Just wanted to see if any other avid Huggies users have bought a box of the new nappies and found them absolutely terrible? They are about half the thickness they used to be, the tabs are all mangled & they no longer have the double barrier leakage protection. I have always used Huggies cos I think they are the best but this has thrown me. DS is leaking all the time in the new ones & even after only having it on for 2.5hrs his under singlet can feel damp. Im so disapointed and just wanted to see if anyone else felt the same?! Why was there no warning they were changing their product? Time to look at other brands. I think they are going to lose so much money because of this.

these new huggies are imported from america. i agree they are crap. this box i have at the moment aren't even folded properly, they are so mangled and squashed and warped out of shape and they are hard to put on. i have put a complaint in to huggies.

I wondered why my daughter's bed was wet through the night. Everything for her age is expensive though :(

That explains why my ds is now constantly wetting through when he never used to. I tried babylove but they were no good either.

What the heck huggies :-( I am going to put in a complaint too now I know the story!

Ah that explains why I had 2 daughters wet through their night nappies 3 days in a row!!!
Argh so frustrating when they change the products to cheap cr4p!!!!

nope i haven't brought any nappies for ages so that would be why but i've heard lots of people say this. i think they have only imported them from america while there was a huge demand that they couldn't keep up with then they will go back to the aussie made ones. the people that i've spoken to with problems have contacted huggies and gotten a free box of aussie made ones

I hated huggies - my boys got rashes ..

having said that .. there is nothing WORSE than having a product that works for you, only for them to change the product ... GAH

have you tried aldi nappies? they worked for my boys ??

Have you tried the Aldi nappies? That is what we have swapped to and they have boxes on special at the moment :)

I had the same issue. I had DD in the next size up and even then it didn't help.

I have bought BabyLove Dry weave and they are really good. The regular baby love ones were crap though.

I have bought nothing but huggies for 2 years as they were the only ones that lasted through the night for DD... And now I've had to change.

Think I might call and get a free pack of Aussie ones...

Yep, same problem here. DS is wetting through to the bed every night now, and the tabs don't always work. I didn't know they'd changed. That explains it.

Does anyone know if the newborn huggies nappys are like that? I am due in about 7weeks & have 3 boxes of newborn nappys, I don't want to waste them so I hope they are good ones.

I bought a box of Huggies last weekend and saw no difference they are the same nappies as always. Love them but now Im scared they are going to change, is it just for a while? or forever?

I tried Aldi 2 weeks ago and my gosh they are rubbish. Really hated them and once DS does a pee they smell horrid. Plus they leak over night. And they dont absorb the way huggies do his bum went a little pinkish. And I change often.

yeah Ive heard that theyve changed! we use cloth nappies, but sometimes huggies, thinking about grabbing a few boxes of the old stock just in case, and keeping them aside haha

Babylove dry weave are awesome and work out so much cheaper, about twenty cents per nappy!

Is there a way to tell from the boxes, which are Aussie or Imported??

I want to start buying the newborn nappies to stock up, but not sure if I will now.

No Aldi here and we need pull up style, my dd is nearly 9, it has to be discreet and easy for her.

I HATE huggies "new and improved" nappies.

I only use baby love or the aldi ones!!

I was wondering why DD2 was leaking at night! She leaks out the top though, at first I thought it was DH putting them on wrong but then I started doing her bedtime change and it still happens.

I was given the babylove, but they were terrible! Gah...don't want to have to go on a trial and error journey as if I hate a packet I'll just throw them out!

Yep we changed to baby love dry weave after DS wet through the night 3 times. I only use sposies at night so they need to work well! Bad move huggies, we'll be sticking to babylove.

I've only noticed the change in box size, less nappies per box :(

Thanks for ur replies ladies. I tried Aldi when he was younger but they just weren't for me. Its funny u say theyre imported from America cos I was watching an American film last week and saw the same nappies on there as the box I've got and I wondered if there was a link. Hopefully it is just due to increased demand and the aussie manufacturing picks up & product stays the same. Im not game to buy another box though because u cant tell the difference in the packaging so wont know til u open them. DS is a heavy night wetter so, from the sounds of it, Baby Love dry weave might be the go. Thanks" :)

Do the new boxes look different?

I just bought some 2 weeks ago and they seem to be the same..
For my dd Huggies is the only nappy that doesn't cause rashes..

I'm just trying to see of I picked up a new box or an older one..
Was there a difference in packaging?

I just found this also, read the note at the bottom of the page near the pics. Atleast it sounds like its only temporary, that is the size I use, http://www.huggies.com.au/imported-product-alert

In regards to the Walker sized ones mentioned in the Huggies link: they are still very poor quality/thinner than usual even if Huggies claim to have "matched" the quality. The printing on the bottom of the box says "Made in USA". The Australian ones say "Sold under the following australian patents". The imported nappies inside the box look cheap/very different from the usual design and have "little movers " printed on them (well the walker sized ones do anyway).

Glad I saw this. I normally buy a couple of boxes at a time and we will need some soon. Will check the fine print though I think we should be OK as DS is in Junior and DD in Infant so shouldn't have to worry I hope!

Yep I wondered why they were leaking at night now and not holding poopsplosions anymore :( this sucks because all the cheap nappies give DS a rash and baby love leak and make his urine stink! Only left to try snugglers but seeing as they are owned by Huggies I do not hold much hope.
I use cloth nappies during the day so it sucks I need to try n find a better night disposable now!!!

Hmmm I'm confused. I have 2 boxes here of Junior nappies, different print on the nappy, but both made in Australia? One is crap one is great. The crap ones are thinner and smaller, and one side keeps disappearing up her crack. Shes very big but only 10 months so I'm not sure what happens when she outgrows this size.

Bought some baby love ones to try.

Yep. I'm having to change my 4wk old every 2hrs even overnight as she is waking up wet. It's a PITA as she goes 3-5hrs without feeding but 1.5-2hrs for a nappy change. Thankfully I only bought one box of huggies newborn. We have moved on to babylove - which I've used previously.

Last two bags of nappy pants I have bought have been crap. Sides don't stick together, as soon as you pull them up, no matter how gently, the whole nappy splits. Very disappointed with them.

The huggies we have are definitely not the cheap imports, we got them from safeway! They are just not the same quality as the used to be, on the walker and toddler nappies because we use to use both.
Every box in the store was opened, obviously people looking for the old stock as well.
As wise enough said, had an old box and a new and can notice a very real difference.

I've tried Huggies, Aldi and something else they gave us sample at a baby show. Nothing beats the Japanese nappies called G.oon i'm using now. They are very absorbent but thin and not bulky like huggies. Only that i have to buy online from a company in Sydney.

Well I thought I escaped the dud Huggies nappies but we have been having the same issues as everyone else (DD is in crawler) I've called Huggies and left a message to complain. I'm really not happy. Worst part is is that I have to buy more nappies today and I have no idea what to get (no Aldi near me!) DD is only 8.5kg but I think I will buy the next size up and see how that goes.

i have fingers crossed - i've stocked up with Huggies over the last few months (before this issue came to my attention) as most said Huggies was the best. Just hope i have some good stock -few more weeks before i find out.

Eta mine say made in Australia on them and they are a box not a packet purchased from Coles.

i think the diff between old and new stock is the old nappies are generally blue (apart from newborn i think.. can't remember) for boys and now they are green.

My daughter wears the 14 to 18kg nappy pants and there is limited choice. Baby Love give her a rash and the Pajama Pants are heaps expensive.

This explains a lot! DS is only about 8.5kg so is in Crawlers. The last bulk box we used, the nappies just weren't up to scratch. They weren't absorbing as well as they had before and I was changing them every two hours. The plastic wrap the nappies came in seemed a bit different to normal as well.

I thought DS was just outgrowing them (crazy when they are meant to fit up to 11kg) so I have a box of Walkers to try. At the moment though, he is in Babylove Crawler which the girls at my mother's group love, and they're great. Considering how happy I am with Babylove I won't be buying Huggies again when we get through that last box.

Havnt read the replies but I read somewhere that selling imported buggies is ment to be temporary. I read it a while ago thought so things might of changed. Apparently gotoddler.com.au have 'normal' Huggies still but I don't buy them so I'm not sure.

FYI: the quality Huggies nappy pants were always made in Korea. They say Made in Korea on the bottom of the packet.
I havent come across any newborn boxes yet that are the cheap imports.

I havent come across any newborn boxes yet that are the cheap imports. Those of you suddenly having leaking issues with the Made in Australia nappies might find that their child needs the next size up absorbancy (despite still fitting in the weight range). I found this helped with my son.

I found an old one in a suitcase from a trip away and had no dramas, only with the new pack.

Bambini nappies from priceline are generally pretty good and not too pricey.

Same here, I had a few older nappies in the nappy bag and they were fine. But I didn't really put two and two together until I read this thread, I thought it might have been the sizing. Very tempted to try DS in the next size up this afternoon to compare it.

I haven't had an issue, BUT my DDs are both in Junior size (16kg and up I think?) - DD2 is only 10kg and DD1 only uses them overnight and hardly wees in them.

We were using baby love dry wave but my daughter had to go up to the largest size and they aren't dry wave so really crappy.. We switched back to huggies and all the tabs on the nappies keep ripping off or are just missing all together. It's a real pain in the butt when you've just got yourself set up on the floor and need a new nappy! Now I know why they have been so crap!

We only get Huggies here :freakingout: and DS2 is in Walker size :freakingout::freakingout:.
I use cloth during the day and Huggies at night. I havent noticed a difference yet.

There is no next size up for us :/ not sure what to do now? The Dry Nights Pajama Pants won't fit into the budget yet :(

I switched to the super-cheap Comfybots from coles, and I like them much better than huggies. DD is now TT in the day, but still in nappies overnight. I was using cloth but she started to outwet them so switched to huggies and then the cheapies this year.

Hi All, just thought I'd let u know I got my assertive letter writing hat on & wrote a complaint letter to Huggies, 6 days later i got a box of new, aussie made, boys walker nappies! Thats $33 back in my pocket! So they should though really, those US ones were beyond terrible!

Have the wipes changed too? The unscented ones I just opened yesterday are so thin and tearing easily. So frustrated as they are from a 240 wipe packet! :(

30-07-2012, 00:02
I have noticed they are thinner (My DD wears the crawler size) but we have only ever had one overnight leak in 5 months. So no problems yet. Maybe they should should spend less on those sturdy boxes (which mind you are excellent for storage!) and more on the nappies?

I think the Australian made ones are back, the new box I brought were back to their usual standards
