Dear Mummy_Johnno,

At only 6 months, it sounds as though your bub has made a very quick and successful transition to solids! As a guide, from 6 months of age, your little boy should be having around 100mL of formula/kg weight each day (which will probably work out to 5-6 bottles of 180 – 200mL formula each day) and up to 3 small solid meals each day.

Let your bub guide you with his hunger. If he is happy with the amount of formula and puree that you are giving him, then continue with what you are doing. If, however, you notice signs that he has had enough or too much too eat, such as pushing the spoon away, turning his head, covering his mouth or reducing his formula feeds, then reduce the amounts of solids you are giving for a while. Do not let solids replace formula feeds at this stage. Bubs are usually very good at telling us adults when they are still hungry and when they have had enough, so we just need to listen to them.
