Has anyone else been getting headaches? If so, what do you take for them? I haven't suffered from morning sickness that much (so far ) but I have been getting awful headaches. I think I've built up an immunity to paracetamol.. Panadol does nothing for me. The chemist wouldn't sell me Panadeine when I told them I was pregnant; later my doctor told me it was ok for me to take. I'm still a bit worried about taking codeine but these headaches are awful... :gloomy:

I got them really bad last week! I took panadol too and it didn't help. Drinking lots of extra water helped and sleeping if you get a chance. The dr told me panadeine was ok too but I am a little hesitant.

I've been really lucky and only had 2 minor headaches (thank goodness migraines go when AF goes!!) so have been able to get away with panadol. You could try putting some tiger balm on your temples and back of your neck - this is what I do when I have a migraine and it seems to help. Hope they disappear soon for you.

ooh thankyou for the tiger balm idea. I keep some next to my computer for neck/back pain (from sitting here too long ) so I'll definitely try that the next time I get headachey. No headache today so far :)

Tiger balm is a strong smelling brown balm for treating muscular aches and pains; it contains camphor, menthol, cajuput oil and clove oil among other things. I think you can get it at the chemist (I've had mine for ages & I can't remember where I got it :p)

I also have had a couple of migranes since i have been pregnant. I have told my doc about them and he says just take panandol, sometimes it just doesnt work. Sleep is my main help and also hot and cold compresses. Never had them with my other two pregnancies.

I've been waking up every day with what feels like a 'hangover' headache. I find that drinking heaps of water and getting more sleep (when i can!) seems to help.

I had a nasty headach on Saturday & another yesterday, I thought i'd get lots of rest, sleep & drink heaps of water to get rid of it. Well that didn't work - ended up :barf: all morning instead. Took panadol at about lunch time both days and felt heaps better a few hours later. Next time I am heading straight for the panadol as soon as i feel it starting.
My sister has a really bad neck & gets migranes - she spoke to her Doc & he also said that panadene is fine, she took it with her little boy & again this pregnancy - so far no probs.

Hi ladies
Hope you don't mind me popping into your thread? but I have some useful advice to help you with your headaches.
I suffered quite badly for the first 16 weeks and ended up in hospital on a drip because I had a migraine for 2 days
Firstly, for those of you waking up with the heavy head feeling.... buy yourself a pillow with inner support. Target sells them, look for the one with an inner core. It will be quite firm when you press it. The idea is that your head and neck remains straight on the pillow or slightly elevated, but does not sink into the pillow.
Secondly, it is ok to take panadeine so long as you follow the recommended dose. My doctor also prescribed me straight codeine but it made me :barf:
Thirdly, if things are really bad still (as in my case) try using a TENS machine on your temples. This was the best investment I made and it can also be used on your back during labour.
Last time I had a migraine I was able to keep functioning with the help of some panadeine and my TENS machine. I also found that if I drank a huge glass of water and ate a few crispbreads every hour, it seemed to help too.
Here is a website with more info on the TENS machine www.mediscope.com.au (http://www.mediscope.com.au)
Good luck with your pregnancies everyone and I hope you are all feeling better soon.

Thanks for the advice Hels*Bels! :) My pillow at the moment is really bad (actually I sleep on two really thin ones ) so I will definitely be checking out the ones at Target you suggested.
Meanwhile, I'm finding the tiger balm on the temples & neck idea really really helpful. Thanks again for that WeloveHarriet :D
