View Full Version : Nappies for new borns
Hi, is Huggies still the preffered nappy brand for new borns. I dont realy know the ausie brand ones...i find myself just starring at the nappies and then leaving and i have to make a choice befor bubs comes. I bought a small bag of Target ones mainly because i was in the shop and needed some for my hospital bag.
Can I get nappy samples somewhere to give them a good look over?

I plan on using huggies for our bub and my mum used them for my 4 sisters. I suppose it all depends on what your comfy using

yep you can get samples from the websites generally.
I think Babylove are awesome, particularly for newborns. I can't stand Huggies, drastically overpriced and every packet I've bought over the years has burst and left absorbant crystals on bub's backside.
I swear by the ALDI MAMIA nappies and wipes though. They're down to $11.50 a packet and are pretty damn good. You change newborns bums so regularly that the main concern is whether the nappy can handle pooplosions or not.

Congratulations :)
With dd I used Huggies but after using both Aldi and the new Babylove I'm pretty sure next baby I'll be more adventurous. I've found both to be good quality and I wouldn't hesitate using them on a newby. I haven't had any leaking with the Aldi Mamia or Babylove. I haven't bought Huggies in months.
Huggies lover through and through. I tried babylove but within a couple hours, DD developed a nappy rash. It just didn't agree with her, ended up giving the whole box away and going back to Huggies. After that I wasn't game enough to try any other brands!
DD was used to do poo explosions regularly, only had one massive leak (in my pram) but trust me, NOTHING would have held that one in ;b I can laugh about it now, but wasn't funny at the time ;b
Huggies!!
Tried a few brands when DS was born and Huggies is the winner!

I started with Huggies for my first baby then tried Baby Love, Snugglers, Modern cloth etc. then back to Huggies because nothing else compared to the quality.
Second baby I have only used Huggies.

Another huggies fan here! I've tried babylove and hated the fit on my DS (they leaked because they were too wide and too big) and the aldi brand which fitted ok and were fine because as PP said I was changing him so often, but I just can't go past huggies!
I have heard that sometimes we get huggies made in USA which are of inferior quality, so I just always check that they are made in aus on the box :)

Baby love seem to be so much softer than huggies and I've never noticed a difference in quality so I've stuck with them
I started DD on Huggies. With the recent crappy USA stock I tried Aldi and hated them (love their wipes though) and tried the new Babylove dry weave. They're awesome! I don't think I'll go back to Huggies with the price difference. I also use MCN when we're at home and work.

I always use huggies and aldi newborns for my new babies, they seem to fit more snugly on little bubs. Once they're at about 6kg I usually move to only baby love or aldi with the odd box of huggies when on special.
The aldi newborn are only about $6 or $8 so it's easy to throw some in the trolley each shop to stock up before bub gets here and you're not adding $15-30 to your fortnightly grocery shop.
I found the target ones to be terrible when I got them to try once, I'd never use them again..

I used Huggies. Made to mistake or switch to a cheaper brand one
