Would you go to a Peking Duck chinese restaurant while pregger?

I have been invited to go there tomorrow night for a farewell diner. I am a bit anxious about eating there - it's a student type of chinese eatery. Not too comfortable with the food safety standards.

It's not a friend going away so I don't feel too guilty not going but I am worried the other guests will find our non-venue very rude. Any idea of a good excuse??

I would have gone to any restaurant but chinese and japanese are out for me. Too risky in my mind.

Why is Chinese or Japanese more risky than others? They all have to comply to the same food standards as everyone else
I'm 35 weeks and have been to Chinese restaurants probably 6 times this pregnancy. I don't really like japanese food so haven't been there. I've eaten plenty of Thai though!

Japanese or Chinese might not be more risky than others but I choose to leave them out during my pregnancy.
Japanese because the food I like there involves raw fish .
Chinese because I have been sick on two occasions (different places) so not keen to take the gamble ;)

FearlessLeader, it's not the one on Smith st. I keep hearing ppl raving about it :)

Just say you're not feeling well if you don't want to go, that's always a legit pregnant lady excuse. Or, I could disguise myself as you and go instead.

I don't get the craziness around peking duck, never been a fan, so would leave you my seat in a flash.

I can't play the pregger card, it's not official yet (we won't tell before another 8 weeks!)

Oh God... now I want Peking Duck so bad.

The one on Smith St (Old Kingdom) is soooooo good. Except I got into trouble for not arranging my pancake contents the right way...

ETA: forgot to answer the OP. Pregnant or not, I'd go for sure in case that wasn't obvious. Otherwise there are plenty of bugs going around that you could easily pretend you have. Or go and just don't eat anything? Say you've eaten earlier?

I'd never say no to peking duck :-P But you're worried about the place hygene and you don't like the food anyway, maybe tell them you have gastro or sth like that.

Forgot to update This thread :)

Based on your comments and everyone raving about the duck, I went ;)

I found it very ordinary, tasted like oily overcook chicken in a pancake really.
At least it was cheap! And most of the guess loved it. :)
