Ok, so it's 12:44am and I am currently sitting upright in bed with a completely-sealed-shut blocked nose. I can't breathe through it at all and if I lay down I can't even swallow properly as it creates a little seal at the back of my throat where my nasal passages join, if that makes any sense.

I have a box of Flo Rapid Relief nasal decongestant spray in the medicine cupboard. I read online that nasal decongestant sprays are ok to take so I went and fished it out but on the box it says consult Dr if pregnant or breast feeding. So I called Nurse On Call and the nurse said not to take it.

Internet says ok, nurse on call says no. Oh what to do!

I'm desperate for relief, and some sleep before DD2 wakes for her 3am feed would be great!

Has anyone else discussed nasal decongestants and breast feeding with their Dr?

It's medicated so it's probably a no sorry. What about a hot steamy shower? Put some drops of eucalyptus oil in there or get out the oil burner? Personally I used that medic room spray when utd it works well..um no idea if I was meant to though :o never even though to check!

What about using a syringe and flushing your nose with salty water....

Thanks for the replies.

I had a nice hot shower before bed, it opened my sinuses up a treat but as soon as I hop out and cool down they close up again.

My sinuses aren't clogged up as such, when I blow my nose nothing really comes out. I think they are swollen more than clogged IYKWIM. I will try the salt water this morning when I feel like dragging my sorry butt out of bed.

This head cold is a doozy. Fourth one I have had this year thanks to DD1 bringing everything home from Kindy :(

DD2 has also decided tonight was a good night to wake two hourly for feeds too. She didn't even do that as a newborn! I hope she's not coming down with it.

Might visit the chemist today and see what I can get to help get through it.

Whiiiiiine! Thanks for reading this far, anyone would think I had a case of man-flu with the amount of sooking I'm doing. Lol!
