My son has been very sick for a week now. He had febrile convulsions last friday in fact 2 in a row. He now has vomiting and diarrohea and refuses everything. He has only had one wet nappy today and it was only half wet. When should i take him to hospital?? He's not even holding down gastrolyte and hes so lethargic!! :(

I would be taking him straight to the hospital NOW. If this has been going on for a week it's likely that he is dehydrated.

If in doubt, jump in the car and go! Think how you'll feel if something happens and you didn't go......
The fact he is not holding anything down is of concern, and he may need a drip to hydrate his little body. Apart from time, what have you got to lose???
:fingerscrossed: Fingers crossed he's better soon. :hugs: to you mummy as we have just been through this and I know how draining the experience can be. Good luck.
I would he heading up there now just to get him checked out. They dehydrate very fast, and by the sounds of it, he is getting dehydrated.
Good luck, and keep us updated.

Try giving him small amounts of tepid fluid at a time. I had to syringe 10mls into K every 5 mins because he wasn't holding anything down either. If he still throws that up, take him to hosp.
I was told to take K to the hosp the moment I felt uncomfortable with being at home.

When babies are lethargic and are not themselves the best idea is to always take them to get checked out. Always.

ummmn as soon as he had hte convulsions i would have taken him straight to hospital there they would have monitored him and put in an iv. which is what they are going to do now as he isnt getting enough fluids it doenst matter if he doesnt eat anything for a week as long as his fluids are full maintained for the period but by the sounds of it it isnt so therefore he needs to be assessed in hospital. did you take him anywhere when he had the convulsions?????? if you did the gp should have referred you to the hospital.

Yes i did take him in fact he went there by ambulance. He was in hospital for 2 days. He had a rash all over him which is now gone. His temp went up to 39.6 last week but its now at normal range.
Id be taking him now to a hospital ASAP to get checked out when hes been sick so long
