Last year we had a halloween party at our place, we had a double garage that was really old with a dug out room like a dungeon (we locked a few people in there, pretty funny). We made a graveyard and a nasty punch and stuff. It was good fun. I love fancy dress!
Too trashed to get good pics but heres some - I was Beetlejuice and DH was Shrek. My hair looks **** i was so hot I couldnt be bothered wearing the gammy wig i had made up so i just talculm powdered my hair so looks a bit lame.
This year I am trying to get my mums group into a halloween playgroup session; the kids dressed up fro maikyras 2nd birthday party and we all had so much fun doing it. ANy reason for a dress up for me!
How about you Jem?

My friend is born on Halloween, weird chick too. I dont go out for it anymore. Might have to this year. I doubt I'll dress up though, my town isnt really a good place to find a costume at the last minute.

nope not doing anything here
We dont do anything here, very BORING!
I love watching the American shows because they go all out for it! :)
I wish we did that here. Its not an american holiday, its a pagan holiday (actually celebrated at the wrong time LOL) about remembering passed loved ones.
Just a friendly warning~ :D

Ha ha ha ha I love it! I was expecting your photos, Jem!
Maikyra has been freaking out when she sees those fake santas on the side of buildings - "Mummy stop helpo santa please mum he falling!" Wonder whether shed want to help that poor witch!
OMG LMFAO Jem!!!! That is an absolute classic! Hahahahahahahaha!
I love Halloween. So wish I had some digi pics of our party from a couple years ago, twas great, decked out the house like a dungeon and had a graveyard out back, I dressed as a witch (not too far removed from my normal clothes actually! LOL). Had a bunch of printed pics from it, but they're all cut up into a framed collage now. And I was JUST pregant too, so it was kinda my last hoorah iykwim.
I kept all the decorations I made (took me weeks) so I can use em again when I have kiddies old enough to 'get it'. We'll have a party every year for sure!
There are so many old pagan festivals still celebrated far and wide, but it's weird it's still in October here in the Southern Hemisphere. Traditionally, Halloween was known as All Hallow's Eve, or for Wiccans it is called Samhain and it was the midpoint between the Autumn Equinox and the Winter Solstice, and considered the time when the fabric between the past and future and the living world and the underworld was at its thinnest, and so a time for communing with passed loved ones and spirit guides... it is also the Wiccan New Year. Sounds a bit airy fairy to some I spose, but to each their own. I love the old pagan stories
And I figure if everyone else is dressing up in October, it'd be silly to miss out because of a little discrepancy... hehehe. I still feel very close to my spirit guides and passed loved ones any time anyway, but I'll usually send up a blessing and say hello at the more appropriate time for the turning of our Southern seasons - ie: around May 1st.
Would love to see some more pics from others' Halloween celebrations! Ooooooh, I just can't wait to dress up with my kids! I will definitely have trick or treats for whoever pops by - and eat em myself if nobody else does of COURSE!! LOL

This year is the first time in about 5 years my group of friends aren't having a costume party. Of course there is still going to be a party, what sort of goths would we be if we didn't have a party!
Little Miss Ruby has however requested to dress up as a pumpkin. It is going to be unbearable cute!
I love the old pagan stories
 Me too :D

so we play games out the backyard ,
I really don't need to dress up that much
I don't need a long black wig

I dont celebrate Halloween anymore. Its so depressing here because a)i never see kids wandering the streets at night with adults (and i mean kids in the hoards) going to each house getting lollies b)no one is into it!
I would love for my son to experience a true halloween and my girls but that might have to wait. Until then at the USA food store they have a trick or treating event..pity its the middle of the day tho..
my dp is canadian grew up in usa too and theres just no way to hold him down on halloween!
he gets bags and bags of lollies and then we make up lolly bags. he gets dressed up and makes sure the kids are too. last year he took them out to trick or treat and i stayed home for the kids who knock at our place.
the year before i took the kids out for a bit and they already had a stash or goodies. we knocked on the door of a nice asian we always talk to in the street and she was very suprised to see my kids all dressed up! she went away from the door and came back with money, put it in my sons basket and took out a chocolate bar! ds was only 2 at the time and he just stood and waited quietly while i tried to explain what we were doing ( not selling the sweets like she thought! )
she got the idea. she took the money back out of his basket and said "solly solly" laughing and giving the kids a cuddle. ds swipped the choc bar out of her hand and put it back in his basket then gave her a quick hug! oh and i thought he was too young to understand!
this year dp is taking dd1 to hire a witch costume this year...she is soooo excited!
there is a house in gladstone that open up a 'haunted house' it is so awesome. they put a huge show on and its just fantastic. ive taken the kids through and they bug me every year.
last year a friend organise with heaps of friend and family to have something "ready" at their house and we drove to all the houses that we organised so the kids could 'safely' do their trick-or-treating!
they had a ball.. and the costumes are fun to do.
the kids cant wait for this halloween.
I dont really celebrate as such but get a few kidsfrom the local primary knocking on the door. Found a real cool helloween hat for EJ though a couple of weeks ago and had to take a pic thought I'd send it to the relatives on Halloween  May do another pic though closer to the time lol
