I was wondering if anyone could help me. During the last week my DD has projectile vomited twice at night. The first time was straight after her night bottle, so I thought it was just that she had just drunk the bottle too fast. However, tonight I put her to bed about half an hour after the bottle, and made sure that we had short breaks during the bottle so that she was not drinking it too fast. She was not settling well, and finally she throwing up everywhere. I am going to try and get her in the GP tomorrow morning, but was wondering if this was a possible sign of teething?? It has not happened during the day. Any advice would be appreciated, as I am understandably upset and stressed because of this. She is now sound asleep, but needed to be cuddled to sleep which was unusual (a comfort for both mum and bub)

If it is only happening at night every night, you could try adding a thickener to her bottle. But this would mean you would have to get a bigger size hole in the teat. Karicare sell food thickener (with the formula's in the chemist). I don't know why it would be only happening at this time though......is it follow through from a burp?

 DD2 did this a couple of weeks ago.At first I thought she had a virus or something and pretty much sat up all night to watch her,she was fine but she did it again the next night:confused: After that she was fine and I gave her a little less milk thinking maybe she just drank to much,it worked so who knows but if your unsure go to the gp.Have you changed anything in meals, maybe something just doesn't agree with the milk?Good luck and I hope she's ok!

Thanks for that. GP didn't really have any answers or advice, only that he thought she might need an ultrasound on her tummy if it keeps happening. (not really keen on that idea) Both times it has happened it has been pretty much without warning, She has been off her bottles a bit, leaving about 60 ml on average so I don't think it is that she is drinking too much. Meg has always been a good burper, and touch wood, has had no wind problems. If only they could talk. She was still a bit out of sorts today, so maybe she has a bug, or is teething, and this is her reaction to pain??? (GP thought that this could be possibility.) Thanks again.:D

 Just another thought-does she just vomit and you see her do it or do you see her after as I know my ds used to try and make himself sick(even from before he was 1) as he didn't want to go to bed and he used to put his fingers in his mouth and do it for my attention, then I would cuddle him to sleep(finally caught on and put a stop to it)I'm not saying it's an attention thing but just trying to think of something!

Bailey had the exact same thing except his was in the morning after his first feed. I had to change and give him Karicare HA-AR and this helped. Its a thickened formula.

It really made a difference.

How scary is it when they do the huge projectile- i freaked out the first time:laughing:

Hope all goes well and your bub is back to normal soon!

:hugs:

No don't think it's deliberate, She was sitting on my lap both times and I saw her do it. She gets quite upset afterwards obviously gives her a fright. She does have her pretend cry down pat, however not in this case. I tried the AR formula earlier on when she was little however it tended to upset her tummy, but could be worth a try now she is a bit older. Thank you so much everyone for your support and assistance. I really appreciate it.
