My son turns 2 next month and I can't for the life of me think of what to get him. The main problem is that he is my 2nd son and kinda follows on / plays with what his older brother has already. He loves dinosaurs and animals etc but I can't find anything new to get him. I feel bad I want him to have something special. I will spend $100- $150 but would much rather much less.
Any ideas?
TIA

Target has a big range of dinosaur train clothes, dvds and toys. My 2 yr old ds is obsessed so we got him an outfit and some of the interactive dinosaurs and a dvd for his 2nd birthday.

Books :) my ch'n have books from their first, second third etc...birthdays, very special and lovely when they pass them onto younger cousins or friends.
If your ch'n already have a lot of toys, maybe something a little alternative like a sapling tree/seeds/bulbs etc and some real child-sized gardening tools.
I've bought DD a Thomas the Tank engine train set for her 2nd birthday.
What about outdoor play equipment - like a little slide/ swing?
Other presents DD is getting (from family and us):
A car garage thingy where the cars slide down ramps;
More Duplo;
A Dora laptop that teaches shapes and numbers;
An easel that's a blackboard one side and holds paper the other;
A Happy People treehouse play set;
A hobby horse;
Books.

Old fashioned wooden toys. I love those. They don't need batteries and will last a lifetime. Great to hand down to the grand children.
Or what about something handmade? I am planning on finding secondhand wood and making DS a special toy box for his 3rd birthday as I am on a terrible tight budget (as usual).

.:hyper:you have the reason and they are healthier than modern toys

I second the ikea toy kitchen, its unisex and the kids spend hours playing with this sort of stuff. We have one and boys and girls alike gravitate to it.

Check out the ikea website, I think from memory its below $100
Seriously a great pressie that will get years of use weather it be cooking 'lunch' or when they are older used by the 'mad professor' to help make his secret formula :p Ikea also sell accessories like pots, pans, unisex tea sets etc......
I agree with Thomas the Tank trains, balance bike, or his own 3 wheel scooter.
Is he into Fireman Sam or Octonaughts?? Target and Big w in their catalogue have released these in toys...
You can also never go wrong with books, duplo etc
