Maybe I'm getting a bit ahead of myself here, but when you live i'state from family and friends you have to plan ahead. Hubby and I are going to VIC to spend Christmas with my family - I will be about 17wks at the time.. I cant forsee me going to VIC again before the bub is born, but 17wks seems VERY early to have a baby shower. I want to do SOMETHING to involve my family when we are down there, but I dont want to 'steal the thunder' of it being Christmas, and its also very early...
Not sure... What would you do?
i think they are meant to be held around the 8 month mark. i didnt have one with either of my 2 so im not sure on the 'rules' lol. im sure it wouldnt be stealing the 'thunder of christmas' after all(to me anyway) its a time for family and im sure your famiy would not mind at all:yes:
sorry i dont have any alternative ideas to involve them but ill be back when i do:D

Hi Pink Lady !
I say go for it - your family would love to be involved and it would make the Christmas season more festive! A pregnancy is to be celebrated every day and there should be no hard and fast rules. The only thing is, if you plan on finding out the gender, at that stage it is still a little too early - re specific gender gifts ..
Goodluck and let me know how you get on ..

Thanks ladies - I guess I'll see how I feel closer to the time. Not that its all that far away!! Christmas is creeping up very quickly!
LOL I thought u were going to say wanted to have one NOW...
I don't think 17 weeks is too early, especially if it means your family can be involved!

LOL  I am pretty excited, but I have managed to restrain myself LOL!
I'm thinking now that maybe I'll ask my Mum and sis to organise it - My bub will be the first of its generation in our family, so its already a big deal

I think you should go for it. If your family can be involved - than thats what you want!
You wouldnt be stealing the thunder of christmas - Christmas is a time to celebrate life - expecially your new little life growing inside of you!

I've spoken with my Mum about it and she wants me to come up in November so we can have it then! No way - that WILL be WAYY too early... Anyway, there still isn't a problem with Christmas, so she is still happy to make it then for me...
How exciting - I get to have a baby shower and Christmas all in one! :yelclap:

i was in the same situation last year. I had mine mid December when I was 20 weeks. The sex of the baby didn't matter, I just got heaps of white singlets/bondsuits etc.
I also received heaps of nappies/powder/lotion/toys - the list goes on and on.
I think the only problem you will have is how to get it all home. I had to borrow 3 suitcases from my Mum to fly it all home, and pay $120 excess baggage. It was worth it though.

I forgot to add that once DD was born and everyone knew, they all sent little pink outfits too! I guess this was because they missed out on visiting in hospital, so lucky DD got 2 rounds of pressies.
