My bubba's first birthday is on the 15th of december I would really like to have a party for him...LOL..really for me and his dad.I am concerned as it is so close to chrisse and I wouldn't want to put to much strain on friends and family, but hell your only one once.Should I have a big doo or should I think of others and limit it to close family?I ask Because I myself am a christmas day baby and only ever did the family thing because of the money issues, excepting my 10th and 21st b'days and I sometimes think I missed out.

,but hell your only one once.
My thoughts exactly! Go for the biggest party you want :yelclap:
i would still have a party, im sure no one would mind celebrating his very 1 st birthday!!!
all 3 of my kids are around christmas time. good timing!
My DS is going to be one on the 13th December. I am going to have the party the weekend before his birthday for friends etc and a family one at home on the day :)
Having it the weekend before means people aren't all caught up in last minute Christmas shopping etc.

My DS2's birthday is 6th of December, he will be 2 this year. I think it is still nice to do something special, for my DS's first birthday we only had family but that was only because i think they are too young to know what is going on, this year though i am going to invite playgroup friends etc over. I dont think it is too much strain, gosh they dont have to buy anything too big, it is nice to make the day special no matter how close to christmas etc it is.

Hi my birthday is the 29th of December. So four Days after Christmas and to top things off Im a twin.
I remember having a party like every 3 years and we had an 18th and 21st.
We either had our parties though early December or Mid Jan.
Just to make it easier for people.
I asked my Dad once if it bothered him that our Birthday is then and he said no its just like your Sisters birthdays you only have one so the money i would spend on your birthday any other time of the year i spend then. Theres no difference.
So that makes sense. I hate it though!!! Because I only really get presents once a year.!! LOL.
But at least its a fun time of year chrissie, bday, new year then Jacks 1st Bday 7 days after mine.

Our first son turns 4 on 6/12 and planning partys is always hard with Christmas parties etc but DS2' s 1st birthday is on New Yrs Day so i think a family picnic that day and on top of that half the family is away then too (inlaws)

Thanks for your Ideas. It is great to know other people don't think we are being selfish. I like the idea of celebrating the weekend before his party. That would probably suit us better to.

I don't think you are being selfish at all.
Instead, you are providing a celebration for all your loved ones, to come and celebrate the milestone that is your baby's first year! :D
My birthday's the 8th Dec, not too close to Christmas and week before your bub, but I love having it then as to me the whole of December is filled with parties and get togethers.
Have a party, it's all part of December the party month!

My DD was born 22/12/2000 and my son was born 28/12/2005. So i have one 3 days before xmas and the other 3 days after xmas. My daughter had a birthday party every year since she turned one and we would generally have it the weekend before but as we are going away xmas day this year we are taking the kids to Taronga Zoo on my daughters birthday and as her friends from school have younger siblings that are friends of DS there families are coming too so we will be celebrating both their birthdays on the same day this year with friends and will celebrate with family in NSW on xmas eve and then with family in QLD on DS birthday. So this year it will be pretty hectic but in future years they can both have a small party each. I used to go way overboard with my DD parties.

I would say "go for it" ... your friends and family will be happy for your little ones no matter when their birthdays are!
My DH birthday is 23 December (same as my sister) and we have a "birthday in July" ... so he doesn't have to wait a whole 12 months to be spoilt. I buy him a gift, a card (Happy 34.5 Birthday!), take him out to dinner and make a real fuss of him. He loves it!
