I just want to let those families who have a posting to HMAS Newcastle know that I'm thinking of you all at the moment. Those who dont know, Newcastle came home last Tuesday and is now on stand-by to leave again either tomorrow or in the next few days :( The sailors on this ship haven't even been home for a week yet, and are already about to be 'shipped off' somewhere else.
Hugs to all those affected by this crash posting :hugs:
Its also just hit home that in a week my hubby goes away for a 6wk sail; but his ship will be on call if Korea flares up... Gosh I hope he is home for Christmas this year :(

I have a couple of friends on Newcastle, and know a couple of very sad wives. Thanking god right now that DH won't be posting back on there when he re-enters in a couple of weeks. Am with you thinking of them all, Pink Lady. Hope your Dh is home for Christmas for you, congats and good luck with Little Pod.
Best wishes to all the people aboard Newcastle and their families.
Ally, I bet if feels like Grant has only just got home - fingers crossed he is home in 6 weeks for you & Pod!
DF is away for Christmas, I'm looking at it as one more thing he has to make up for when he gets back! lol... more presents!!!

Grant isn't on Newcastle - thank God! But he is on Ballarat and they will be first port of call while on their 6wk training exercise. They also have a lot of newbies on the ship - so hopefully that would sway them from sending the ship into any full on hazard zones.
mummyof5 - I didnt know your hubby is in the navy - which ship is he based on?
Sharvs - I forgot that your hubby will be away for Christmas... :hugs: Will you go i'state and stay with your family?
Yeah, i probably will. I'm yet to arrange it all, I just cant seem to get excited about Christmas this year, which is sad considering its DS's first Christmas (well, second but he was only a 12 days old last Christmas).

I can certainly understand what your saying there... I imagine it'll be quite a care package that you send your DF for Christmas... :hugs:
Yeah, I will have to send it within the next couple of weeks to make sure he gets it in time! Damn the 2kg limit though - I will have to send 20 boxes!

LOL - Gotta love it! Hey - at least then he gets to open more boxes so it'll 'seem' like you've sent even MORE stuff! LOL

Hi Pink lady,
No, hubby isn't in the navy at the moment!! Discharged in April, but can't hack civilian life, LOL, so getting back in within the next couple of weeks, if Defence ever pull their fingers out and get the paperwork signed off:banghead:
He will be posting on to Melbourne, all things going to plan.:fingerscrossed:
Sharvs,
Hope you enjoy your Christmas anyway. Totally s*cks when they are gone for Christmas, doesn't it? Hope he brings you home lots of gold jewellery:yes: to make it up to you. Those stuffed toys you get from the Bear factory (and there are versions in Dubai, not sure where your hubby gets his leave), make great pressies for the kids, as he can record a message in his own voice for your little man. My DH did this during his gulf deployment last year, and it was nice for me to listen to his voice too!:o
Take care girls.

MummyOf5 - Gosh - I bet you were thrilled with his decision to go back to defence (sarcasm lol). I've heard good things about Melbourne - so here's to an easy simple transition!

Heartfelts thoughts for all of these families, and Sharvs, I had my DP away overseas three consecutive Christmases and he missed our DDs first three birthdays so I know how hard it must be for you at this time with Christmas.
It would be nice just for one Christmas to have no defence personell overseas so they could ALL be home enjoying their family and friends. Sadly with the state the world is in it is looking highly unlikely.

Yeah - yesterday morning when I dropped hubby off at Garden Island, there is Newcastle - still sitting alongside at Fleet base East
At least if they are going to put them on stand by they should DO something about it! Though I saw in the news this morning that there are 2 ships on standby to evacuate Aussies out of Fiji. Maybe they're on standby for THAT as well?

Oh gosh - I didn't realise they left today. Thank you for the update. My girlfriends fiance is on Kanimbla and they have been given notice to prepare for Fiji... So much is happening in the world right now :(
