my baby is three months old and she is breastfed with a comp bottle at her evening feed. she has been refusing food for the last three or four days (since ive been on atibiotics) but not just refusing me refusing her bottle to. there has also been some stress at home with another family staying with us. im owrried she isnt eating enough as she only has about 100mls of bottle and about 5 mins or so breastfed. i need some advice and some ideas on wat it might be and what i should do. its not that she doesnt like my milk she eats it at 6am but her other feeds are bad and she never use to fuss with her bottle. i dont know what to do im so stuck and worried she just cries when i try to feed her sometimes.

Some things come to mind....maybe the formula, my son won't take anything but S26 Gold. I had to change recently due to the shop being ut of stock and had no choice to get something else..twice and nope no go, screwed his face up (he's all of 5 weeks please!) or maybe she has an ear infection, they usually go off feeding cause it hurts to swallow. Maybe your milk tastes different from the antibiotics and she is associating this with her comp feed as well.Try giving her to someone else to feed??
Good Luck!

Big question - how many wet nappies are you getting per day? Sometimes they can muck about at the breast, and still be getting more than you realise. Count the wet nappies to see where you stand. At three months, they can be draining the breast reasonably quickly, having "got the knack".

I'd be having baby checked over, just to rule out anything being wrong with her - it could be a co-incidence that it seemed to start with your anti-biotics.

Yes, I was just about to post information along the lines of what Janet has suggested above. Also, here is another helpful link from the ABA website about Breast Refusal:

http://www.breastfeeding.asn.au/bfinfo/refusal.html

But I too would really suggest contacting an ABA Counsellor as this article recommends too.

Hope that it works out and that you will be back in sync again soon!

Thankyou all so much for your advise... i took her to the health nurse and all is ok with her....i then tried a different formula and she hated it.....so i just persisted with the breast feeding and when i stopped the anti-biotics and our other house guests went to there new house we both where back to normal. she is now drinking fine and also drinks her comp bottle fine. its all ok now but thankyou everyone for your help.
