View Full Version : 2 early teeth
Hi
This week my baby girl Evany got her bottom front teeth. Both are clearly through. She in only 5 and 1/2 months old. Is this early to have 2 teeth? My son got his first tooth (and only one of) at 6 months. Evany wants to bite everything she can get her mitts on :D
Very rarely a baby will be born actually with a tooth in their mouth! So really, any time is right for teething, and at the other extreme, my neighbours son had a gummy smile right up until the week before his 2nd birthday, they were on the verge of getting his gums x-rayed, as they were afraid there were no teeth at all, when they all began to sprout!

DS got his first tooth at about 5 months, he now has 12 at 14 months of age-he too bites everything he can, luckily we've trained him to bite his wrap (muslin blankie) when he is really irritated by them.
P.S I love the name Evany, can I ask how you chose it, its very pretty, kind of a cross between Ebony and Eva :)

My daughter Raleigh sprouted her first two teeth (within 24 hours of one another) at just over 4 1/2 months. I was born with teeth. I think she did me a favour to wait that long :D
Nathan was a few days short of 4 mths when he got 4 teeth all at once and my brother was 6 weeks when he got his first tooth. All babies are different.
My Nathan was 11 months before he got his first tooth. He's now 2.5 and he's only just gotten his last eye tooth in the last couple of weeks.

My mum was a dental nurse and has said that often if you examine families, teeth appear in a sequence and time frame similar to the previous generations. Also that if baby teeth appear early, often they are lost a little earlier and vice-versa. I'm not sure if this information is still current as mum hasn't been in the industry for some time, but my son got his teeth late and has only just lost his first two at seven years of age.
my son got his frist 2 at 3 months old... they came out at the same time... the rest soon followed !

Children are so varied.. my daughter got her first tooth at 17 weeks old and had 4 by the time she was 6 months. She was totally finished with her teething by a few months shy of her second birthday.. I sort of hope any other children get their teeth a little later to be honest.

My son is teething right now, and he's only a few days over 4 months old. :)
I've actually heard more anecdotes of babies teething in their early months then I have of babies teething around 6 months onwards, when they are "supposed" to. So I think any teething in the early months is actually quite normal.
Good luck; Aiden has been extremely high maintenance with his teething! I just want the darn things to finally break through and be done with it! :p
Cheers,
DoulaFelicity, don't know if you read my post properly or I didn't explain properly :  My daughter 'has' 2 teeth. The broke through when she was 5 months and at 5.5 months were fully out of the gums. She started getting red cheeks and dribbling when she was 3 months, same as my DS but his teeth didn't emerge until 6 months. DD is now 6 months and we can see another 6 teeth ready to come through.

My boy is 6months and nothing yet! There is nothing abnormal about being born with teeth, getting them early (or two at a time) or getting them late, every bub is different!
