What age would you trust your kitten to be open running in the house at night?
Through the day she runs around the house, as i have the bedroom doors closed, and at night i have her locked in the bathroom.
She is starting to cry being locked up at night, so i thought i would let her run away the house.
Any input would be good.
My cat sleeps in the bathroom at night coz we have a bird and she would terrorize him...
They do get used to it though...
Ive always let mine run through the house at night.. he has his "lively" mood between 9 and 11.. then he usually snuggles on the bed and sleeps the whole night through :D

Our cat has always been put in the sunroom (which is huge!)at night as DH and I both have allergies and our kitty loves to sleep with us. Since having DS, I am even more vigilant about it as I get scared of the cat getting into his cot etc...
I think it is best for them to be away at night.

Ummm all of our cats have had free range as soon as they are litter trained which most are at an early age. As long as the kitty litter isnt too far away i would be fine with it.
Our cats have always had free range even when Boof was born they have always been his protectors & slept in his room as a newborn so they could let me know when he woke up, mind you it wasnt like i couldnt hear him lol they just liked to let me know hehehe.
I only have the one cat now & they are pretty much best of friends except when he stands on her tail lol she is still very protective over him & will let me know if something is wrong she is almost like a dog lol !
If you dont want your kitten roaming the house of a nite is there a way to block off half the house so she has a certain section to play in ? That way she can play, have fun & isnt limited. Cats are usually more active at nite thats why she is probably getting upset as well as just wanting to be close to her family.

mine was like when he was little now he likesto be outside but i let my run around as soon as it knew where the litter box was
My cat has full range of the house other than CK's room i do let her in there when i am in there so she can have a sniff around the cat like to get up in the cot before CK came along and that scared the hell out of me so i just came up the idea of getting a new door and we cut the top half out and put in a screen in the top bit so we can shut the door but cat can’t get in and I can still hear her..
Works well and it looks good..

Once our kittens were litter trained they also had free run of the house..... mind you 9 times out 10 they would end up on the end of bed curled asleep!

Ours have had the run of the house too, as soon as they were litter trained. Well, except for the bedrooms (we shut the doors and have a monitor) as one has always had a habit of curling up with the kids....mostly Charlee in the cot, which doesn't really bother me at her age now, but he wakes her up!

Yup, my kitty was allowed to range the house as soon as she was litter trained. She isnt allowed in my room, but thats because she decides she wants to play at 4 am and sits on my pillow tapping my cheek with her paw.

Both my cats, when kittens had free run of the house 24/7, im not sure if it was pure luck or what, but they both took to the kitty litter straight away.... they have there mad 30/60 mins spazz attacks around 9/10pm and then they come and snuggle on or in bed with me. Never had an issue with mess, or naughtyness during the night.
Yep - as soon as they were litter trained they had free range! God forbid we close a door - its their house and we are just allowed to live with them!!!!Little Rascals!

Our boy has free roam of our house from day dot.
My mum and dad put theirs in the laundry at night because they would annoy everyone in the house otherwise.
