Hi there all.
My DD will be 18mths by the time xmas comes around and so far I am having a few probs in what to get her for xmas toy wise.
We have decided on a trike that has a handle in which we can control for her whilst she learns to ride but I was looking through her toy collection today and realised she doesn't have alot of things that amuse her now.
I have been looking at the fisher price little people range as I know my mum has bought her a little car with a mum and a baby in it for xmas.
Not sure if I should get her the little doll house one or something to compliment the car mum has got.
She doesn't seem overly interested in any one particular thing as yet so I look at all the toys and end up walking out in a bit of a frazzled daze!!!!
Any ideas on what anyone is getting or got their little one for xmas at this age??????
thanks
Kylie

My first daughter was 18 months over a christmas holiday and we found that books were a real treat. She would always bring them to us to read for her. She also recieved a bus that made noise, think it was the "wobbles" brand, she liked to bop along to the music it made. Those wooden puzzles that you can get was also a hit. and then we filled stockings with swimmers, sunnies and things for the beach for christmas holidays. We didn't get a doll house till her third b'day because we found that she was always a bit young for it. Even now her 2 year old sister doesn't get the full benefit of a dollhouse, knowing how to play properly.
This year for christmas we are building a cubby house out the back, stocked with kitchen etc. That way they will hopefully play happily out the back and out of my hair....
A suggestion I have is to look into joining a toy library, so you can try out some toys between now and Christmas and then you will have an idea of what to buy her!! Toy libraries have a large range of toys for all ages, some you can even buy!
My DD will be nearly 17 mths at Xmas, we are getting her those large shells, that you can fill with water/sandpit, plus bucket/spade for sandplay plus some toy musical instruments in addition to a ride on toy, like you've already described.

DD will be 17 months on Christmas Day, and so far all I've gotten her is a Little Touch Leap Pad. I'm hoping to get her a few extra books for that.
I don't know if it's any good, but recently there was a thread about it, and a few mothers had said it was great... and my DD LOVES to read books, so I figured an interactive noisy self-reading book might be a good idea for her...and I'm hoping to take it on the plane with us over Christmas too.
I thought about getting her one of those little indoor/outdoor plastic play gyms... Target has one with a slide AND a baby swing (DD loves swings)...and a few climbing parts. They're about $200-$250 I think... but the Target one seems much better than some of the others out there (which about over $200 for just a slide on a plastic box really...).
I'm considering a sandpit...though I don't know where I'll find sand (and I hate sand, so I'd rather not have it around...lol).
I'll be watching this thread too...hopefully i'll get some ideas!

My DS is 17 months in December. I plan to get him some kiddie DVDs, books and building blocks. I also want to get him a wagon so he can fill it up and pull it around. Apparently, this is a good age for that according to the toddler book I'm currently reading. I'll probably also get him a toy vacuum cleaner as he likes to "help" whenever I'm cleaning.
What animated characters/TV personalities does your DD like? My DS is a Wiggles fan so DH and I are taking him to the concert as a christmas treat too.
