View Full Version : Cycle trouble
I'm new here so i hope this is the right place.
I seem to have a 42 day cycle and my question is, although it's not normal is it still ok? Will it affect my chances of falling pregnant? I've only been off the pill a few months so it could still be settling. I don't remember what my cycle was like before i went on the pill so i don't know if it's always been that way.
I hope that makes sense. Thanks guys.
Hi :)
a better guide to cycle heath is what occurs in your cycle, and when, rather than the length. You're absolutely right about perhaps some settling occurring after being on the pill. You might like to have a look at this website which will give you really clear info on how your cycle functions and make identifying an issues much easier. So long as you're Oing and bleeding regularly there's no problem but you might consider some help from a naturopath if it continues more than a few months from now.

A 42 day cycle is great, as long as you are ovulating, and what you need to find out is if you are - you should be unless there are specific problems, and exactly when in your cycle you are ovulating so you can time intercourse right!
If you are someone who enjoys reading, I highly recommend "Taking charge of your fertility" By Toni Weschler, it is just brilliant, and is usually available from any library.
Good luck!

no matter how long your cycle most people ovulate 14 days before their next af is due (hope that helps)
Thanks a lot guys, that's really helpful. I feel better already! :)
Hi Puk,
My doc said almost any length of cycle is fine or 'normal' as long as it's regular (at which point I went 'oh' because mine was anything from 28 days to 8 weeks...) So, if it's regular you're doing well, don't stress about how long it is.
