Question about OK's?

I have been using ovulation predictors for the last week, and the last three days there has been a line, but not as dark as the control line. It has slowly got darker and darker, but still not as dark as the control line...

So do you think this means that ovulation is on it's way, as it is getting darker every day??

HI I used the opk for the first time as well this month and had the same readings, I just assumed it was postive when it got darker as I had the fertile mucous on the same day and also the next day it went fainter again! I was a bit confused as well as it wasn't as dark as the control line , but I assume it was positive the day before it went faint again!!!:rolleyes: Hope ou can understand what i am trying to say and hope it helps!!

The surge can be sudden, and remember it also depends on the concentration of your urine - if you have been guzzling water, it will be more dilute, so may show fainter even though it has peaked. Also you can measure at time A, have a surge in LH at time B, and by the time you use another test the following day, the level has dropped again.

I used OPKs to get both DD#2 and DS, and hit it with the OPK first time both times. My rule of thumb was that ANY line on the OPK was an indication that ovulation was close, and I used CM observations as well. I didn't see a line as dark as the control line either time.

That's really annoying hey. The worst thing is that some people get more than one surge in a cycle - r u temping as well?

No i'm not temping this time, thought i'd just go with the flow and try not to stress too much, at least to start with.

It's hard though cause this is the first cycle off contraception so i'm trying to pin point my ovulation incase it doesn't happen this month and then these stupid tests keep playing with my mind :banghead:

So annoying, we BD last night just incase (actually almost every night so far :o ) So we will just have to keep doing it to make sure i guess!

sounds like a good plan - wish i could stop temping but i seem to be addicted to knowing absolutely everything thats going on in my cycle! I know its making me stress more, but i just cant not know! stoopid stoopid
i spose i am kind of assuming that theres something wrong with me and want to have records so that if (when) i have to see a FS then something can be done ASAP.

hey do you guys know if the time you hold the OPK in your little sample makes a difference? I just count to five and sometimes i must count faster (and i don't even get a control line) and sometimes i must count slower (and the colour shoots right up the stick). I haven't seen the test line yet..still waiting...but just wondering if you hold it in longer, does that mean you get the result faster? when i hold it in longer, the control line appears immediately.
hope i'm not confusing you all!! :)

I don't think it makes any difference, i am always very careful to follow the instructions though so i don't get a false reading..

Hi there! I've fallen pg 3 times now (2 ectopics) but each time was by using OPK's! I'm a huge advocate of these time saving pee sticks - love it!

A REAL positive is when the test line is as dark as or DARKER than the control line. Thats when you GO for it! I usually did one a day at the same time each day - I usually did it as soon as I got home from work - or maybe you could do it when washing your hands before beginning dinner - roughly the same time each day and NEVER with FMU.

When I had OPK's which you hold in a urine cup, I left it there until I could see the urine seeping up the control window - you know how you can see your pee moving up the stick, well I would wait til I saw it JUST appear, and then take the stick out of the urine and leave it on a flat surface and read it in 5mins time. Do that, or count to 10 (one cat and dog; two cat and dog; etc)

Hi Pink Lady,
The instructions say 5 seconds but i've wasted a few taking them out after five seconds and the control line doesn't even appear. i think you need longer (like 7 seconds)!
I'm looking forward to those two lines! Hopefully next week. :fingerscrossed:
