I have been told that a first pregnancy can often right the problem of PCOS and that conception is a lot easier second time around. Just wondering if anyone has found this to be the case? :)

Hi I'm a cyster too :)

I meet lots of PCOSers and we all have wildly differing experiences. It took 2 years to conceive my son and so far about 14 months for #2. I manage my PCOS with lifestyle changes, healthy eating exercise and sometimes herbs from my naturopath.

Good luck!

It certainly happened in my case. DD1 was conceived with the help of clomid, and DD2 was an accident ( of the very happy welcomed variety of accident!) A friend who is an OB told me that I should be careful about contraception as the hormones of pregnancy and breastfeeding can kick your body back into sync if you have PCOS and there is a very high rate of women having babies close together because of this. I got the impression from her that the hormones don't have long term effects.

Anyway - my story is that I started to drop some breastfeeds when DD1 was 11 months old and got pregnant within two weeks (so I have had no period for about 3 1/2 years now - yay). DD2 is still breastfed (she will be one in a few days) and I am showing no signs of ovulating etc so am not sure if the effect will be the same second time round. As we are still undecided about whether we want a third I am just going to wait and see what happens.

I was diagnosed with PCO as well.
I had clomid to conceive DD, tried 2 months on clomid alone. I fell after taking part in a trial of the metformin drug taken with clomid.I obviously didn't get the placebo as i fell pregnant straight away.

I then fell pregnant naturally when she was 9 months old ( huge surprise as i had not had AF since her birth), then i had number 3 unassisted last month.( 4 year gap) My AF rectified itself to 28 day cycle after number 2...reg as clockwork!

Good Luck!

It took me ages to fall pregnant with #1 - well in excess of 18 months. Then I had a cyst aspirated, and was pregnant two weeks later.

Subsequent pregnancies have been much less of a problem to achieve. 5 months for #2, and got it the first time with the impending #3, I was shocked.

I needed clomid for baby #1. She is now 15 months and I have used no contraception and had regular sex all along and no period! I am back on clomid now and it seems that having a baby hasn't changed my chances for #2. Having said that though, something has changed with the birth of my daughter, the weight and skin problems I struggled with all my life have disappeared and I have never been in such good physical and mental health. No more horrific mood swings etc.
So I guess, a few months on clomid is nothing when you consider the fantastic results - healthy mum and beautiful girl!!!
Good luck all... :)
