Didnt know where to put this (and i'm a mod :o ) but I think it fits here.

Today is the last day for a wonderful Community Nurse & Lactation Consultant at Wyong Hospital. I wont divulge her full name but Di was an inspiration to me. She was there when MJ was born, she taught me how to attach MJ, she even spent a whole day with me in hospital teaching me how to bf. She told DH to go out & get a set of nipple shields which were a life saver & helped me persevere. When I was exhausted from having to feed MJ every 3 hours due to Jaundice she told me to put her into bed with me in the hospital, much to the disgust of the other MW's

When the baby blues hit bad, she held me while i cried (which i'm doing typing this). She is so great! She visited me at home after I left the hospital & again, helped with feeding issues & showed me how to feed lying down. She normalised co-sleeping, promoted extended bf, told me about baby wearing etc. I've been to see & thank her a few times in the last 17months & she's always welcomed me with open arms & praised me for the wonderful job i'm doing with MJ.

I found out that Di is moving to Mackay to work in a birth centre up there. She will be very sorely missed by many i'm sure. Anyone who will be birthing up there, look her up. I would describe her as a hippy :o She's so peaceful, funny, caring, everything you want when bringing a baby into the world.

I'm so lucky to have met her, she makes me so confident in my parenting choices. She is so supportive of my still feeding MJ, & told me that MJ is too young to even think about stopping bf & co-sleeping. Such a wonderful thing to hear, as I normally get told to stop doing both.

I told her about this wonderful place (she did know of it ofcourse) & will hopefully join one day. We swapped addresses, phone numbers, emails etc & will keep in touch.

Mackay, you are about to get the most wonderful midwife & lc you could ever imagine.

I hope they find some as wonderful to replace, though I am sure she will always have special place in your lives :hugs:

Oh I wish all hospitals had M/W like Di!! It's such a shame when they leave....

Well as sad as you are to see her go, I am in Mackay and sounds as though she will be a welcome change to the present MW's we have here!!

Do you know anymore about where she will be?

Omg! This brang tears to my eyes.
I really can empathise!
She helped me deliver Chloe-anna, we had a beautiful waterbirth.:) She was outstanding! She kept me on the ball so well!
You described her exactly how I would.
Adam, my Mum, and I were both amazed at her continual kindness and wonderful care. Such a loving woman!
When she came to visit me at home, she really helped me out with breastfeeding too when i had a lot of trouble from getting help from the other middies. Mary-anne was a saviour too!
I was impressed by the both of them! :D
It's quite sad knowing she's moving I had no idea!
So sweet of you to devote this thread to her.
I will miss her and i barely know her, I'm just so glad she was the one who was present during Chloe-Anna's birth. She is truly everything you'd want when bringing a baby into the world!

If you ever do contact her be sure to let her know there are quite a few Women in our area who will miss her loving care when future births arrise. I wish her the best of luck!
