View Full Version : Early Miscarriage???
Hi everyone, a few days ago I had really bad pain that was like contractions for about 32 hrs, i ended up in cas with them thinking i was constipated or had a blocked bowel! anyway they gave me some pain relief and laxatives and told me to follow it up with my local doctor. I also had this pain for a whole day about a wk before.
A few days before all this i had that familiar nausea feeling, and actually went and bought 2 tests, both were negative. Anyway when I got home from the hospital I had a really HEAVY period and today i have had clotting and more havy bleeding, and i now believe that i have had a miscarriage. What i want to know is what do i do now, if anything at all? Do i go to the doctors to see about a d&c? Ive never had one before (miscarriage i mean) but i believe that these are all the signs. If anyone could let me know if i do anything from here or just leave it, that would be great.
thanks in advance :o
I wouldn't know Erin, I've never been there either... but I'd go to the doctor even if it's just for your own peace of mind.... (((hugs)))

It could've been a chemical pregnancy. (for those that don't know, the egg fertilises but fails to implant) That would explain the heavier bleed. I'd get checked out just to be sure :)

Coopsntilly- you poor thing, i hope your still not in pain. I think its best to go the the doctors and explain what has happen, i think they will probably do an u/s to see if there are any fetal tissue in the uterus, it does sound strange thou. They will aslo probably give you a blood test to see if you have any pregancy hormone in your body (hcg). I have had a D&C and lost by baby due to a molar pregnancy, but i havent gone thru what you have experienced so im not 100% sure. I hope you are ok. Please let me know how you go. Thinking of you.
Erin
It sound similar to something that happened to me that did turn out to be a miscarriage - definitely worth seeing your doctor for your own piece of mind if nothing else.

Erin, Hugs to you.
I've miscarried twice and never went to the doctor after. Mine were more like normal periods though, nothing painful & never had a D&C. Definitely go see the dr if you want some reassurance. I think you may not need a D&C if you're bleeding on your own, but if you start to feel sick or fevered in the next few days or weeks then definitely get checked out.

Erin,
First of all I am sorry for your loss.
Not that I would know, as I haven't had a natural m/c, and had to have a d&c instead, but I would request a scan to make sure all is gone. Even though the d&c was not the best of experiences, a positive I brought out of it was that I was all cleaned out for next time, and my next bubba had a good fresh clean chance.
At least a scan will show it is all good, and if not they will have to do something, but from what I understand a natural m/c is exactly that it gets rid of it all naturally for you, but in saying that you never know, and it might hinder your next pregnancy. A scan will get it all right in your mind anyway.
Take care.
Hi Coopsntilly
This sounds like what happened to me (pre DS) I saw my doc and she didnt order any tests etc as it was early and natural m/c usually rids your body of everything in the early stages,
but definantly go and see your doc anyway just to make sure.
I hope you are feeling ok and i am sorry for your loss, it doesnt matter what stage your at its still a loss......
Thanks heaps guys, i couldnt get in to see my doctor over the w/end so i am booked in to go today, I will let you all know what he says, what im a bit worried about is, if it wasnt a miscarriage, could something else be wrong??? sorry i always worry that something bad might happen, i think it must be a mummy thing :o

Erin, I'm exactly the same with worrying. I always plan on the worst possible outcome
I hope your dr can give you some answers, but I have a suspicion that s/he won't be able to say for sure whether it was a miscarriage unless they do a blood test and you still have elevated HCG levels. My preg tests always came back positive so I knew for sure what had happened.
Good luck.
just thought id give you guys an update.
well i put off going to my dr the other day because i didnt feel well, but i went this afternoon after nathan got home and had a blood test, which i can ring up and get the results tomorrow afternoon, she also did a full blood count to make sure there are no other problems. i have felt unwell again today as well and she said that if the result is pos to come straight back into the surgery, but if it is neg to wait till after the ultrasound of my pelvis she has booked for me for fri, just to make sure everything is ok! will let you all know how i get on, thanks heaps everyone for taking the time to respond :)

Erin, How are you doing? Did you get the test result or are you going to wait for the ultrasound?
well i got the blood test results and they were neg~ so whats going on!!!! now im worried, i know it sounds weird but i was kinda hoping that it would be pos, because then i would at least know what was going on, had to reschedule ultrasound due to the whole suddenly having to move/signing new lease etc, so they will ring me on monday and let me know when i am to go and have it done
