Hi ladies
I'm new to this site and hope you don't mind me dropping in, hopefully to give you some encouragement. This is my story in short.

I am 41 :( and have been married 19 years. Have 2 kids through IVF aged 2.7 years and 6 months.

I was 25 when we found out we needed IVF due to endo and poor sperm motility. We couldn't afford it. Back in those days there was the 3 cycle limit and IVF was only available in the city - we lived 7 hours drive away.

So saved our money and tried when I was 28. First attempt cancelled, 2nd attempt zero fertilisation and got told my eggs where poor quality, unlikey to ever have children on my own by a dragon nurse - head of IVF clinic. Changed clinics at the age of 35.

Had 7 attempts all reached fertilisation and transfer. Had a m/c attempt 5 and got PG with DS on transfer 7 aged 37. Best cylce ever, even had 5 to freeze (which we added to the 2 in freezer). When DS was 18 months we decided to try a FET so went back to second clinic and I got told to loose 10 kgs before even trying...this was a new doctor as old doctor has left. Doctor was so rude he said he hoped santa was going to bring me an exercise bike for xmas  So changed clinics again and moved frozen embies

I had a completely natural FET - just so happened I ovulated while on holidays in the city - and my DD was conceived 2 days before my 40th birthday. Still have 3 embryo's in storage.

So what would dragon nurse know :D Every needle and every tear was so much worth it just to see the smiles on my kids faces today.

Please don't give up hope. I wish you all luck and success.

The dragon lady was (and still is I think) in a SA clinic. Btw we rang her just before doing the cycle I conceived DS on and she said at my age and after 8 attempts (2 at her clinic) that perhaps we should give up
