Where do you go to get your babies vaccinated? DS had his two month injections at a council location but the queue was so long that this time I want to go to the GP. I guess it's probably better to go to the council so we're not sitting around breathing in waiting room germs. Just wondering where everyone else goes and their reasons...

I take the boys to the GP, not to avoid the queues so much but so our Doc can give them a checkup as well and answer any questions that I have.

GP.....nowhere else around here does it.
GP - He's wonderful, Cobey gets a check up, he gets us to wait in the waiting room afterwards to check for any immediate adverse reactions and we're not so rushed.
I haven't done a council one, but I imagine it would be a bit rushed. (at my GP we get 2 needles, then settle settle settle, then comes the 3rd one, settle and wait) :)

Actually I take the noodle to the council. I go to them because that is what they do, all the time, and they are very experienced at giving little people needles... Where I go it is not rushed, they do give the needles one two three, but that is how I like my needles happen, before I know it .
DS has had three lots of needles so far and 2 were at the council and one done by a nurse at the GP's (we were there for something else). I actually prefer the council - the doctor who did them was really nice, we didn't have to wait for ages and to top it all off I got a lolly for being so brave (never mind poor DS who actually got the needle :o ).
We go to local Community Health centre - excellent service & don't have to pay a cent.

My maternal and child heath nurse does all the immunisations. I think this is quite unusual though. She is actually much more knowledgeable about vaccination than my GP (he's a nice young guy but not very experienced).
we go to the gp for several reasons.
1. so i can have ds checked at the same time and have any other questions answered.
2. They are a 2min walk from our house, where as the library for the council ones is a bus ride. and 90%of the time the bus is an old one which is a pain in the butt with the pram.
3. GP bulk bills us anyway. And ds knows him and is used to him.

We use the council clinic here because when it came time for Boof to have his being still relatively new to the area we took him to the medical centre not knowing about other doctors in the area.
Now while he was lovely this doctor we saw & if we needed to use him again i would he didnt give Boof the meningicoccol ( sp? its late :p ) vax which i didnt realise was available until i saw the ad ! Nor did they have any of the polio vax which annoyed me to no end & told me id have to wait a month till they recieved more
Anyways we got a leaflet for the council clinic & we went ! They organised all the vax's so he could catch up which was great plus not only that but they are lovely as well as being very experienced at giving them it means less stress as well as more advice etc !
They also advised up ( even though they arent allowed to heheh ) which doctor to see in the area !

DD goes to the Council vaccinations. We are in a small community, so the line isn't too long. I usually get there 15 minutes early and are first in line. There are 2 nurses that do it and they are lovely. I figure that DD will learn to trust them as she has only seen our GP twice anyway.
My GP is always running at least 30 minutes late, so its quicker the other way.

I'm very lucky that my local GP was the council doc for vaccinnations for ages whilst her kids were young.
So I get the best of both.
I went to the council one first and it was awful, had to wait for ages, had to pay! (my GP is free) then the nurses made my DD cry before she even got a needle.
No tears at my doc, god bless her!
I voted other in this since I've had EJ done at both places. Her last shots were at the docs and I think the nurse that did them was a lot better than the council nurses were. With the council I always make sure im there early that way there isnt a long queue.
With her 12mth ones the local council ones that i usually go to are on her bday so I wouldnt do it to her on that day though they have them at my closer health center a couple of weeks later so may do them then. Im also tossing up getting the nurse at the docs to do them this time also since she handled them a lot better there last time.

I take DS to the GP!
:) Hi there..
I got my bub at the council as i didn't want here to sit in the waiting room full of sick people at the Dr's and most Dr's don't do the neddles anyway the nurses do and at the council one i go to there is 3 nurses Bub sits on your lap 1 nurse holds legs and the other two on each side of bub count to 3 and jab at the same time so it is all over really quick my bub only cried when they held her legs and she held her breath when thay did the neddles and then i was up and out of the room before she knew what was going on....
And I just have to say a BIG thankyou for giving your kids the inmmunisations in the first place...
Take care...:)
I take DD to the GP. While we had to wait quite a while each time, I trust my GP (if she could have delivered my baby I would have had her), and she bulk billed us for it, the government funds the needles. Also she has given Megan a checkup each time, and reassured me about any of my worries.

I go to the GP. I never really thought about my reasons... probably because my Mum always took me to the GP instead of letting me get them done in school (which I was always grateful for, they just rushed through everyone and had people crying and fainting) but he took his time and was very experienced at them.
Also because I hate going to the community health centre. I just hate going to that area because there are so many weird people always walking around. It creeps me out.
I take the boys to the GP, not to avoid the queues so much but so our Doc can give them a checkup as well and answer any questions that I have.
I take DS to the gp for the same reason.
Also my GP lets me take as much time as i need in her office if DS is upset.

GP every time. He was my dr growing up and loves to give DD a cuddle so thats a bonus. Plus it gives me a chance to have a chat to him about anything that might be bothering me.

I take my son to the GP, he is only 15 months old, but will be taking him there even as he gets older, as at least I can be there with him.....and it is our family doctor, so they know all his history and etc......
