Just wondering if anyone has some solutions for me. Poor little DD has a very red bot. In parts, not all over it is pink/red and welty. It also looks like its a bit peely if that makes sense, like the skin is coming away a bit. Oh it makes me so upset that I can't stop it.
I have tried sudocream, pawpaw, natural bottom balm but am now on moogoo. The boys never had it this bad. I am constantly checking if she has poo'd as I don't want to leave her with one for a second - that's what started it. We are using cloth nappies and I can't really smell poop as easily in them so sometimes have left her without realising she had a small one in there.
She has always been sensitive and can only wear a huggie nappy as the cheaper ones cause her to come out in welts. I can't use any wipes other than eco ones either so wonder if it could maybe be the nappy liners??? But these are bio-degradable natural ones too...
I found when all nappy rash creams didn''t work for my dd (it ended up really bad) I went to the chemist and got some Daktozin Cream.. It's for nappy rash, but you have to ask for it, you won't find it on the shelves. I put it on pretty thick and constantly for a 2 or so days and it really helped.

I always used corn flour. Found that improved nappy rash in a very quick time. Just the cheap stuff you use for cooking. Even now if my little one who is 5 was a little bit red on bottom or in the groin area, i just put a sprinkle of corn flour and its gone quick smart.

I second the cornflour. It was the only thing that worked when dd got a really bad rash. I put sudocream on and then covered that in cornflour. The cornflour will hold the cream against the skin.
Hope you find something that helps :)

I was coming in to say cornflour as well!
I got my son some small undies. Just plain undies. During the day I kept him out of nappies when it got bad and he would lay on the plastic wet protectors covered in a blanket. I would use some baby powder just like the corn flour it soaks moisture and after each wet just throw on a new set of undies after a warm wet flannel. For poos you can smell them fast and wipe off with toilet paper and I had a bath hose to give a quick wash and make sure their really dry.

thanks for the great ideas - looks like cornflour is a winner! Will get some tomorrow when I can pop to the shops without the tribe. I was thinking maybe some nappy free time so will do that too.:fingerscrossed:

I just had to come back and say it's working!! Thanks again so so much! The parts that were raw skin are healing over and reduced by half I just can't believe it - something so simple in just one day. I will use it now at the first sign of a rash so it doesn't get bad again. She obviously has a very sensitive botty.

I have found piling on bepanthen or Amolin is good especially if the skin has broken. Pile it on as it is a great barrier cream stopping anything getting to the skin and also use scent free/fragrance free wipes. Oh and as nappy free as possible. goodluck

My little bub had really bad nappy rash and I called his Pediatrician who suggested Conveen cream. She used it on premi bubs in specialised care. We tried all the normal nappy rash creams and this worked miracles. It cleared him bottom up in 1 1/2 days. I won't use anything else now. It's a little difficult to find in chemists but you can purchase on the Internet. It is also a little more expensive but I would not use anything else. If you live in Victoria, Melbourne, the chemist next door to Baby Bunting in Burke Rd, Balwyn stocks it.

Do you have an aloe Vera plant or do you know of anybody who has an aloe vera plant? If you do, grab a leaf, open it up and pop some of the gel on her bottom.
Even if you go out and buy a pure, organic aloe vera cream.

Nappy free time with a little sunshine on their bottom.
Thanks for this thread! I had come on here to ask too as ds has had nappy rash for a week or so now. I used desatin which I used to swear by. It's been clearing it a bit but not completely. I have also been doing salt baths but not working! I just did the salt bath again applied desatin and the cornflour on top.
When he wees won't it be gross in his nappy? Like thickened wee? Isn't that what it's for..thickening? So maybe I should do it during the day not night?

Bicarb bath works best for DS when he has bad nappy rash. Works wonders every time

We use corn flour here too! I had used every cream under the sun and corn flour was by far the best (and cheapest!!)
I swear by the Curash Medicated Family Powder for nappy rash!! Also fantastic for heat rash or chaffing in older kids/adults. It's in the blue container rather than the regular white one =)
