Hi Guys,

We have been trying for a whole year now. We got dh's semen analysis results back and they were pretty bad. 8million was the concentration.. i think total was 24 million. Motility was bad too.
We are now waiting on the second SA results.

How long did you guys try for before going to FS?

I am really beginning to lose hope. We are only 24.. both fit and healthy!
Is there any point in trying naturally when results are so low?

Thanks!

How was the morphology? Definetly see an FS and get their opinion my dh has normal count but terribly morphology so we are off to ivf after I year I got a referral you have to push it a go won't send you because your young it took 6 months to be told ivf and now looks like we won't start till June that's our 2 year TTC mark :( we are 24 too. It sucks but at least your fining out early!!!

I think you mean she has 8 million chances! :) 1 in 8 million would be next to no chance :)

Op - don't stress. Go see a fertility specialist they might try other things before ivf is needed. Worst case scenario if you need ivf, you only need the amount of sperm for the amount of eggs they harvest. So if you make 15 eggs in one cycle, they only need 15 of his sperm. So relax for now, get a referral and see what the experts say. A GP knows very little about fertility and it's such a numbers game, you really need to speak to a specialist. Good luck :)

When we visited our GP we simply told him we had been trying for longer than we actually had. It had been 12 months but we just said 18 months so he didn't say go away for another 6 months because we all know waiting is agony. We were closer to 30 though.
You are never to young if you have results that suggest a problem with the sperm or anything else then as mentioned before push and push to get that referral. My IVF doctor said he much prefers to see younger people walking through the door than older as he knows the odds are better for them of conceiving. I have a friend whose IVF journey took 10 years, mainly due to the financial restraints. They had to save before completing cycles and they just couldn't fall. Although they eventually did. So starting early makes so much more sense.
Best of luck with what comes next for you.

Thanks guys!
So appreciated.. I am thinking it's time to start looking into things. Waiting around is killing me. I was just at work with a girl who just kept going on and on about how her period is late. This is their second month trying.. just so hard to keep hearing all the time.
It's just kind of hard to swallow that we might need IVF or something like that. It's not really what you expect at 24. But life throws you curve balls sometimes and you just got to go with it!
I will talk to DH about making an appointment with a FS.. he is really struggling to come to terms with his low sperm count. I think it must be pretty hard on the guys when they find out this sort of thing!
Allymumtobe the morphology was fine. So I guess that is something to be thankful for but the count and the motility was pretty awful!

Hun, I know how you feel. We were only 24 and 26 when we found out ivf in particular icsi would be our only way of having babies. It's was devastating. Here is part of our story and some supplements that your dh might be interested in taking:

our FS is a strong believer in supplements and it did absolute wonders for us. Dh's low sperm is unexplained, but on first sample we had none. Literally none. Same with second sample. Then we put him on the supps for 3 months and the scientist actually sat down with us and asked us to freeze them. He had 100,000 and one of those little miracles was our dd! So here is the supps:

Gojo berries (very high antioxidant)
Pumpkin seeds (zinc)
Aloe juice (again, vh antioxidant)
Zinc tablet or menevit (our choice instead on plain zinc tablet)
Berocca

And I am really happy to say that I shared the list of supps with someone similar to your dh (lower numbers but still in the millions) and the posted on BH a few months ago saying they got their bfp naturally after taking all those supps for a few months.
