DD is 11 months old and I want to wean her at 12 months (see my other thread which explains why).
We are down to 3 bf's a day at the moment and then one feed through the night.
I was just wondering for those who didn't child led wean how did you go about it?
DD has dropped all her feeds herself. Sometimes she still seems interested in an afternoon feed (she currently bf's when she wakes up, at 11am and then before bed) but I can easily distract her with some food and water from a sippy cup. If I'm not home when she wakes up (early morning gym class twice a week) DP can give her breakfast, but then she still wants booby as soon as I walk in the door.
She's not a big eater and my doctor has told me to keep going with the middle of the night feed so even though it should probably be the first feed to go, it will probably end up being the last.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated! I won't be actively trying to wean her until she's 1...but then I would like to have her weaned by 14 months.
I would appreciate it if no one comes here to tell me that I should still bf and worry about a baby later. I know about all of the benefits of breastmilk and I know that the WHO recommends bf'ing until 2 years of age but I was only ever going to bf for 3 months and I'm happy with making it to 12 months. I won't be guilted in to continuing to bf by people I don't know.
