappy blow outs myself, lucky I've been at home though. Actually Rylan done one yesterday just before DH came home from work and he picked him up and nursed him for a while and then held him up and asked me if he was wet  Ewww!

Mel - so good to hear Noah's hearing test was all good. He is thriving well too - must be a boy thing, seems as though all the boys are porking up rather fast!

Riki - great to hear your little man had a big 6 hour sleep. I was surprised at Rylan's 5 hours last night! Can't wait for the night he sleeps right through.

Sammy - How was your cup day out today? Hope you had a great time, and managed to juggle a glass of champers along with bubby.

Gail - Foxtel IQ sounds great. We just have plain old Foxtel, lol. Don't really watch it that much as all the good programs are on the higher packages.

Cassie - great to hear Logan is settling better now.

Mia - Hope the little dude gives you a decent sleep tonight.

So did anyone make a fortune on the Cup???

Off to have some dinner now....

In other news, I had his weight gain wrong and it was 250grams in the last week, not 150grams. Yay!

It odd but it doesnt seem to matter whether I give Harrison his last feed at 8.30pm or 10.30pm he still wakes at the same time - around 3am- for his next feed. So staying up late night didnt make him sleep later it just made me really tired:rolleyes: lol

BFK - I cant believe Amelia has slept 11hrs!! How wonderful - thats really amazing. Maybe that period like pain is actually you ovulating:eek:

Mia - Sorry you had such a bad night - does bubs sleep next you? The grunting always drives me nuts too:laughing: Ive never been able to have them in the same room as me - they snuffle and snort like a bunch of puppies! Hope you can squeeze in a nice nanna nap this arvo.

Hello again we are finally taking day naps :) I just wish I knew more about babies and thier sleeping habbits, I had been doing it all wrong! Now things are working better and the last two nights he has been asleep by 7:30pm! Much better than 10pm!

I can't believe he is almost 3 months old, he is a little cheeky thing and looks up at you and smiles when he should be going to sleep and you tell him he is cheeky and he kinda giggles.

In the mornings he is all talk, constantly chatting away and smiling, I love mornings just to see that.

We are also getting up at 11pm - 3am - 6am then up for the day. I would love to loose the 3am feed, hopefully one day....

Afternoon everyone

BFK good to hear from you - I was wondering how you and Amelia were going. Sounds like Amelia has mastered her sleep routine.

ED Wow 3 months has gone fast  good to hear things are on track for you too.

Riki Well done for accomplishing getting the floors cleaned - get you DH to give you a nice massage for your sore back while you chill out with something scrummy tonight :chef: I'd be getting Harrison off to be earlier than later too if he sleeps right through to 3am no matter what - that's awesome!

Mia :hugs: to you, hope you got a nana nap in today. Rylan seemed to be chewing his hands off last night in between feeds aswell.

Well, I have had a good day. Dropped Hayden off at preschool and stayed a little while. Then went shopping, came back home and did some housework - vacuumed and washed floors, put a load of washing on and threw it in the dryer - still gloomy weather here. Rylan has been wonderful as usual. Soon I'll be off to pick Hayden up again and look forward to next Wednesday to roll around :D

Just a quick post before I duck out the door....

Rylan is in 00's

The weather here has been a little cooler and previously when it was warm Rylan was just wearing short sleeved all in ones and when it was a little cooler I had been using the bonds cozy cuff suits that you can have open foot/ hand or closed for cooler nights. Anyway I put a jump suit on him last night after I bathed him and it was too short for him so I checked the tag thinking it was a 0000 but it wasn't it was a 000. I thought it was just the type of suite but I've just tried to put him in another bonds 000 wondersuit today and it wont fit  So I got out a bag of 00's and popped a 00 bonds suit on him and it fits him perfectly! I haven't had him weighed and measured recently, I know he is due soon... better check!

Bye for now,
Jess.

Morning all:wave:
Im not feeling as bad this morning as my night with the 2 boys wasnt AS bad. Noah still woke up more then normal and didnt have a big block of sleep but still much better then the night before. I would say it definately is a growth spurt as after him feeding off me pretty much constantly all day and evening I got DH to give him his very first bottle. I had a measly 70ml of EBM in the freezer and got it thawed out and into a bottle and Noah tucked into it like he hadnt been fed all day. I hope he slows down soon as my poor boobs feel empty ( I know they arent though).
Jess your as bad as me staying up long after the kids have gone to bed. Got to love the little bit of "Me" time though. I cant believe Rylan is in 00's already.
Gail The bubs make it hard when it becomes an effort to get them into bed at night/day. I feel guilty sometimes for not having as much time for DS1 but its just how it is at the moment. How cute of alex to smile on command.
Hi Cass wow Logan is getting a big boy. I hope you have some luck with the Hush place.
Eliza good to hear that you have it all worked out and your little man is having day sleeps. Now you can get all the exciting things done like washing and cleaning:laughing: .

Hi Everyone - hope we all had good nights!!

Thanks Mel and Jess.

BJ - let me know how that works as we need to look at contraception and , no offence to the DHs but I think the women better take care of it!! :D Most men seem to think the snip is too much - they could try pregnancy and childbirth

Anyways, last 3 nights Alex has slept thru from when I do finally get him to sleep on me about 10pm until 5, then a grizzle, back to sleep then up and feeding about 6:30. Hopefully the painting is finished so now we just have to see if he'll sleep that well in his cot - he didn't at the weekend, so I"m :fingerscrossed:

Thank goodness for parcel pick up. Alex was going red in the face crying when I was just paying at Coles, and then I had to go to the butchers and dry cleaners and he was quieter but tired, then I got him to the car and the thought of having to deal with him and unload all the shopping (building & painting work going on at home so a bit of a trek to get to the house with all the bags at the mo), etc, so I rang Coles from my car and asked up to what time I can pick it up and it's late night shopping so 9pm. I've got a specialists appt today and DH is going to meet me in the city and take the kids so I'm going to pick up the shopping on my way back from that. Had to set a reminder on my phone tho!!

Hi guys. Went MIA yesterday as I was feeling rather under the weather. I was sure I was coming down with the flu as I was achey, headache, had a temp and just generally felt ****. plus Alex started not feeding very well and my breasts were so engorged and sore it wasn't funny. :gloomy:
Anyways I feel heaps better today and temp has gone down, but now I"m fully stresseed cos Alex refuses to feed off me. He has never been fantastic on the breast, and has always required formula top ups, but at this stage he hasn't fed off me since yesterday at about 6am. :crying: (thank god for expressing). He just screams. I've tried feeding him when he's not really hungry, REALLY hungry, after about 50 mls of formula....all to no avail - he refuses it. Definitely ready to pull my hair out. I called CHN and they have a day service where I can go and get support, but it's not till next Thursday! How can i possibly wait till then! I rang ABA and they just said to persevere...hmm...they don't have a baby who screams till they go red and stop breathing for the first 10 mins of every feed till I put a bottle in his mouth!

I have a sneaking suspision he is just too lazy - as he is fine on the bottle - either with formula or EBM, but it seems he can't get it quick enough on the breast... VEEEERY frustrating. I'll keep trying for a little while, but I guess if it continues I'll have to make that decision of stopping BF altogether.

Anywyas, will BBL to do some personals, off to the shops now - maybe some fresh air will settle my frazzled nerves!

If this is the problem, have you tried expressing until you get a let down and then putting him on the breast? That way he won't have to wait for the milk to start flowing? Just a thought...

All I can say today is thank god for breastfeeding - went for the 2 month immunisations today, she screamed blue murder, I put her on the boob and instant calm/quiet baby :wizard:

Don't worry kim, my little boy was too lazy to breastfeed from day dot. he would attach fine but wouldn't suck. after three days of perserverance and expressing we went to the bottle. it even took quite some time for him to get the hang of the sucking and start to put on weight. he's now a very healthy baby, putting on over 300grams in the last week!

Hi guys. Went MIA yesterday as I was feeling rather under the weather. I was sure I was coming down with the flu as I was achey, headache, had a temp and just generally felt ****

Kim I felt exactly the same yesterday...weird. I think I am just letting myself get rundown. I just haven't been sleeping or eating well & I'm like alot of you guys - gotta have some me time after the kids are in bed so don't get to bed until late & then just kick myself the next morning.

We had another paediatrician appt on Monday & finally got some medication for Chloe's reflux. It had gotten so bad that it had burnt her oesophagus (sp?) & caused it to swell & she was coughing & choking & had started to refuse her feeds as she associated it with pain. The poor little darling. :fingerscrossed: it will start to improve & we can get some more sleep.

She has been waking DS with her screaming after her early morning feed. The other morning I had just crawled into bed at 4am after Chloe's feed exhausted when he started screaming. So I went into him and he kept saying "food...eat" over & over again & pointing in his mouth (so cute). But me being the mean (exhausted) mummy that I am said "no, it's night time, it's time to sleep", layed him back down & walked out. He winged for a little while then went back to sleep like a good little boy. But then at 5:50am I was awoken by DS covered head to toe in hundreds & thousands  with a great big innocent smile on his face - he was so proud that he had gotten into the pantry & found himself something to eat! The H&T were all through the house! We felt like crying but had to laugh (and drag the vacuum cleaner out!).

Cass - glad to hear Logan is doing so much better.:fingerscrossed: he'll start sleeping during the day soon. Great news about his weight gain.

BFK - wow you are sooo lucky Amelia is such a great sleeper, you must be feeling great.

Ooops sorry no time for more personals, I hear the princess call... But just want to say that I love all the new avatars & cute little pics. Will hopefully get my act together soon & post some pics of Chloe. Well, hope you all have a great day.

I'm just so not  today. Alex just won't let me do anything. Everytime he falls asleep on me I put him down and he screams. He's there now but I"m just sitting here in :crying: . Every day he just always wants to be on me and even with a sling it's killing my back and I can't get anything done. I'm sitting here in tears cos I can't get the nappy bag packed. just on here as I need to tell someone. I just can't get him into any routine. He wants to only sleep on me which means DD is missing out on my time. I konw she can do things herself but I want to do things with her. He just won't let me do anything and I'm getting to the end of the tether today. I've had to put him down as I knew I was going to start shouting at him. I know he'll be alright for 10 mins so I'm just leaving him and doing this. I'm just feeling so useless as I can't get any little jobs done (get off the web I hear you say :D ) just on here while I try to make a cuppa and have 5 mins before I go back into the fray again. sorry for :ecomcity: but I'm hoping you will understand. I just need to tell someone. Just rang DH but he can't get home any earlier than he already is. Off to try and calm him again. chat later.

Oooh wow new Xmas Smilies.... COOLl!

I've been out and about today too. I had to take Rylan to a chemist to get his weight and measurements done today as I'd forgotten about his CHN check yesterday - too busy with Hayden starting preschool! Rylan now weighs 6.2 kg  and is 58.2cm long, he is 7 weeks old today. He's really plumping up!! Must have been all those mini crunchie bars I was munching away on while I was pregnant??? Might have to just eat him for pudding on Christmas Day :xmas: Mmmm!

Rylan also slept 5.5 hours straight last night. He went down at 8pm and woke for a feed at 1:30pm then woke 3 hourly for feeds after that :yelclap:

Mel - must be a growth spurt Noah is having atm. Rylan was doing that a week or so ago. He was also feeding constantly until very late evening and then waking for feeds 1.5-2 hourly. They love the bottle too don't they as it comes out fast and steady for them from start to finish - it's no hard yakka for them working their jaws on a bottle like it is with ( .)(. ) Hope you had a nice day out today with your family.

B-J I was wondering what the go was with you and the BFP or BFN. Are you sure you don't want another...really sure??? They're very very cute :D

Gail - great night sleeping Alex is doing lately.

Kim - sorry to hear you were unwell yesterday and sorry to hear about your struggles with Alex taking the breast atm. I know b/f can be extremely hard at times and when things don't work out you start getting stressed and feel terrible. If I can offer you a suggestion.... (If you are really determined to b/f) try waiting a good 3-4 hours after Alex's last f/f (this will ensure he is ready to be nursed again) and then offer him the breast. Sometimes introducing formula earlier on may increase the chance of breastfeeding failure. Alex may be too full from formula to nurse frequently, and this will reduce your milk supply. Your body makes as much milk as your baby demands and Alex will demand less if he is drinking formula. They tend to demand more in the very early weeks of life and leading up to a growth spurt. During this time we tend to feel like we aren't producing enough milk to satisfy their needs but it's just natures way of building up our supply for them. Most authorities estimate it takes about 6-12 weeks to establish a good milk supply and if formula is introduced before 3-4 weeks it may cause you to make less milk. Big hugs for you Kim and I hope it all works out for you both soon.

Deb - Poor little Brylee! I just made an appointment today for Rylan's immunization and I can tell you I'm not looking forward to it at all. I hate taking my children to get their needles done but if I didn't things could be a whole lot worse for them if they were to catch one of these nasties.

Hope everyone else has or is having a good day.

I'm just so not  today. Alex just won't let me do anything. Everytime he falls asleep on me I put him down and he screams. He's there now but I"m just sitting here in. I'm just feeling so useless as I can't get any little jobs done (get off the web I hear you say just on here while I try to make a cuppa and have 5 mins before I go back into the fray again. sorry for :ecomcity: but I'm hoping you will understand. Gail sorry to hear you are having a hard time getting things done today. I know exactly how you feel when you say you want to spend some one on one time with your DD - I feel like I'm not able to do as much with Hayden anymore and it's a big change for me not being able to do as many of those things as I did before - guess that's why he is now attending preschool. I know it can be hard when you are frazzled and lacking in quality sleep but try not to stress about the small jobs around the house, they'll get done eventually (maybe when DH gets home) :D You will probably wake up one day very soon and everything will start falling into place again for you. Oh and btw... that's what we are all here for... to support each other, so don't feel bad about your bad day :hugs:

 Back again! Gail - so sorry you are having such a bad day. Big :hugs: to you. It's so hard when they want to be held all the time & the lack of sleep is just torcher. Everyone is always telling me to just put Chloe in her baby bjorn carrier like it is sooo easy they don't realise how much it hurts your back and shoulders letalone trying to reach around her to do the housework. Sometimes you really do just have to put them down for a little while even if they are screaming just to save your sanity (& back) or before you do or say (scream) something you will later regret. Don't feel bad. Just remember that we are all here for you anytime & it will get better.
Mel - definitely sounds like Noah is going thru a growth spurt, hope his feeding settles down for you soon & you get some sleep.
BJ - it's bad enough when they wet their own bed but yours:eek:. Do you think it has to do with the new baby?
Deb - immunisations??? OMG I totally forgot about the 8wk one. Must ring the doc for an apt. Mind if I borrow your (.)(.) for the day:D.
Cassie - How long did it take for the Losec to start working for Logan?

Oh Kim and Gail, :hugs: to you both. Gail, I can only say that we have all "been there" at one time or another with the impossible to settle baby. The crying won't hurt him and he may just be overtired and need to let it all out. Kim, sorry to hear that Alex is refusing the breast. When I was at the daystay there was another mum there whose bub flat out refused the breast but would drink from a bottle, it's strange but you are not alone.

We have had a pretty good couple of days. Sometimes he is hard to settle but we know what to do for him now, ie, a little bit of crying and frequent comforting. Oh, and the dummy! We just can't seem to stop him waking at 5.30am for a feed no matter how we try to shift the times back a bit, so it's still two times a night for us. 5.30am is a hassle because it's getting light and the dogs get up and our day pretty much has to start then!

Went off to a post natal physio class today and had coffee with the mums afterwards, which was good for me I think. I was too chicken though and took him home in time for bf.

Hi all, sorry to hear that some bub's are not sleeping well or that some mum's are having a not so nice time...**hugs** to all...

Jack had his 2mth Jabs yesterday morning and has been very unsettled since... he was pretty good at the time, cried briefly, but has been very windy (burps and farts all day and night ~ much more than normal) and just a bit grizzly...took me over 2hrs last night to settle him...as he kept waking up and crying everytime I put him down, eventually resorted to some baby panadol and he was sound asleep at last after 15mins...Wish I had thought of it sooner, but as he had no temp, I thought he would be fine...What was I thinking!!

Then today my mum and dad came to visit (they haven't seen him since he was 3 days old, other than photo's) and in the first 5 mins of getting aquainted with Grandma, he threw up on her, peeed on her as well as pooed...OMG!! ahahahah...then proceeded to throw up on Grandad as well, so now they are truely christened..hahahaha:yelclap:

He seems to be more settled this evening as he went straight to sleep first time, so am hoping he goes back to the happier little man I have come to know...

Good night to all, am off to bed for some shut eye!!

Evening everyone.
Mia I shouldnt laugh but I had to when you said you went home in time to bf Ripley. I only laugh as I got a few stares today as Noah decided in the middle of Woolies he wanted feeding 5 minutes ago. I did the old pop him on and throw his sheet over us till he kicked it off so he could look around. I actually got abused with bf DS1 in public and told to go to the toilets and feed him. I yelled at this so called moron that I dont eat in the toilet and Im sure you dont so there is no way in hell my new baby will be eating in there either! Hope Ripley decides tonight is the night to drop the 5:30am feed.
Cassie Glad Logan has settled for you.

GailI know the feeling all to well of being close to shaking them. Its a scary feeling isnt it. I had to just put them in there cot and shut the door and walk away for a few minutes till I calmed down. Big :hugs: to you and come and vent it out anytime you need to as there is bound to be one of us that know how you feel.

Liz Poor little Chloe. Hope the meds work quickly for her. Your DS sounds like he can look after himself if 100's & 1000's were a food group.. I would of been laughing to if it was my DS that did it.

Jess Holy Moley Rylan is a porker...lol. How did Hayden go with pre school? Callan is starting one day a week next year. What a great night Rylan had last night. :fingerscrossed: I get something similar tonight.

Rik where are you? Hope you are all doing well:hugs:

To all the other ladies that read and dont post too often hi to you all and I hope your bubbas are doing well. Pop in some time and let us know how you are all going.

Evening ladies!
Cassie - I know what you mean, Chloe has also been diagnosed as having colic. It is all so confusing sometimes (& I thought the 2nd time around was supposed to be so much easier:rolleyes:). We have also got Chloe on Lactose-free formula now as we think she is also lactose intolerant. Apparently they often all tie in together:( . We started her on omeprazole (the liquid version of Losec) last night & she was much better today - she was drinking & sleeping alot more & was much more settled, unfortunately she seemed to be worse again this evening & it took me 1&1/2 hrs to settle her for bed (including bath) as she was screaming in pain. Hopefully she'll be ok tomorrow as DH has to work late & I'll have DS & Chloe all day & night so it will be a very long day. DH is usually home in time to help with dinner & DS's bath & puts him to bed while I settle Chloe. Oh well, I guess it will be good practice for when DH starts shiftwork - but hopefully Chloe's reflux will be better by then:fingerscrossed:.
Mia - glad to hear you've been having a good last couple of days. Hope DS sleeps in for you tomorrow. My DS always seems to wake when the sun comes up too. It was great in winter as he was sometimes sleeping up to 14hrs but not so great in summer unfortunately:no: .

KS - your post made me . These babies have impecable timing don't they:barf:! Hope your parents weren't too mortified.
Mel - thanks, I hope they work too. Yes, DS would do a great job looking after himself (*starts daydreaming about taking off for a week or 2*). I'm just glad he was in cc that day as I can imagine he would have been so hypo for most of the day:laughing:. Yep cc is a sanity saver - don't know what I'd do without it & DS absolutely loves it. Oh & I can't believe that moron who yelled at you. Breastfeeding is the most natural thing in the world! I really just cannot understand what these people find so offensive???

Back again...

Thanks so much everyone for your hugs and words of wisdom. Alex still isn't feeding off me but he's getting my bilk from expressing, and I'm just releived that he's still drinking, as I went to the dr and it turns out he has a virus. I decided to take him after he started with really bad diorreah (sp?) this morning, and was vomitting a fair bit. Dr reckons when they're sick they want their milk quicker and so they tend to want the bottle more. Makes me feel better... but then I panic at the thought that by the time he's better (hopefully soon), he'll be too used to the bottle as his only source of milk and not want the breast at all :( Dr is happy that he's still drinking at all, so I guess I should be releived and let him go with whatever he wants... Hope he gets better soon. He's soldiered on tho- barely a grizzle out of him and he's slept almost all day!

To those mums who bottle feed exclusively, how much formula are you giving your bubs? A few people have said Alex is having too much. When he does BF, he feeds for about 30 mins, then has approx 70mls formula top up. Last coupla days with the no breast situation, he's been having about 140 mls formula. I assume that means he gets about 70 mls from the breast when he has it... but a couple of people now have said that's a lot for a 5 week old. My dr said give him what he wants as he wont overeat (not without vomitting!).... who to believe??!

Gail I'm so sorry you're having such a rough time at the moment. Never apologise for venting on here - I do it all the time! It is part of the reason I keep my sanity!!! Big :hugs:. Hope it gets better.

Jess, I hear you on the porker bub - today Alex weighed 4.7kgs - he has put on almost 200 grams in 5 days! On the plus side, I haven't measured his length but his legs are too long for the 0000 wondersuits, so I know he's grown in length, and he seems perfectly in proportion. Thats the main thing I guess!

Ok - have to cut this short - being called!

Hope everyone else is well. Thinking of you all.

Hurry up and get into bed Jess :shame: Rylan went down for his big sleep at 8:30pm. After I post this I'm turning this darn thing off. I have been wheeling and dealing on ebay this evening and won myself and Rylan a Baba Sling (Black in colour :D ) and only worn a couple of times. I never had a sling for Hayden as a baby as I didn't feel I needed it but I'm finding now one could come in handy for when I take Hayden to preschool, getting Rylan in/ out of car all the time - much easier than getting a big pram out!

Lizzy - Good to hear from you! You went MIA for a while. Sorry to hear about little Chloe - poor buba, hope she gets better soon.

Cass, Mel & Kim - Ahha... Rylan is porkin up BIG time! Hayden was a very big weight gainer as a baby too and is a big boy now for his age - very solid and tall. So I guess I will just assume now that my babies will be big babies. I love the look of chubba bubba's but the only bad thing about it is they kill your back and arms when you have to carry them around

Mia - I had a laugh at you scooting off home to b/f Ripley on time too. Don't worry your not the only one who gets the urge!

Kanga - what a show Jack put on for the family! I'll be pulling the baby panadol out ready for Rylan after his needles too.

Kim - Awww poor bubba Alex. I hope he gets better real soon! There's nothing worse than having a sick baby.... so helpless! Kim he also may be drinking a bit more as he heads up to the 6 week mark (growth spurt). Take care hun!!

o.k. I gotta go to bed, sorry if I have missed anyone after Kim... I've taken too long with this post, lol :o

EM2B - How awful that Alex is sick. It really pulls on your heartstrings to see them like that doesn't it? As for bottlefeeds, Chloe was having about that much formula before she started having probs feeding & she weighed 4.7kg too. It's not too much at all:no: - perfectly normal for his size & age. People will have an opinion on everything. You will know if he is eating too much & he probably needs as much as he can get to get over this virus so don't worry about it. Hope he gets better soon.
Cassie - sorry but I just had to laugh when I read your post - you sound just like me. You poor thing I know exactly how you feel, just when you think it is all getting better it seems to get worse again! I have given up on trying to settle Chloe to sleep in her cot, I just pick her up & give her lots of hugs as I know she is suffering & we all like hugs when we're sick or upset. I just can't bare to hear her scream. Will teach her to self-settle once she is better (the reflux & colic are gone) but I know you went thru so much to teach Logan how to sleep & it feels like a big step backwards. Hang in there. Luckily some babies don't start teething until they are almost 1 & hopefully Logan will be one of them:fingerscrossed: .

Haha, well he was about due for a feed and just starting to grizzle and it was my first time with these ladies and I am not yet sure of my bf confidence/competence, so it's easier to drive the 5 mins home and do it in the official bf sofa!

Well last night was the first one-feed-only night - we fed at 10.30pm and 3.30am and 7.30am! On the down side, he took ages to settle (several cries and comforts) at 4-4.30am, oh well...he has gone off to sleep nicely this morning.

Hope you all have a good day and settled babies. Some grocery shopping is on the agenda for us I think.

We had another good sleep last night. Rylan was down by 8:30pm and woke for feeds at 1:00am, 4:00am and 7:30am. One of my ( .)(. )’s were almost busting at the seams early this morning as he only fed on one side when he woke at 1:00am. I am starting to feel a little more engorged again only after 2.5 hrs, so I assuming Rylan’s growth spurt and regular feeding habits last week have boosted up my supply.

Sorry to hear some of you had a not so good night.

Cass – Hope Logan sleeps well for you after he has his needles. A dose of panadol and he should be settle for a nice sleep.

how was chloe? did she sleep better after having the losec?

Last night is all a little bit of a blur actually. Think she had a feed at 6:15pm, finally went to sleep at 8pm, woke @ 12am for a feed then after 2 nappy changes (don't they just love to poo as soon as you've changed them ) slept from 12:45am until 5am. So not too bad I guess, but just would not settle after her 5am feed & screamed for about an hour. Both kids are now asleep again so I know I should be resting too but...:ecomcity:.

Hi everyone,
I haven't posted before or joined in any forums so I thought it was about time, especially after reading some familiar stories from other mums. My (pause to change nappy) littlest member of the family Gulliver was born by C-Section (which I dreaded) on the 8th of September just two days before his due date. It turned out to be a wonderful experience thanks to great staff at the Wesley. Life an d day and night have all been a bit of a blur since then. Hubby is sleeping in the loungroom, which although means more sleep for all is affecting our, lets say, closeness.
(pause to swap boobies).
My latest chalenge has been getting his two month injections on Monday. He was just grizzley an sleepy most of the day but by the evening he had a fever and at 10pm we took him up to the Mater. Turns out he had a bacterial infection, my poor baby had to have a canular put in his tiny little hand :crying: to get blood and then to top his day off (after three needles in the moning) he gets this huge needle in his bum full of antbiotics! needless to say he and I have both been a little grumpy since then. (pause to rest my one typing hand)
Anyway that me at the moment, I'll probably be back when I have two hands free, mmm lets say 2010? :) Maybe by then I will feel like less of a zombie?

liz - i know what you mean about waiting for a fresh nappy to poo, harry does it all the time.

harry is doing really well. we have a pretty good routine except that he gets grizzly in the evening if he hasn't had much sleep during the day but i prefer for him to be unsettled at 7 pm than at 2 am.

does anyone have some advice for travelling with young babies? we're going away (600km) to see family, harry will be 6 weeks. so if anyone has had experience with long trips with babies i would appreciate knowing what i can expect or some advice.

Hi everyone! just a quick post to answer this

does anyone have some advice for travelling with young babies? we're going away (600km) to see family, harry will be 6 weeks. so if anyone has had experience with long trips with babies i would appreciate knowing what i can expect or some advice.

we drove to Melbourne - Adelaide last week and i asked my MCHN for tips. All she recommended was to keep myself well hydrated and give baby a few extra feeds. Thats all well and good, but i'd add that its a good idea to leave earlier than usual and/or be prepared to stop more often (BF in a car is hard!! But then BF in a truck stop is pretty bizarre... lucky i have a scary DP to glare at naughty truckies). We broke our trip up with a stop over night in Horsham (about 300kms from melb). At first Donovan fell asleep and slept for an hour then wanted a feed and wouldn't get back to sleep - i think he got bored and lonely in the back seat so from there on i sat back there with him and he slept like a charm for the rest of the way. Its pretty hard to know how babies will react to these things so i guess just be prepared for any eventuality. It wasn't bad at all and we'll be doing it again no problems. Bon voyage :)

Hi again,

mrsgreen663 - Thanks for the welcome, Lani loves having a baby brother, but it really upsets her when he cries which is cute :)

Baby Clancy - I travelled a lot with my first, we even went backpacking and cruising around the whitsundays! Pilgrims advice on stopping regularly is spot on, thinking of the trip as part of the holiday helps to make it more relaxing. As for feeding at the truck stop my tip is to stick a towel or cloth nappy in the top of the window and wind it up. Also if your okay with sticky tape on the ceiling of your car stick lots of dangling things on it to entertain. Most of all relax and go with the flow (MUCH easier said than done though  )

Evening everyone.
I actually got abused with bf DS1 in public and told to go to the toilets and feed him. I yelled at this so called moron that I dont eat in the toilet and Im sure you dont so there is no way in hell my new baby will be eating in there either!

Mel
Hi everyone

Hi Mel Can't beleive some ****head actually actually abused you for bfing!!! Sad but true, my MIL actually suggest I go bf in the toilet at her place so needless to say I'm very reluctant to go there anymore!

James, the fat little ****, weighs 5.25 kg now:eek:
and he's just 5weeks old. He must take alot of milk because he gain weight but he wets and poos very frequently and up-chucks everywhere, all over everything, all the time.....

Welcome Belinda

Looks like most babies love the car trip and we love to take James out but we have a ute so with only leaf springs for rear suspention I worry he'll rattle around to much. Do babies get shaken baby syndrome from the car????

One question to everyone...
Does everyone here breast feeding always offer the second breast at every feed???
Only by the time he's had one breast, napped a bit , sicked up all over the place, nappy change, more sick, taken the second breast and sicked up more it's been almost an hour and he'll soon still want his next feed....:( I'm just a big bloody feeding beast!!!!

Why must we have two breasts?!?!? Think with one there'd be no stuffing about alternating breasts and there'd be half as many sore nipples!!! And if that one breast could be a bit lower down then baby could just lay in the lap and feed away and our hands would be free to type and what not.

Cass, hope your little guy is just going through a phase. Looking forward to the next one :D and they always say "enjoy them when they're this young".....

Riki, where are you? Thanks for saying you'd be my doula! we'll set up a video conference in the birth suite shall we!!... I hope you're okay and haven't overdosed on mud cake!

By for now, I might be back soon

thanks for the advice girls. harry loves going in the car so i don't think he should be too much trouble. it's a bonus that he has his bottles three hourly so we should only need to stop for one feed, hopefully.

i'm not sure how he'll go sleeping in unfamiliar surroundings though. going to give him a few nights trial run in his porta-cot instead of his bassinet before we go so he can get used to it. we're going away for a week and a half so i hope he is well behaved.

lee - isn't great to get back to the gym. i started back last week and it's made me feel more like my old self again. it's nice to stretch and relax and have some me time. although each time i've gone to the gym harry has played up for DP. i think he's getting a bit attached to his mummy. does anyone else find that their baby is getting a bit too attached to them? it breaks DP's heart when harry just wants his mummy and i feel so sorry for him. i don't want harry to get really attached to me but it's really hard to avoid it. i never realised it would be so hard to avoid your baby getting really attached to you.

I promised I'd go and paid alreaedy so I can't really miss it, but I'm dreading leaving Alex - I haven't left his side ever! I'm sure DH will be fine and he's looking forward to some alone time with him, but it doesn't make it any easier  My Ebm is all ready to go, so I have no more excuses :o

Welcome to Belinda - I hate watching tiny bubbas have needles too.... Alex was on a drip for his first 3 days and was having 6 hourly heel pr*ck tests on top of that and I cried non-stop. I cried more than Alex did!

Must be off, I need to get ready to go. BBL to try and do some personals when I have 2 hands free!

Hi lovelies,
just wanted to say Hi and that I finally had Sophia via emergency c-section. She is beautiful and doing well but it has taken me a while to adapt to mummyhood (I think it is hard when you are so sore) but I am feeling more myself now and enjoying it more .
It is lovely to see all your avatars what beautiful babies!
Take care of yourselves,

Georgia

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Chloe is screaming yet again! She is obviously starving but cannot eat more than 60ml as she is in so much pain. I feel bad for her but, Cassie, if it was raining here I would stick her out in the rain too! I don't think the Losec is working! Although I did read somewhere on another thread that it can take at least 5 days to start working:banghead: don't know how we're gonna survive for that long. I am almost in tears again:crying: I hope she's not going to be one of the few that this medication doesn't work for:(.
Haven't had a chance to catch up on all the posts for today yet, just had to get this all out, but I hope the rest of you are having a good day.

Hmmm...maybe we have to wait for her poor little throat to heel. I swear I would like to kick the 1st 2 doctors we went to see about it that said she'll just grow out of it & wouldn't give her any medication:mad:, it mightn't have gotten this bad if we'd started treating it sooner:banghead:. Oh well, not much we can do about it now, at least we persisted & got a third opinion.
She is actually asleep over my shoulde now the little :devil6: but I'm still so worried about her not eating enough - she has only had about maybe 120mls since 12:30pm (almost 7hrs:eek:). Maybe I'll give it a couple of more days & if it hasn't gotton better I'll take her back to the paed - it's 100km away! There are no good doctors around here.
Yes Cassie, I have msn.
Gonna go try & put her down now but bet she'll start screaming again when I do.

Oh boy... lots of chitta chatta here tonight lol.

Just popping into say I think Rylan has gotten himself into a routine. The past three nights he has settled for the night by 8:30pm. So fingers crossed he keeps it up! Now all I'm waiting for is for him to stretch his sleeps out a little longer and then finally sleep through :D

Georgia  and congrats on your bubby FINALLY!! You were keeping the Due in September thread hanging by a thread so to speak, lol. Good to hear you are bouncing back and getting the hang of things. Will we be hearing more from you in here or will you be nestling in with the October mummies?

Mel sorry I haven't replied to you Q. earlier, it has been in the back of my head most of the day, lol. Hayden did enjoy preschool last Wednesday, now he keeps asking me if he is going to preschool 'today' (everyday) He's great, I have no separation problems with him. He use to go one day a week to cc in the toddler room before I had Rylan but I pulled him out a month before I was due. Is Callan looking forward to going next year? How has your day been - you have been a bit quiet?

Jess - it's great when they finally get into a routine, isn't it? Got my :fingerscrossed: for you that it continues.
Belinda - Welcome to the Sept thread. CONGRATULATIONS on the arrival of your little bubba:yelclap:. Sorry you didn't get the birth you'd hoped for but glad the c/s was such a +ve experience for you. Great hospital staff make such a difference:yes:.
Georgia - Congrats on your little baby too. Hope to see you around here more.
Mel - where are you tonight? Have you decided to go to bed with the kids & get some sleep? Has Noah's feeding settled down for you?
Cassie - I sent you some noodles in my e-mail, did you get it?

Hi girls
Liz and Cassie big hugs to you both. I dont know how you do it with bubs that have reflux and cry heaps. I should really go to bed Liz but you know its the time of night that I get 5 mins to myself.
Noah's feeding settled for a day then again this evening I just couldnt keep up with him. I expressed a bottle (70ml) this morning and got DH to give it to him and he chugged it down quick smart. I know he is getting plenty as his nappies are always soaked.
I just feel a bit low tonight as the thought of not being able to b/f him if I cant keep up is depressing and sad. Sorry for the :ecomcity: it probably doesnt make much sense. Being woken every 2 hrs at night is exhausting.
Jess Callan is looking forward to starting preschool. He will be going 1 day a week and be in the toddler room. My sis takes him with her 1 morning a week when she drops my niece off so he gets to know the place and the staff.
Georgia big congratulations on your little girl. She really took her time didnt she...lol
Shan How are you going? Good to see you back with us.
LeeGlad to see you back too. Hope your all doing well.
Kim Hope Alex sleeps for you tonight after being such a good boy being out today.

Big :hugs: to you too Mel, sorry you're feeling down. I know how you feel with the breastfeeding thingy i went thru the same thing when I was breastfeeding Chloe thru her 3wk growth spurt - I was literally:banghead: b/c my milk couldn't seem to keep up with her & I was so exhausted from the lack of sleep (don't worry that's not why I gave it up). But then my milk supply increased & I was spurting everywhere again. I'm sure yours will too, don't give up.:hugs:

Mel sorry to hear you've been feeling a little :gloomy: Rylan and I have only just pulled through what you are now going though. It is so draining isn't it! I would be up until 11pm some nights and he had been constantly feeding on off from about 7pm. Then he would go down for 3 hours then up every 1.5-2 hours! You will get a break soon then you'll end up with way too much milk in your ( .)(. )'s Like me atm - I thought my ( .)(. )'s had adjusted but now seems they need to be milked only after 2.5hrs :o I had resorted to giving Rylan a bottle a few times in the very late evening - helps me cope and seems to settle him well.

Sleep while you can.... Hmmm, think I better take that tip and get to bed myself :shame:

:fingerscrossed: for a good night all!

Hey Everyone!

Sorry, it's taken me so long to read through all the posts since the last time I was on that I've only got a couple of mins before Lauren is due for her next feed!

Thank you sooo much to everyone for all your kind words and support over my problem with DH. It still isn't any better - infact he's out at the soccer tonight, so has been home one night this week and has projects for TAFE to work on this weekend, so I don't imagine we'll see him much then either! You are all right though - I do have to sort it out, so intend to sit down tomorrow and have it out. My Dad arrives for a flying visit from the UK tomorrow, so I def need to sort it out before he arrives, as I can feel all this resentment building towards DH...

Mel - thanks for the offer of a meet up. It would be great to meet up anyway, especially as we're not too far from eachother. I can so relate to what you say about keeping up with the b/f during the growth spurts :hugs: . Lauren is going through one at the moment and I am finding all the feeding exhausting! (not to mention the sore boobies!!).

Kim - how are you going with your b/f? I don't know if this helps - but Lauren often pulls off and screams at the beginning of a feed and apparently it's because I have really fast flow and the poor little thing just can't swallow quick enough. Her face goes really red, she fights my boob and then lets go and screams the house down! The nurse at mothers group yesterday recommended that I try posture feeding which apparently helps to slow down your flow (you kind of recline to feed). Big hugs - hope you managed to get some help anyways. :hugs:

Good to read that so many of your bubs are now sleeping through the night and gaining so much weight! Lauren is averaging 300g a week at the moment and is looking like a right little chubba bubba!

We've had a really rough couple of days due to this growth spurt thing, she's been feeding heaps and hardly sleeping - but I did manage to get out to Max Brenner's today with a friend of mind for Chocolate Fondue and a White Mocha - Yummo!!!! I felt so much better after that!! AND, even better - I got a chocolate souffle to take-away, which i had for pudding with some coffee gelato - OMG I was in heaven!!!

Love and hugs to all - hope you all get a good night's sleep!

Morning girls.
Thanks for your hugs and understanding. Well after all that whinging Noah decided to get back into a more normal routine last night. He went down at around 9pm and didnt wake for his next feed 3:15am :smiliedance: . Iwas one happy mumma I must say. after that he woke at 6:30am when we got up. He has been so much happier this morning till he went back down again for another sleep at 7:30am.
He is becoming more mobile I discovered this morning to. When we get up I put him on his playmat and let him have a kick with no nappy, I went and did last nights dishes and came back after a few minutes and found he had moved a 1/4 circle so he was sideways on his mat:eek: . I cant believe how quickly he is growing. He is 5 weeks old today!
Jen big :hugs: to you. I hope you get to talk to your DH today before your dad arrives. As for meeting up pm when you are up to it and we can arrange something.
Liz I hope it wasnt too much longer after you posted last night that Chloe woke up for her feed and you got to go to bed for some well earned sleep.
Jess Good to hear Rylan has gotten himself into a routine for you. We gave Noah a bottle of EBM last night which seemed to fill him up and obviously did the trick. As you and a couple of other mummies on here know they say to get some rest in in the arvo to help boost your milk supply for the demanding evening but it is pretty much impossible to do with another little one to run around after.

Well Im of to the shops this morning (yes again...lol) Im going to get the ingredients to make the lactation boosting cookies.:chef:
BBL to see how you all are.

WOW what beautiful Bubbas we have. Thanks for sharing photo's.

Liz and Cassie :fingerscrossed: that the meds start working for your Bubbas.

Jen goodluck with your talk today. I hope it goes well!!

Mel we are also having a feeding frenzy and I know how you feel, must be yet another growth spurt:rolleyes: . Just a quick question when you express do you express before or after a feed and how much?? I was told to express 10mls after a feed from the boobie you feed from.

Jess you lucky Mummy. I can never get Lachlan to settle for the night until the earliest 10pm. 8.30pm is great, well done and lets hope he keeps up the good work. I miss the nights together with my DH.

Kim how are you hun? A while back you said you brought some really cute clothes for Alex. When Alex has grown out of them you could sell them on eBay and get some money back for them. I've just started to sell stuff on eBay. Especially stuff thats only been worn a couple of times.

Riki where are you??? I hope things are smooth sailing and Harrison is being a good little Bubba!!

Welcome back Georgia and a big congratulations on your baby girl Sophia (love the name).

Shan the gym is a life saver heheh! Lachlan does the same as Harry. I look at it this way it's 1 hour less we have to deal with the crying  and when we get home he sleeps like an angel!!!

Nats I only offer one (.) unless it is empty which it hasn't been yet! I want Lachlan to get more of the hind milk.

Lara where have you gone again? MIA once again. I hope Spencer is being a good little Bubba for you and the routine seems to be working!!

Mia, Pilgram, Sammy, BJ and BFK I hope you ladies are doing really well and getting lots of sleep.

Sorry this post is soo long but I had a lot of catching up to do!!! I hope you all have a great weekend Ladies!!

Love Lee

Hi Lee,
When I express I usually do it after I have fed Noah then get what I can out of the one i just fed him from. If I am really full from the other one as well I will express from that one too. Mind you I only have gotten 70mls in one go and dont want to do anymore incase he wasnts more himself soon IYKWIM...lol
Ive been thinking of going to the gym too just a couple of days a week but its hard with the hours my DH works and I dont think the one near me has a creche. Oh well I will work something out.
Hope you have a great day Lee.

Just a quick update. Well after the shocking evening we had last night where Chloe basically screamed from about 5:30pm-8:00pm & refused to feed properly (taking only 60ml for dinner), she then slept until midnight when she sculled her whole bottle & went straight back to sleep:smiliedance: But then she screamed, coughed & spluttered her way thru her 4am feed & took forever to settle again. Thank God DH had offered to do that feed:D And then the she had another good feed this morning at 7:45am when she woke. Isn't it amazing how they can be such:devil6: one minute & the next.
DH has taken Ben down to the beach so it's a girl's day today & we're heading off shopping too Mel. Just running out the door now. Hope you all have a great day & thanks for all the hugs & kind words.

Morning all,

Just a quicky before I do the dash out the door for the day.

Rylan slept a 6 hour block last night then 2.5 hrs x2 :smiliedance: So it seems I'm seeing a regular sleep eat pattern happening now. Hope he starts sleeping through at 9 weeks like Hayden did fingers crossed

Mel - I never get in a nana nap during the day anymore. In the first 2 weeks I was able to have a few rests while DH was home. Hope the lactation cookies work for you. I've heard they're pretty scrummy too!

Liz - have a nice day out shopping with Chloe today :)

Jen - Hope you are able to work things out with your DH before your dad comes to visit :fingerscrossed:

O.k. best be off now. Have a good day all ;)

mornin ladies

mel, i know what you mean about the moving around. harry was playing on his mat yesterday while i had my back turned he managed to turn 90 degrees as well. i was just as astonished.

tryin to type one handed at the moment as harry isn't happy, he has the hiccups again. does anyone elses bubba get the hiccups a lot? harry gets them at least once a day.

Teto
11-11-2006, 10:26
Yep, hiccups are pretty common, and often just when it is time for him to go to bed.

We had a pretty good night. A feed and bath at about 9pm, then feeds at 2am and 5.30am.

I am having these bad dreams, pretty much every night, where I dream Ripley is in bed with me or on top of me and I have fallen asleep and forgotten he is there. Sometimes I even panic and wake DP and ask him to check! And then I have these other dreams where I am feeding him in bed, and then I gradually wake up and realize he is in his own cot grizzling for a feed and I am yet to feed him! Ugh, it's exhausting.

His waking time is gradually getting longer and more aware. We can put him in his cot awake for short periods where he will amuse himself. Oh and he is making crawling efforts when he does tummy time. That's exciting!

Hope you all have a good day!

Belinda - welcome to our thread!

MummyG - Congratulations!!

Liz - :hugs: I konw what it's like. Hope it kicks in soon.

Jen - hope you get it sorted out. Hugs to you (run out of smilies)

Everyone else gets :hugs: too as I"m sure we all need them sometime today .

Looks like the day will be grizzly for me. DH and I are disagreeing over what meds to give DS. He's been fine all week - just crying from tiredness and yesterday I gave him the Losec (as recommended by the dr that we should carry on with it after I had stopped it) and he was windy all day and it looks to be the same today :gloomy: poor bubba. I feel that the losec is making it worse. DH also wants me to give him infant gaviscon but I don't like giving 2 different medicines at exactly the same time so I"m saving that for the next bottle. Oh well, hope it's not too bad today. Chat later everyone

mia - harry usually only props himself up on his hands during tummy time when he gets cranky, otherwise the he'll lay there very content. so i have to wait for him to get sick of being on his tummy before he'll do some exercise, although on wednesday at his 4 week checkup when placed on his tummy he pushed himself up straight away the cheeky little devil!

Last night Brylee slept from 12:30 to 8:15am :smiliedance: Pity I had to get up twice to express so my ( . )( . ) came back down to ( . )( . ) and didn't explode :o

I ended up giving her 2 doses of pandol after the immunisations (about 6 hours apart) but she seems fine today - back to her usual happy self after a day of grizzling.

Off to do some shopping so have a great day everyone, and :hugs: to those still trying to sort out reflux, colic, sick kids and lack of sleep.

Evening all :)

We had a lovely relaxing day out today in the sunshine. Just another quickie before I settle the kiddies and sit down with DH to watch a dvd - it's been a while so I guess it's a bit of a luxury to do at the moment. Thought we'd make the most of it while Rylan is settling early for the night now.

Shan - Rylan hiccups quite frequently and he did in the womb as well. I find when he hiccups he often gets cranky and I just pop him on the breast for a drink and they :wizard: disappear!

Mia - I often wake at times during the night wondering if I had put Rylan back in his bassinet, because there have been a few times that I have fallen asleep and woken with him  This has usually been during a later morning feed (4am or so). Don't like to make it a habit though

Lovely pics btw! It's so great to put a face to the mummies I chat to in here too.

Deb - Wow Brylee is a wonderful sleeper - that's great!

BFK - sorry to hear Amelia is unwell, poor bub's - it's not fair on the little ones!

ED - don't worry yourself to much on Spencer's sleep routine atm. The hours he is sleeping are perfectly normal and every baby is different! There is also no right or wrong sleep pattern they should be having. As long as they are feeding regularly through the day (most importantly), then they may tank up in the evening and sleep a longer stretch or they may not for a little while yet. He will get there eventually.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone.

We had a pretty good day today. DH & DS got home just as I was leaving so I left Chloe with them :smiliedance: & headed out with a friend to the shops. Wow, haven't done that in soooo long so I decided to make the most of it & a quick trip to the shops ended up being 4hrs. We even sat down for a lovely cuppa & muffins & I actually got to finish it while it was still hot & without having to get up 10 times IYKWIM. Then this afternoon we had a BBQ & DH cooked up some yummy fish & garlic prawns - YUM YUM!!!

Chloe had another screaming session this afternoon/evening. She had really bad wind too Gail. She's always had problem with it but today it seemed even worse. Do you think it could be the Losec? Is that one of the common side effects?

Shan - Chloe gets hicups all the time too (doesn't she get everything:rolleyes:) & yep it's usually just as I've put her down to sleep & then she's wide awake again.

Love the pics Mia & BFK. They are so beautiful. BFK wish I had the time & patience, not to mension talent, do do a scrapbook for Chloe & Ben. Will be so great for Amelia to have when she's older. And SS to hear she's not feeling well. Hope she gets better soon. The lack of sleep is a killer isn't it?

Cassie - Chloe was on Karicare HA AR which is thickened formula for sensitive tummies that is also thickened for reflux. But then we thought she may also be lactose intolerant, as both DH & DS are, so we changed her to Karicare De-Lact & have been adding thickener. But it doesn't seem to be doing anything for her so we might just change her back as the other one was much easier to prepare and cheaper.

We've finally organised Ben & Chloe's Christenings. We're going to have them done together on Dec 17th. It will also co-incide with Ben's 2nd B'day party. As we've got friends & family travelling from interstate we thought we'd celebrate everything all at once. Anyone else having their babies christened?

Sorry to those I have missed but my eyes are so heavy & I can barely keep them open. Didn't get to bed until after midnight last night so I'm going to have a very early one tonight. Goodnight All. Hope you all have a great Saturday night - don't go partying too hard:laughing:!
