whilst pregnant with my daughter i had really bad morning sickness, so i decided to try an old remidy. Ginger. Fresh ginger every night worked wonders. i had never felt better in my whole life. :p
I also found ginger to be great for morning sickness. I used to drink ginger tea and ate a couple of ginger biscuits with a cup of tea in bed.
I was lucky to have a wonderful partner who brought me this each and every morning before work! :)

Hi everyone
Ginger is really good. I used to drink brewed ginger beer which was great for temporary relief. However, I found ice the best thing for me. Things like kool Pops, icy poles and slurpees from 7 to 11 :o
Easterlily :)
Interesting that you mention ice. All through my pregnancy I ate literally trays and trays of ice! This wasn't for morning sickness, just a really bad craving.
Everyone thought I was a complete and utter weirdo but I couldn't get enough of it! I couldn't re-fill the trays fast enough and used to eat them when they were only half frozen. It has probably done all sorts of damage to my teeth because now when I eat ice-cream my tooth hurts for ages afterwards.

Hi Cait
What a funny craving :D But I only used the ice when I was sick and chucking. It was about the only thing I could keep down so at least I didn't get dehydrated. I just found it helped the nausea. However, I can't look at slurpees anymore, they remind me too much of chucking :D
I think I might start a thread about cravings, it would be interesting to see what everyone has or is craving

Unfortunately, I'm one of the unlucky ones who gets morning sickness for the whole nine months - any time of day or night. Waking up in the middle of the night to throw up is the worst. Tea and bikkies in bed in the morning before I get up is not on the cards because I'm already sick when I open my eyes. I stopped throwing up 2 days after I gave birth to Cassie (who's just turned 12 months old). With luck, in 6 weeks time, I'll be pregnant again through IVF again- but I'm not looking forward to actually being pregnant and feeling sick. It's like having an 24 hr hangover for 9 months straight. This time around, I'm going to demand vitamin B12 shots and maxalon tabs. The only good thing about being sick is that I don't put on too much weight from the pregnancy so I don't have to stress about having to lose a lot afterwards. Does anyone else get like this when they're pregnant?

A girlfriend of mine craved ice all the time while she was pregnant and didnt give birth to a snowman (lol). I am sick of feeling sick. I have felt so ill recently that I have lost weight! how are you meant to eat for a healthy bubba if everything turns your stomach. The smell of saos made me gag the other morning. What i really find disgusting is the smell of the seafood department in a lot of the groacery stores wafting through the aisles when Im grocery shopping. Ugh! the mere thought of it is making me gag. I bet they would think i was quite rude if I threw up all over their floor! :D I feel starving and nauseated at the same time. Will definatly try the ice..... :)

I found that drinking powerade or gatorade cured my morning sickness. I was throwing up 5 times a day at least, and in a bad way and totally miserable. I was dehydrated, my salts etc were all out of wack and I was unable to keep anything down.
Found that if I had some gastrolyte (get from chemist) that it worked the best when I was REALLY bad, but if I kept drinking powerade constantly (went through about 2 litres a day) it kept it under control. It rehydrated me and replaced all the salts and sugars in my system I was losing with the constant chucking.
Hope this helps someone! I'm now 34 weeks pregnant and haven't thrown up since about 16 weeks!!!!

HI there, i was wondering if those preggie pops worked. I am 9 weeks pregnant and have been EXTREMELY sick for the last 3 weeks. I havent actually been throwing up but have just felt so sick i cant move, i cant eat anything because then i feel sicker. Its awful! I have tried ginger, but i just dry heave at the smell of it and the taste is awfull. I went to the health food shop the other day and got black mores morning sickness tablets but they dont work for me either. Im hoping it only lasts for 12 weeks!!!

Hi all,
It is interesting to read about all the experiences of morning sickness. This being my first pregnancy I had no idea what to expect, and have found it graduated from nausea to vomiting.
I am an aromatherapist and so am intersted in anything natural to help. I would like to suggest Sweet Orange essential oil as although ginger is excellent, it's only good if you are managing to keep things down!
My problem is that sometimes I can't even keep water down, so having ANYTHING in first thing in the morning is sometimes NOT a good idea. And sitting on a crowded peak hour train willing myself to not have to use my 'emergency plastic bag' is not a nice way to start the day.
So I keep in my bag at all times a bottle of Sweet Orange essential oil. When feeling particularly unwell I sniff from the bottle for a minute or so and it really helps to calm the nausea down. It doesn't really help if you are feeling that bad that you are vomiting, but is enough to calm down the belly and allow me to make it to work without embarrasing myself on the train!
I hope this tip helps any other fellow sufferers :D

Hi all,
I suffer from the sort-of morning sickness - however, it never eventuates to vomiting. I just feel really heavy and ick in the stomach all day - everyday. I kind of hope that one day I do throw up - at least I would then have a reason to say that I have real morning sickness.
I hope you all feel better at some stage.

I had morning sickness from week 6 of my pregnancy up until the day that I had my children, I was in hospital 1 week out of every 3 to be rehydrated by drip. My doctor tried everything possible to stop me from being sick but nothing worked. Hopefully you all find something that helps you!
As for cravings (as some of you were talking about) I get cravings for everyone in my family when they are pregnant, I can usually tell them before they even go to the doctor, it drives my hubby insane especially since I come from a big family (I have over 30 neices/nephews & 2 on the way). Does anybody else have cravings like these?

I feel so sorry for your girls who had morning sickness through your whole pregnancy! I hope that i dont. Im around 13 weeks and it seems to get better then worse then better again. Im hoping it will stop soon. This is my first pregnancy and i i always thought i would have my kids close together but to go through all this again so soon - i just dont know. although you had morning sickness for the whole 9 months and your going back again so it does give me some hope....i suppose that once you get the end result you realise it was all worth it.
take care

Hi Girls,
Wow, I must have been very lucky. My morining sickness only lasted for a few weeks, but was all day long. I found dry ginger ale/beer very good, but the best cure was Fruit Tingles. I use to go through about 4 packs a day  It was reccommended by my mum's friend.....something to do with the bicarb soda in them?

Ice cravings can sometimes be a sign of iron deficiency, and because pregnant women need more iron, this might be why many women get these cravings.
Another thing that can be good for morning sickness is acupuncture.

I'm 10 weeks pregant, and have just come out of hospital after being on the drip for 3 days. I was also given maxalon (didn't do anything), but the zophran did (a stronger anti-vomiting drug), and was able to eat for the first time in 4 weeks. Back home now, and trying to keep the electrolites up with gaterade, which to my surprise is working to some extent. I find calming music helps, and a very long hot bath.
Was also wondering if anyone gets this horrible saliva thing hapenning - I can't go out in public as my mouth fills up with saliva every minute or so. It's so disgusting? Any ideas?
Thanks for all the ideas - we all just get through these things in the end - the result is worth it!

I'm very sorry to hear about your morning sickness :( had morning sickness for 6 months of my pregnancy, I had it so bad i couldn’t even keep down water. Whatever went down would come up within 30 minutes or less. I was so miserable :( . I was in the US at the time and they prescribed PROMETHAZINE together with a vitamin B complex tablet. It’s an antihistamine; it helped a whole lot but made me sleepy. I also found that fresh cut lemons help a whole lot, just the smell or even eating them.

I'm 7 weeks pregnant with No.3. With the first 2 I had 24 hours morning sickness for the first 5 months (as soon as it stopped the heartburn took over!)
Now I have it again, worse than ever. But yesterday I found a temporary cure from a Juice Bar. It was a lemon drink they made with lemon and orange juice and lemon sorbet. It was so tart and not at all sweet and I felt great for the whole hour I was drinking it. It's too expensive to buy one every day, but I'm going to try and replicate it at home.
I am going to try and bottle this nausea and remind myself when I'm thinking of having No.4, to get a grip and don't do this to myself again!

So far I'm finding Travacalm ginger tablets to be very helpful but I need to take them as directed and not forget. The only food I can eat are icey poles, mandarines and 2 minute noodles. And lots and lots of water. I also take a b6 tablet morning and night, wear the accupressure bands on my wrists and take a daily walk. I'm going to try the fruit tingles but I'm a bit off anything to sugary lately.
The only thing that makes me feel absolutely horible is having to change my 1 year olds dirty nappies! I had next to no morning sickness with my first but this time I've been sicker and a lot more tired (maybe its a girl ;)
I wish there was a magic cure but keep trying until you find some relief. I also found repeating to myself that I amnot sick or ill I'm just pregnant sounds crazy I knowbut it helps to remind myself that its all for a good cause!

hi, I had bad morning sickness for the first 14 weeks of my pregnancy. I lost 3 kgs in that period. I found drinking chocolate milk helped when I couldn't eat. :D
What do you think of people who said they are blessed because they never have morning sickness with their pregnancy? :confused:A bit inconsiderate to me, it kind of implies that I'm not blessed? I'm blessed just to be pregnant and had a healthy baby at the end!
hope you'll enjoy your pregnancy! It's a wonderful experience!:smiliedance:

Hi, I just read that alot of you are finding ice helps and/or having cravings for trays of ice. This is often a sign of Iron Deficiency called PICA (google it) - where you crave ice or strange things like dirt - very common in pregnancy, but can make you more lethargic if your are. So make sure you are getting enough iron. I am also suffering all day nausea, just started travel calm ginger tablets. hope they work! Have heard anything with B6 helps (in bananas) and tissue salts from health food stores called kali Mur.

This morning I found my best friend LOL Spearmint Tic Tacs !!! Ginger doesnt agree with me at all and the thought of chewy stuff like minties makes me queasy too. These tic tacs are fab!
My cousins MS cure was Fruit Tingles lollies, dont think Im game enough to try those LOL.

Fruit tingles are good!! Didn't stop me from :barf:, but the fizziness took the yukky feeling away for half a second, lol. Ginger is disgusting coming back up again!! But ginger beer worked for me a bit with DD, so did apple juice.
Nothing but Zofran worked with DS!! That and eating what i felt like eating, poor DH went to the shops often for me!! I didn't want to eat often, and when i did it had to be something that would come back up easy (NOT rice!) and that I thought i could stomach. I was in hospital for rehydration (yet again) 2 days before i had DS, not nice. I am :fingerscrossed: that it won't happen again with the next!

Dooooooont go there! They make you froth at the mouth when they exit:laughing:.
My only cure, like Charlis_mum was Zofran.
Ginger- the very thought of it made my tummy churn even more and when I did venture to take it once it made me puke even more.
The Zofran though, was like heaven- it allowed me to function when I had 3 other kids to look after.

I too suffer from the dreaded m/s...with DS until 16w and am 15w with no2 right now. With DS cheese sticks, chicken risotto (weird I know) and in the end about 30 something weeks banana paddle pops.
This time around though I can't bare the thought of any food, I just eat whatever easiest crackers, unfortunately hot chips work and fruit salad.
In saying that generally I am so nauseas I just don't eat...I have not lost weight but I have been hypothyroid for most of the pregnancy I have put on 2kgs which is not bad considering...
I read a few of you suggested fruit tingles so I went and got some, man when I have one in my mouth I feel good but when its gone I am sick again. Tic Tacs sometimes work for me and decaffeinated green tea.
Well hopefully we all get over the m/s soon and move onto safer more enjoyable pastures :)

this sounds exactly like my morning sickness for my first baby madison (2). nothing worked for me i couldnt do the tea a bikkies before getting out of bed because i would wake up to throw up. i would suddenly throw up while sitting at the dinner table half way through a meal. i am not 7 weeks pregnant again and my morning sickness started about 2 weeks ago. i am already at my wits end, last time i could just lie around all day and now i have a 2 year old to look after and i'm having so much trouble.
i was unaware you could get anything to stop the vomitting (b12 shots/maxalon tabs) my doctor and midwife just continued to tell me that envetually it would stop, no one seemed to care. i only put on 8 kilos in my last pregnancy which was alright i guess but i would way prefer to put on more and not throw up so mcuh. its good to hear im not alone as well
thanks for ur blog i will be asking my doctor about these B12 shots and maxalon tabs and see what he says

Hi all, I am new to this site and to being pregnant. So far it sucks!!! LOL :(
Thanks for the tip about preggie pops, might give them a go.
Everybody recommends ginger something. I hate ginger! :( In desperation I am now sipping on a ginger beer (I couldn't find ginger ale - is there a difference?)....and a friend just told me about Blackmore's Morning Sickness tablets - so I have now picked them up. So far I have only taken 1 and I am feeling a bit better already (wonder if it's psychological?).
Oh, my name is Jodie and my hubby Tom and I are 6 weeks pregnant. :) This is our first. We are both 32 (well Tom will be in a few weeks) and otherwise have two dogs who think they are human children. We haven't broken this pregnancy news to the dogs yet LOL :)

I had the ice craving too, with just about all my kids, and even now 14wks after the birth of my youngest bub I am still chomping away like crazy, I asked my midwife about the ice craving and she said it was due to a lack of iron, back to the morning sickness, I always used soda water in my pregnancies worked wonders, everywhere I went I had my trusty bottle of soda water with me.

Right i'm off to the shops! I desperate. Just started a new job and am 9 weeks pregnant and have had the roughest time so far. Bowel inflammation, eczema covering waist up although i've never had it before in my life and morning sickness all day every day. My 1st pregnancy was a breeze compared to this :( But hey i'm just happy i'll hopefuly have a beautiful bub at the end of this!
