When do you out your bub back to sleep inthe morning - 6am wake up...DS is 8 months old and I'm wondering if I should put him back to bed a little earlier at this time of day ( after bottle) or jsut wait for the tired signs and then pop him to bed??

This sleep routine thingy is not easy! Just when you think you've got it down pat - they change - get older - need less, need more aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh - I think I need sleep :D

Hi lucyp! It's hard to know what to do sometimes, isn't it? I basically have a baby-led routine, figuring that if she's tired, she'll want to sleep and show me the signs. I guess everything will work itself out of it's own accord, and I am through worrying about any sort of a strict routine for her in this first year - it just isn't going to work for my little one. Why force her into something that will only make her and me miserable?
For example, this morning, she woke at 5.20am, had a milk feed, then wanted to go back to bed after breakfast at 7am, whereas most days she will wait until "about" 9am for a morning nap. I just went with the flow this morning, and put my head down too - which equalled an hour's nap for me too! Yippee!!
Basically, you can't force a baby to sleep, so maybe if you give him the bottle when he wakes, keeping the curtains closed, and everything as quiet as it was during the night, just see if he naturally wants to go back to sleep. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.
Somedays I would give anything for her to wait until 6am to wake up...... :)

We have given up on routines! Whenever we seem to have one it lasts about 1 week then he decides he wants to change, so I'll wait until he's a bit older... I put him to sleep when he starts to show tired signs, as Nickster said, if they aren't tired you will have alot of trouble and un needed stress trying to put them to bed!! It's fustrating isn't it!!!
