Just wondering if there is anyone else out there that may be spending Christmas alone?

My DF is overseas with the Army until April 2007. All my family are in SA (I'm in QLD). My problem is I have no-one to look after my dog. All the kennels are full. Its my sons first Christmas (well, 2nd but he was only 12 days old last Christmas) & I really wanted to be around family at this time.....

:fingerscrossed: something pops up but so far it isnt looking good.

Oh Sharon, I am sure something will pop up so you can spend christmas with your family :fingerscrossed:

Can any of your neighbours look after your dog?
Or can you take him with you?

Hi Sharvs. Sorry to hear you won't be with your hubby at Christmas time. :hugs: for you, it must be so hard!

Have you checked out the Parents In The Armed Forces Thread here at BubHub? It's waaaaaaay down the bottom of the list, but you will probably find a few people there who understand your situation and maybe even a few who will also be on their own at Christmas?

It would be nice if your family could come to you  You can come over to my place if you like! :)

It isnt possible for them to come to me - my parents own & operate a business that is on call 24 hours a day. They cant afford to lose any business. I'm sure something will work out, its just the longer I leave it the higher the risk of not being able to get a flight which will add to my little dillema. Atleast I have my beautiful DS.

We have used Lonely Pets Club to feed and walk our dog while we are away. They come to your home.

Hey Sharon

A friend of mine is a 'professional' house minder with much experience in looking after people's houses and pets. She has looked after the house and cat of a friend of mine a few times now. And I do believe she doesn't even really charge anything!
PM me if you would like her details, and you can even just meet her if you like!

Oh no is there any friends you could spend xmas with?
My dh works alot of xmas days so I am hoping he will be off with us this year sometimes he gets the night shift so then we can spend the day together but if he doesnt I think I will spend it with my family. Its sad being on your own on the day:crying:

Definately look in to getting a house minder! there are agencies that do all the police checks and stuff for you. Or ask around friends who might be able to stay at your place and look after your dog?

Hi

Thanks for the concern, I am heading to Adelaide next week to spend Christmas with my parents for the first time in 5 years so I am very excited about that. I have hired a lady that is going to come to my house to feed my dog for me. Im not 100% happy with this arrangement but it will have to do.

It was DS first birthday yesterday & we got through that so Christmas should be great. Its officially 3 months since he left, 3 and a half months to go! BRING ON APRIL
