Hi! I was wondering what everyone's 6m olds are up to? DD is 6m old now and I'm finding it so enjoyable! She's sitting up really well and so she is so much happier! She can see the world and play with her toys. I can also get so much more done with her sitting beside me playing while I do chores!

DD can't yet get herself from lying down to sitting - when do they start to do that?

DD is talking heaps but she mainly makes the same kind of noise - 'da-da'. She doesn't really make any other sounds? Although she loves to raspberry!

DD is also banging heaps and kind of waving, but not clapping. She thinks it's hilarious when you clap though!

What's your 6m old up to?

Hi there,
My 6 month DS is such a sweetie too.
He is no where near sitting up for any length of time but I noticed yesterday he is trying to get his knees underneath him and push forward. I'm not ready for crawling!!!!
He's only just now getting the hang of eating he's now a week off 7 months. I guess he just not a hungry bub.
His favorite thing too is blowing raspberries and saying dadada.
No sign of teeth here.
I'm so upset that I'm going back to work in 3 weeks coz I don't want to leave him.

Oh! I'm not ready for crawling either. My DD trys to crawl in a bit of a commando way, and just ends up going backwards! Must be so frustrating for her! But she LOVES to stand and is always pulling herself up on things, so I wonder if she will skip crawling all together!

Isn't food fun?! My DD makes such a mess and just loves it! Sometimes doesn't get much food in but that's ok!

We have one tooth coming through now, I wonder how long until its poking up?

I'm starting back at work next week! So I know how you feel! I'm doing 3 days a fortnight and my DH will stay home those days. He will bring her to me for feeds 3 times a day so it isn't so bad!

Wow your DD is really moving with standing up. That's great but scary at the same time.
3 days a fortnight sounds awesome workwise. At least you'll get that special time feeding throughout the day. I'm not so lucky.... I'm going back to full time shift work and I just don't know how I'll cope with DD in school and my little man. I'm sure it will all work out.
They really are awesome at this age. My DH is totally smitten with his boy and he too hates going to work and leaving him.
Xxx

I know it's really not fair when you have to leave them. My DH hates it too. Wouldn't it be great if everyone could just stay home all of the time?!?

I'm sure it's going to be a big adjustment back to work with 2 kids now for you! My DH works shift too.

Isn't a fantastic age? My favourite so far!

Hi ladies. My DD seems a bit delayed but she's learning to sit unsupported and loves standing! Hates tummy time and has no interest in rolling :(

Sounds just like my DD! Loves to stand!! She also hates tummy time. She also gets stuck on her back and just lies there and whines, we call her Tommy Turtle!

I'm sure your DD will catch up!

How about chatting? Is she a little talker?

Het my DS is opposite. Can't sit unsupported at all but loves being on his tummy and rolls everywhere.
Still not great at eating and gags if there are any lumps in his food lol.
Gets his needles tonight :(

Isn't it funny how they are starting to develop in their own little individual ways?!? When they were younger I found all of the babies I knew did the same thing at pretty much the same time. But now they are all developing in different areas at different paces. Becoming their own little person I suppose!!

Omg yes they certainly are getting their very own personalities.
DS is so very different to when DD was his age or maybe I just can't remember lol.

This little DD is sooooo different to her big sister!

So, my 6 monther is rolling, sitting up assisted in a bumbo or high chair but leans to the side after a while and gets cranky about it. Dislikes tummy time but because I babywear her a lot - thats not an issue because it makes up for that.

She laughs, squeals, chatters when she comes home from a day out to the first person she sees as if to give a run down of her day. Nothing recognizable though.

No teeth - but certainly teething! She wears amber so I hope that helps as it increases in pain.

No water - just exclusively breastfed (yay! As this was my goal this time - my toddler started eating at 5 months) and only a try of banana (more gnawing) and the same with a grape. Will do BLW with her too. Hope to start that at 7/8/9 months or when more interest/body control is shown.

Sleeps in the morn and afternoon for a couple of hours and a quick sleep in the carrier during the evening rush. Overnight she wakes at 10 for that dream feed and then probably another 2 times (dont know for certain as I sleep through it as we co-sleep and I go straight back to sleep) with a 6:30 wake up usually.

She sits 'average' on those outdated charts - she's 6kgs.

We are quite similar with sleep, maybe feeds a little more. All of my friends have these babies who sleep differently to DD so it's reassuring that I'm not the only one, babushkamumma!

When you say she hates tummy time, but you make up for it in the sling, what do you mean? DD doesn't love tummy time but she is worn a lot too.

Babywearing is an excellent way for little ones to develop good neck, head and back control because they are facing inwards (ideally) so they use their back and to accommodate the parents movements, to look around etc and if they sit in an optimal carrier - their posture is aligned correctly (usually upright)..

Usually too we wear for longer periods of time than they like to do tummy time so they use their neck for longer..

Haha yep my DD too. Except I tell her she's lazy and she gives me a massive smile. I hope so. I think she's developing a flat head from being on.her back :( But chatting... Well babbling... Doesnt stop at night. She's quiet during the day though...

Hi my dd is busy exploring her world. Everything goes in her mouth, including my finger if offered. She cut two bottom teeth before she hit 6mths. She isn't sitting but will sit in a bumbo seat or if i sit her up and support her. I thought I heard her say dada today. My first born said mummum first. Im frustrated as she is not rolling :( She is trying very hard but doesn't seem to get an grip on the floor as being cold she is in rompers and her feet are slipping. She has rolled from front to back but cant do it the other way. She was 3 weeks early so it could be a developmental thing. She has been on solids for about 3 weeks just two feeds a day, usually breakfast and dinner and is enjoying the choices I have offered so far. Apple, pumpkin, carrot, pear she is not keen on and I tried avocado the other day but it wasn't the nicest of avocados so she didn't care for. She is squeeling heaps and loves her time in her jumperoo crossed between a jolly jumper and an activity centre.

Hey blue butterfly. My 6 month old doesn't roll either way. She's just not interested. It frustrates me as all my friends bubs started at 4 months :(

Yes I know heartjb. My girl well grizzle if on her tummy for more than 5 minutes. She has rolled a few times but is happy for me to roll her from front to back and back to front. She is too busy cutting teeth and babbling lots. I thnk she has just started to say dad dad da. They will get there. The professionals would probably tell me she is behind, but i guess that is studied over I don't know how many thousands I learnt with my first they take there own time. he didn't roll until 6mths and he sat a bit later but he is ahealthy happy active 5 year old now.She has no desire to roll yet, she seems to be able to see more when on her back and watches her brother running around.
