Hi there,
my DD is 12 months old and in the past has slept quite well. After having a bout of Gastro for 9 days, during which time DH moved into the spare room and DD moved into our bed DD is refusing to go into her cot. We decided that DD should sleep in our bed during the vomiting stage as we were worried she might choke on her vomit in bed. I have tried to move her into her cot but she cries hysterically, stands up in the cot and screams to the point of gasping. I have tried sitting in the room next to her, patting her back to re-settle her and just leaving her cry with no success. The other factor to consider now is that she has developed yet another cold with a very bad cough. So, the question is do I try CC now or do I continue to let her sleep in our bed thus making the problem worse?
DD seems to be constantly sick these days as she has just started at creche and is picking up every bug under the sun.

Hmmmm tricky one.
Could you maybe make a temporary bed next to her cot ?
I'm not really pro CC but I did use it as a last resort when my DD wouldn't settle in her cot with me there but if I left her for 10 mins on her own she would go to sleep.
How did she used to go to sleep? Did you used to put her into bed and let her fall asleep on her own?
I guess it's up to you if you want to share you bed but if you want her to sleep in the cot again I would be trying to get her back in there now before she gets too used to sleeping with you.
Maybe try CC in short burst only letting her cry for 5 mins and then coming in to reassure her.
I think a gradual change might work best.
Does she sleep in your bed during the day?

hi lucinda, CC's not so good when babies are sick so it might be better to wait until she's better. you could try putting her on a mattress beside your bed for a while so she has the security of knowing where you are but isn't getting too used to being in your bed. when she's ready, you could try CC again with her in her cot.

LOL , I was reading your post and nodding my head.
Yesterday I set up a mattress on the floor next to her and laid down there in the hope that would encourage her to sleep in her cot. During the day yesterday she finally went to sleep after much effort. She thought it was hilarious that Mummy was on the floor next to her and kept trying to talk to me whilst standing in the cot. Last night she actually slept in her cot from 7pm to 11pm after which time she refused to settle and ended up coming into bed with us yet again.
When I used to put her in her cot at night she would be half asleep, she would lay in her cot and pretty much well roll over and go straight to sleep. Now its a hysterical cry, arching back and standing up in the cot.
Today during her day sleeps, the morning one was a success after trying for 30 minutes and me sleeping on the floor in her room patting her arm to soothe her. This afternoon was a complete disaster with her getting hysterical and me giving up and just bringing her out into the lounge.
