My poor DD ( 2years old) got sore gums which i thought was her molars coming through. I then noticed on Thursady morning that her gums were bleeding when she brushed them.

I asked the doctor when i was there as they has swollen up and he said she had gingivitis from brushing too hard and too much (twice a day) He gave her antibiotics but it is now Saturday and they look worse not better (you nearly can't se her top teeth) and she has two huge ulcers on her tongue. She has hardly been eating and cried all night.

Has anyone had this happen and do you have any suggestions on how to heal it quickly?

I'd suggest that you take her to your dentist....

yes i second that - go and see a dentist. she shouldn't have gingivitus form brushing too much. she might have picked up an infection or gotten mouth ulcers from someone.

or has she bumped her face on anything lately?

get her to rinse several times a day with warm salty water. that will help with the ulcers.

I agree take her to the dentist......

But i do know there is a mouth wash for gingivitis... you can get it from the chemist!

Goodluck... :fingerscrossed:

I don't know if it's gingivitis but my DH actually had this problem as well from too vigorous/frequent brushing. He was "prescribed" sensodyne and a soft toothbrush.

The ulcers don't sound pleasant though and you should have it checked by a dentist as soon as you can!

hey, if she still has the ulcers, like others have said rinse with warm salty water, and also you can put most teething gels on them (i know sedegel (sp?) and bonjela can be used on them) it helps ease the pain a bit.
