Hi,
My DD is currently on very limited solids diet to try an determine what is causing her servere eczema.
Her current diet is fruits, vegies, meat and Neocate formula. She has also been having some bread, corn crackers ,corn pasta and rice. I am considering stopping all grains in her diet for a week to see if this has a positive effect on her eczema.

I phoned her pediatrician about this and he said that it would be no problem for her nutritionally but I am really scared about cutting so many foods from her diet.

Is it true that the Neocate advanced formula can provide all her nutritional needs on a restricted food diet???
She has always had good growth rates and is a very inteligent child - I would hate to compromise this by restricting the nutrients she needs.

Dear Bub2luv,

I’m afraid I can’t answer your question about the nutrional values of specific formulas. You would need to discuss this with a dietitian. If your paediatrician is happy for you to try eliminating grains for a week, and your little girl has been a good eater so far, it is probably worth trying. Are there any wheat / rice / gluten free alternatives to breads and cereals that you could try for a week to replace the foods you are eliminating? Just make sure that you offer enough of the meats, fruits and vegetables so that your daughter isn’t hungry.
