Hi everyone

Thought it would be interesting/fun to see what all the mums out there craved or are craving whilst pregnant :p

I will start the ball rolling:

DS - Lemon Juice
DD1 - Nachos, smoked salmon
DD2 - Greek Salad (had to be greek)

Does anyone know the science behind why pregnant women crave certain things

Mine was BBQ chop fat. It had to be BBQed and had to be that vein of fat you get on lamb chops. Dh BBQed many a chop when I was pregnant with Harry.

Easterlily,
I agree it does sound gross but when you have those cravings nothing else matters. :D

Eeeew Karena!!

I craved ice. I'd eat a whole packet (like 50!) of those skinny tube icypoles in about 3 days. :p Even after I had Eloise, the craving was still there! The nursing station at the hospital had one of those crushed ice machines and I'd sit up in bed eating crushed ice with a spoon like icecream!!

I couldn't stand the smell or taste of any other meat besides chicken. My cravings were for ice cold watermelon and ice coffee, I don't even like or drink coffee.

Hi GUys,

I have cravings(nothing too major though)for nachos and raspberry and cola slurpies. This book that I have read..Natural way to better babies (Franchesca Nash) refers to cravings as us lacking a certain nutrient/vitamin depending on the food that you are craving...and that instead of eating the food that you crave, I should be checking what the food contains and referring it back to the book to see what vitamin/nutrient I am lacking....I think that this could be somewhat true...however feel that the odd binge is not going to hurt me too much!

When I was pregnant I craved ice really badly. Like I said on the post about morning sickness, I would eat trays and trays of ice! If they didn't freeze quick enough I would eat them half frozen, which I liked just as much! My family and friends thought I was really strange. All they could hear when they visited was me crunching!

I also craved bacon, banana and cheese toasted sandwiches! Sounds strange but they are really nice!

When I was pregnant with Lachlan I craved any junk food - esp when feeling sick - like as if I had a hangover and needed greasy food!

The big killer was fried onion flavoured 2 min noodles - and not all supermarkets stock this flavour so it was hard to get and when I saw it I'd buy heaps of packets!! Also this place near my work sold really thick toast with crunchy peanut butter mmmmm greasy.
