:detective: Hi There, I was just thinking about large family's, and I have a couple of question for you all.
What do you class as a large family?
Is it four, five or more?
Who has the most children on Bubhub?
Are they many of us that come from a large family's?
Does anybody think people will stop having large family's?
I have three right now but it will soon be five, as we are having twins in dec. And when people say you will not be have any more will yo? I cant say yes or no! Does anybody else feel this way?

I have 3 ATM, our fourth is due in April. I would love to have a few more, but DH has said no as they cost too much and they drive him nuts, lol. Plus it is too hard to fit them all in the car.

I have 4 boys and me and DH are going to start trying for #5 in december.:wave:
ATM I have 4, 2 of each. We are ttc #5 now and are ultimately aiming for 3 of each! That would be nice, but I am so excited about having more kids that I really don't care what they are as long as they are healthy.
Bring on the kiddies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are they many of us that come from a large family's? There are 3 girls in ours, and I wouldn't call that a 'large' family, so that's why my vote went with 4+

I've recently heard of a well known family around here that are pg with their 11th :eek:! Now, that's what I'd call a large family!
I personally would like one more as it's quite easy to accomodate with what we have house & car wise, but with 4 kids you need much more of & much bigger 'things'!

I have 6... 5 boys, then finally our girl.. no we didnt plan on stopping cause we had a girl.. we decided that 5 was it, but #6 happened and she was a very welcomed suuprise, but we said throughout the whole pregnancy that it was our last for sure... we never found out the sex. I had twins for my 4th pregnancy, and after having three already, they were so easy to look after, so many helping hands too mind you. but then when #6 came along.. I could do it with my eyes closed (looking after her that is LOL) For me... I know my body cant handle another pregnancy, nor really can my mind.. the baby yes.. the being preg part..No.

Are there many of us that come from a large family? I am from a family of 4. Two brothers and one sister. Then 3 step-brothers and 2 step-sisters. Plus my older brother has a half brother and my older sister has 2 half sisters!!!!!!

Hi,
I am a mum to 7. My recent edition to the family is just three weeks old, my other children are 13yrs, 11yrs, 9yrs, 4yrs, 3yrs & 2yrs. I love having a big family, & I might just have more.
I don't come from a big family, I am the eldest of three girls & my Husband is an only child.

Hi all.
I'm 23 and pregnant with my first baby. I'm interested in this group because both my husband and I come from 'large' families.
I'm from a family of four children, and growing up everyone at school thought that 4 kids is a large family. However, my best friend (not from school) had 6 kids in her family, so I thought that was large. I don't think 4 kids is a large family, but it certainly is by community averages. The government gives a 'large family payment' to families with 3 or more kids!
My husband is one of (wait for it) twelve children, so he's definitely from a large family. Funny thing is, he thinks 4 kids is a SMALL family!
I think it's great to grow up with a few siblings to share life with. I certainly hope my baby will have a few siblings!

My DH comes from a family of eight, and thought that was large! I only have a much younger bother by 12 years :eek:
My auntie as five children, and it was all heaps of fun at her house. I think this is one of the many reasons I want a large family.
By the way her last pg was twins a girl and boys. So this where I must get it from :laughing:

I only have two at this stage trying to plan #3 but Im already finding myself thinking 4 might be nice maybe five lol but I like even numbers so it will have to be six :D sorry DP you have no idea what your in for:laughing:

I class 4 or more as a large family, we have 4 and plan on one more bub which is all I can physically have, we also plan on fostering in the next year or so :) If I could have more than one I probably would want more of my own:)

i have3 kidlets.
i think 4 kids make a large family because then you do need to upgrade to a bigger car.. but i can understand why the government have classed 3 kids as a large family because most 'family' passes are always for 2 adults and 2 kids, so that once you get up to 3 kids i guuess it starts to become financially challenging to do family things all together...:confused: :laughing:
ah, i would love a big family, but will prolly have to stop here if dp has any say in it.

Does anyone think that people will stop having large families?I hope not, though in this day and age when everyone seems to want their kids to have their own room and stuff, I fear it may just happen.
DH and I are already talking about where we will find the money for his reversal:D . He got the snip while I was pregnant with no.5, and we were going through a really c**p time in our relationship. Things are awesome between us again now, and we really are clucky for another (me especially:o ). When we met, I told him I was planning a dozen, so I figure he's getting off lightly at this point!!!:laughing:
I have 7 children (well I consider them all my children!:) )
I have 5 Step children who I have taken care of for the last 5 years and they only recently went back to their Mother to live:gloomy: . I have given birth to 2 but I love my step children just as much as my own and I cant wait for their visits.

We have 5 with #6 due in June. Twins run in my family and we have an ultrasound next week to check how many little bundles we're expecting. Either way we have no intention of stopping after this pregnancy. Our biggest issue is what car do we get??? We have a Tarago, but if it's twins we're up for a bigger car (probably a Hiace but does anyone have any other suggestions?).

well i have 3 kids and my fiance who has a dd from a previous relationship. so it gets full on when we have all 4 kids.
i cant rule out that i wont have any more but am not planning it at the moment either.
i come from a family of 7 kids. but i was the youngest of them all.

There certainly is a decrease in larger families, most people are now somewhat career orientated and IMO i may get worse in the near future.
I have 4 kids and tbh there wont be anymore coming from me :no:

Have you considered a ford transit van? They seat 11 I think. Acouple I know are having no 10 (lucky buggers!!) and that's what they have I'm sure...Otherwise you can try a troop carrier, some places will fit a normal back seat, then you have shorter benches in the back...not sure how many seats you end up with then though...Good luck with your check up and congrats:smiliedance:

I come from a family of 3, all girls and I am the youngest.
I look after children and there is a lady at my centre who has had 8 children. 6 are still living. She said that she isnt having anymore but I know she would love to. She has always wanted a big family

We have 2 lovely children -1 boy and 1 girl!! I would love to have 5kids but DH only wants 4. We'll see what happens!! :thumbsup: Ive always wanted a big family. I think this world is so caught up in money that its forgotten about the true values in life and thats family!!!! :yes: I would much rather leave this earth with lots of kids then a huge mansion and a porsche!! :yes:

I have 4, 2 of each and I too can't say that I do or don't want anymore.
People are always asking me if "That's it", but I can't say for sure.
I loved every minute of all my pregnancies and could be pregnant forever, but not sure if Id go mad with more children!!

I only have 1 child, but my mum grew up in a family of 10 kids (including her)....I class that as a huge family.....biggest I've known.......
Yes my nan was a superwoman, and still is as at the ripe old age of 75 she is still driving trucks (big rigs) like never before......

I only have one. Probly my only to be honest (long story lol).
Im the eldest of 3, but my mum is one of 6. Most of my 15 cousins have 2-4 kids each so Xmas is rather huge and noisy hehehe. We are all very close like siblings rather than cousins.
For that reason Id love a big family in theory .... but after my first I couldnt physically do it.
We have 3 and number 4 is due in Januaury. @of each.

We had intended to stop after our second so we werent planning on being classed as a large family but i wouldnt have it any other way now.
Are we planning anymore- NOT ON YOUR LIFE!! My Dh is off to get "fixed" as soon as this one is born. He has been promising the snip since our DS2 was 8 mths old (glad now he didnt). BUT i have told him if he wont go to a Dr to get it done, then im more than happy to perform the operation for him:laughing:. My body is falling apart with this pregnancy, i cant go again.

If anything they will continue to get bigger. We've all tried the working mum thing, realise it's too expensive and too hard emotionally, so either we're going to be families of 1 or 2 and working or SAHM's with 3 or more to justify not being at work.

I grew up with just a brother but my Dad is eldest of 9 and Mum was one of 4 so I always had lots of cousins and great big family parties. I've always wanted that for my kids so maybe I will try and persuade him to have 4. Got to have this one though first then I'll see how I feel.

We had a carnival. We got rid of it 6 months later. Not good mechanically, no guts! :thumbsdown:
The new carnivals look heaps better than the old ones though so I think they have done some modifications!!!!!

:no: I did not want to be a van diver either! But I have to say I have falling in LOVE :hugs: with my 04 Tarago, it's the best money we have spend so far on the twins! :thumbsup:
I loved my tarago when we had it.. was ALOT easier than I thought it was to drive... and VERY easy to park.. now we have an 8 seater landcruiser.. and I love it.. only its hard to park as its so wide.. not easy though if you have little kids to get them in the back row... and do up seat belts for them.. lucky all my kids can do their belts up, or they help Alannah do hers up.

Each to their own. Some ppl are happy with one, thers want a tribe. I think there will always be a few lucky enough to be blessed with more than the average.
Hubby and I want a couple more at least. We have the lucky 3.

I would class 5 or more as a large family.
I don't think having 4 children is all that large.
Alot of my friends have four and I find it about the same as having 3, not a big family, but not small either.
I just had my third child in September and we plan on one more bub in a year or so.
I would like a little buddy for my new edition as the older two are very good buddies.
The way I see it the more the merrier. If I didn't suffer so badly from morning sickness I'd consider even more but I have to plan help for 3 or 4 months with the next pregnancy while the ms lasts. It is all worth it in the end though!

I have a Mitsubishi Delica, it's the 4 wd version of a starwagon (which I used to have). It's a 2.8 turbo diesel, so has heaps of guts, not too bad on fuel, and has 8 seats!!
Otherwise you could always go up to the Ford transit van or troop carrier:D .
Congrats on your No.5 too (and maybe no 6!!).

I am one of five, although only three of us still live, there is me, my sister and my brother who is a sole surviving triplet. The other two boys died of a condition called twin to twin transfusion syndrome as they were identical and my surviving brother was fraternal, but I still consider myself as one of five. I have one daughter born on 16.02.05 and a son due on 16.02.07 but would like to get up to four children at least.

:D i have six kids,4 boys 2 girls(b,g,b,b,b,g)and i have just done a hpt today,and low and behold it is a positive!! so i guess it will be seven children in a few months(i would be approx 5weeks and 1 day today):fingerscrossed:

i have 2 atm on is nearly 3 yrs the other is 4 months
we are going to have a break for 5 or 6 years then have 2 more
my aunty and uncle have 8 children thats what i call a large family

Hope you don't mind if I add my 2 cents worth.
We have just had number 5 between us. The kids are 22, 15,14,11 and 8 weeks. The older one doesn't live us. The 4 youngest are all mine.
DP isn't over the idea of another one after this but I am still undecided. I love kids and having them. The whole pregnancy thing isn't too bad..and we still have 1 seat left in the car. We bought a Mitsubishi Grandis this year. (cost $50,000 but well worth every cent. I love it).
But.....it is harder as they get to the age my older kids are as they "need" sooooo much more. But at the same time we are in a better position now than we ever were. I guess time will tell.
I am not saying No but not commiting myself either.
I think 4+ kids is a large family these days.
I am only 1 of 2. DP is 1 of 7. My brother now has 5. They had 3 girls and now have anoter girl and a boy. I think large families will always be around. I'd like to see more of them. Maybe return to some of the older ways where Mum is at home being Mum and Dad is doing his best for the family. ( very old fashioned of me but it's the first time I haven't worked for a looong time)

While 1 child families seem to becoming alot more 'popular' (not sure if that's the right word really), ppl still want large families which is great. Who wants to live in a place like China where you're told how many children you can have?! The fact that we can have as many children as we want is wonderful and liberating.

Atm we can't afford and don't have the room (housewise) to have another child. Who knows, in another 7 yrs I might have another - there is a 7 yr age gap between dd1 and dd2!

I have 18 nieces and nephews, plus my soon to be 6, so makes 24 grandies for our parents, and I can see that growing also!
I would love to go again for number 7, we have an au falcon wagon with 3 seats in back, so this bub will fill it up, but in saying that, you can get a 9 seater au falcon (I love the au's), bench in front, 3 in back and 3 ****ies, which we used to have, but got a newer model without the bench.. We are also looking at the new carnival, maybe when Ive finished paying for the au in the newyear, heck, weve had a loan for 4 years now, might as well continue having a loan!!

Are they many of us that come from a large family's? i come from a large family technically i'm an only child, and on my dads side i'm the youngest of 4 on my mum's side im the oldest of 5. my dp is the 2nd child of 4

Been reading a bit on here and thought it would be great to join in if I can (when time permits:rolleyes: )
Having a larger than norm family is great and of course has it's challenges as well, but my own attitude has a lot to do with it:o .
I only come from a smaller family, 3 children, but dh is one of 6. We had planned 2, well, let that plan go obviously.
Must go for now. Have a bub on my lap who is cranky.

I have really enjoyed reading all the posts. After hearing of other people like me I feel normal as i have four but would love more.
I think of 5 or more as a large family.
I am still surprised when people say i have a large family.

I always thought 3 kids was a large family but realise once you have 4 doesn't really matter how many more you have, everything has to come in super size.

They already have, the average/normal family is now a single parent with two kids. But still seems to be quite a lot of us nutty ones around too.:D
I have three right now but it will soon be five, as we are having twins in dec. And when people say you will not be have any more will yo? I cant say yes or no! Does anybody else feel this way?
People with none/only a couple children are quite rightly horrified at the thought of huge families so I never take it as an insult when people ask. We all know how much fun it is !!? :eek: There was a thread on cool comebacks a few months back.
After this one and because of my age I don't think I will have any more, but I have said that before and jinxed myself so who knows.

What do you class as a large family? I think this is interesting...I used to class anything 8 children and over but in the current climate - I agree, anything over 2 seems to be considered a large family and are catered for when it comes to budget offers, etc...

I cant say yes or no! Does anybody else feel this way? :yes: We're pausing for now and if at a later date like when our baby is entering kindy and I'm still up for it then maybe.

They go from 25 down I have twin boys 13 my youngest son has autism and my youngest daughter was after 7 boys she has cerbral palsey I find they are always there for each other I do a lot of trips to Brisbane which is over 3 hours away for hospital visits and the older ones look after the younger ones . My husband walked ou t after the youngest was born and had problems I love my life and could not imagine any other way

my eldest was 16 when I started leaving her in charge of the younger ones

Does anybody think people will stop having large family's? I think there are people out there who will still have big families. There are a fair few big families amongst the kindy mums. I have always wanted a big family. And I'm definitely not finished having kids yet!!!

i have ds who is 2yrs, dd who is 1yr and bubba due in december. so that will make three. we are planning on having a fourth bubba soon after our 3rd. im hoping for 4 under 4 or at least 4 under 5. lots of people at the moment comment on how hard #3 is going to be. i just say to them "i know, imaging how hard #4 will be when he/she arrives" that usually shuts people up. i love children and definatly want to have lots. but 4 will be our limit, concidering money and our availabillty to them.

Does anybody think people will stop having large family's? I did *think* I was finished, and even had a tubal ligation with my last c/s. I am now looking into IVF or reversal.
